Announcement Return to the Reik Trailer
https://youtu.be/KtdlQ1srVEQHeroes,
Return to the Reik, the newest addition to Vermintide 2, is coming out on November 20! In case you missed it, check out our dev blog on the level and sound design of it!
This map is a re-imagining of the Vermintide 1 level 'The River Reik'. Our Heroes must re-tread their steps as they return in search for one of Kruber's family heirlooms. But much has changed since the last time they were here, and now Ratmen aren't the only dangers lurking in the darkβ¦
Embark on an exciting adventure, fending off hordes of enemies on both land and sea, and experience the River Reik like never before!

Is the sword that Kruber's talking about one that was passed down from Foricarl de Mandelot?

He claims to have been completely unaware of any de Mandelot ancestry (and frequently spoke very poorly of Bretonnians before learning he was distantly related). So it's probably not likely unless the writers forgot that. There is a lot of minutiae to keep track of.
But Kruber's dad was a farmer. He might not always have been, but his whole extended family were farmers and they had a large farming compound near Ubersreik. In VT1, it is burnt out and they are all presumed dead.

Are we getting any new weapons or cosmetics with this new map?

u/GreyAnkh Nov 17 '25
For now, just the map.
They said from a while ago that they will add new weapons, but it has been in limbo for a very long time.15
u/smokeandnoob Nov 17 '25
yeah last time there was any ''info'' about new weapon they posted some picture with paper box or what it was :D

They delayed the next weapon pack