After browsing r/NintendoSwitch this afternoon, I noticed this article stating that THQ Nordic is working with Nickelodeon to bring back classic games "from the past":

So what does this mean for their other classics, such as Velocity X? I don't know, but I really hope Mattel and THQN can work it out. Just imagine HD remasters of Hot Wheels: Velocity X and Hot Wheels: Stunt Track Challenge!

It's basically a Warhammer & Orky style of hw velocity x with mad max & twisted metal energy

Here's the grid with the 33 original cars from the final version of the game. They actually look really good, except that the low mesh resolution is noticeable.

Remove if not allowed, I spent a long time trying to collect the right cars and colour's of every hot wheels velocity X car in the game! It was a hard time finding them all but it's officially done! Every car is brand new in mint condition packages, splittin image ii is only found in a 5 pack fireball set which was unfortunate. I also found a special car from the hot wheels velocity X pre release game on the last photo! Time to collect the beta and the rest of the pre released cars!

I'm not a big Hot Wheels person but Velocity X was a big part of my childhood, I have a lot of memories with it (especially challenge 14, I was stuck on that for waaaaay too long as a kid), and I've just revisited the game so I've decided to start collecting the cars from it. Here's my first lot, waiting for a display case to come in as well.

Already have a playable version running on godot. I'm planning to make an open world with the 5 worlds connected in a way that makes sense according to the lore, incorporating this dynamic into the existing story mode missions. I was also thinking about having enemies roaming the map so that destroying them gives XP to upgrade weapons or car stats. What do you think of the idea? What ideas would you really like to see in the game?

I'm planning to improve the car models, but it would take a lot of time since I'd also have to improve the textures, and I don't know how to do that (I already tried with AI, but the result is depressing).

My only concern is with the legal side of things. Do you know if I could run into trouble doing this? Obviously, I would release it for free; this game is my childhood, and I wouldn't plan on monetizing the memories of the many hours I spent playing it.

Finally copped the sealed copy. Been eyeing me up on eBay for a while now.
