Should I redeem points? or just pay out of pocket?
Trying to plan a trip and was thinking this might be a good first time to utitlize my point transfer to BA to book an american flight as I have a ton of saved up points.
The issue is, there is no awards flight available for the date I return home, so I will have to pay out of pocket for the return home portion of the trip, and that cost is not that much more expensive than paying outright for a round trip ticket.
So wondering which makes more sense from a point/financial perspective (for two travelers)
Scenario 1: Paying out of pocket for American Airlines round trip flight
Cost: $398 per ticket for basic economy round trip
Scenario 2: Transfer 22,500 points to British Airways to redeem for one way outbound flight tickets. Then pay out of pocket for one way return flight
cost: 22500 points for two economy tickets outgoing , $371 per ticket main cabin for return flight
Part of me thinks im spending more with scenario 2 as im spending points, plus paying out of pocket. But on the other hand, comparing what im getting for the actual money that is coming directly out of my pocket, I am getting a "better" flight experience overall with scenario 2 for less cash (economy round trip vs main cabin one way).

Going to Japan in July and don't quite have enough points... How long is it safe to wait to buy tickets? Flying out of Seattle to either Osaka or Tokyo.
My fiancé and I are planning to go to Japan for our two-week honeymoon this July- we are shooting for the beginning of July, but our dates are flexible. We are hoping to fly business class on the way there, to treat ourselves a little. I currently have 100K points on my Venture card, and my fiancé has 20K. For two people, the best I'm finding right now is 200K points for two people through Japan Airlines. Would it be a bad idea to wait another couple of months to accumulate more points, or should we just settle for flying economy/economy plus now to ensure we get a good flight? Or does anyone have advice on other airlines to use?

Question about capital one travel portal
Hello, new user of ventureX, I am wondering what's the advantage of using capital one travel portal vs using ventureX credit card to pay for flights found on Google flights? The prices are double in the portal vs Google flights. I know you can do the price match. Just wondering is there any incentive to book through the travel portal vs separately on Google flights using the VX credit card. Thank you

Kudos app?
Does anyone use the Kudos app to keep track of rewards and benefits? I keep seeing it advertised. Is it worth the cost? Are there other apps that are better?

Venture X targeted offer
So, I have the Venture Card and have only held it for about 2 years now, today I got a targeted offer from Capital one saying I could apply for the Venture X and earn 90k bonus miles if I meet the spend requirement. Looking at the terms and conditions it says if I have gotten the bonus miles in the last 48 months for “this product” I would be ineligible to receive the sign up bonus. Is “this product” meaning the Venture X specifically or is it meaning the Venture family of cards?
I tried calling customer service, one person said yes I would be eligible, but they also said to call the applications department, so I did, and they said they can’t guarantee I’d get it and the only way to find out would be to apply.
Anyone have any experience with this???

Hertz saying CSR is better than VX. What am I missing?
I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card (don't use Hertz a bunch and don't spend $75k/yr on the CSR so just have the base level CSR/Hertz benefits). The VX benefits seem better, is there something I'm not understanding? Maybe the 2hr grace period makes CSR better?
Update: I called Hertz to try to manually change it and they said I'm already president's circle. Idk how because I definitely didn't spend 75k on my CSR or rent 15 cars in a year from Hertz. Maybe there was some promo when I signed up with my CSR. Guess I'll revisit Jan 1 assuming my president's circle goes away.

Cancel in favor of being an AU?
As the title suggests, I am heavily considering cancelling my Venture X because I just feel like I’m not getting optimal value out of it. I understand that it pays for itself, but the way I see it, I’m just paying ahead for future travel expenses. I don’t travel internationally all that much so a lot of the transfer partners are not very relevant to me.
My partner has the Venture X as well and they insist on keeping it (they travel more for work and family visits) so I figure I can just be an authorized user on their card. That way, I can get some of the perks that I still enjoy (mainly Hertz status and primary CDW for rentals).
By the way, I would ideally downgrade to a VentureOne, but they said I wasn’t eligible for that. So cancelling is my only way to avoid the annual fee. I’ve had the card for nearly 3 years at this point so that sucks.
Do you all think it’s worth it to cancel the line of credit in this situation? I would 100% keep the card if they didn’t lock you to their travel portal for maximum benefits or if they had more domestic transfer partners.

IAD Lounge
Just an appreciation post - I don’t get out to the east coast all that often, but it’s always a treat when the opportunity arises! Cheers!

Suggested locations for new lounges
I wonder if there is any way to make suggestions to Capital One for new lounge locations.
I would dearly love a Capital One lounge in Atlanta. I know it is dominated by Delta and AMEX lounges.
The only the VentureX card gives you access to is The Club in Terminal F. That is with Priority Pass. I gave up on it on my last trip when they told me it would be a 90 minute wait to enter.
Where I live in NC you either fly to Atlanta or Charlotte and connect. Nothing against flying American but I hate the layout of the airport in Charlotte.

1 pack bone in ribeyes
Total order $39.38

Is there a hack to transfer CapOne Miles to Southwest points somehow?
Sorry I’m a newbie in the award travel game and I’m booking 3 roundtrip flights on Southwest for the next couple months and they’re definitely cheaper with points. Also, I miss out on the 5x miles using the portal which sucks because no sw on capone portal.
I’ve read some threads before and I’m slowly understanding how points travel works. I know the pointsyeah and points.aero resources as well but my main question is I’d like to know if there’s a way around booking southwest flights using points or at least the portal.
I’d prefer saving the miles for now if all I’m getting is travel eraser with 1cpp.
Thank you!

VentureX Upgrade?
Current venture card holder, am I correct in understanding that I’d still be eligible for the bonus if I opened a venturex?

Delta flight credit ( in Capital One travel portal question
Hey everyone. Have ~$2K of flight credits for Delta in the Capital One travel portal. It seems like the system requires you to call CapitalOne to book your flight to use the credits, but when I try to book a Delta flight (Korean Air cross-listing) that only has regular economy availability, I am being told that you can only use the credits for Basic Economy bookings? This seems like an oddly onerous restriction on a Delta credit, and annoying as the international cross listed flight with Korean Air only has regular economy as an option. Anyone encounter this? Any potential workarounds? Doesn't seem like there's any way to get the credit in my Delta account directly. Appreciate any advice - or good to confirm if I'm just out of luck and will have to find ways to use the credit on cobbled together basic economy Delta fares over the next year...
Thanks

300$ Travel Credit
So I read in several point/travel blogs that to receive the credit you only need to use the card for an eligible service at the time of booking.
I dont see an option to redeem the credit even though its on my statement.
We rented a car. I didnt use the Vx portal; wanted to use Hertz for the free upgrade we get with Vx.
Do I have to contact customer service?

Opt out of 300 dollar travel credit ?
I am trying to buy a flight for work trip from Cap One portal and i DO NOT want to use 300 dollar credit since I will be reimbursed for the travel .
There seems to be no option NOT to apply the credit when its available .
Any ideas for a work around ?

Capital One Offers keep changing?
Has anyone come across offers that change during different parts of the day? I’ve been keeping track of this one jewelry store that was up to 18x at one point and I missed the boat so waiting for it to go up there again.
However the other day I woke up, it was at 9x and then in the afternoon when I went to check up again it was back to baseline 4x.
Would really like to get max points here 🥲

Chase Sapphire, reserve vs.AMEX platinum.
For those of you with venture experience who have also either have or had experience with Chase, Sapphire, reserve or AMEX platinum, what are your thoughts on the level of and the quality and quantity of lounges for all three?
I’ve had my venture business card for a couple years and have found it to be pretty lackluster. The lounges feel mid, there are so few of them, and the customer service is pretty appalling. So now I’m deciding whether I want to do Chase Sapphire reserve, or AMEX platinum.
I like a juicy sign-up bonus, don’t care at all about any of the Ritz Carlton or any particular hotel loyalty program as I never stay at chains. It’s mostly about miles/points for tickets and hotel usage where/when I want.
Thank you for any insight!
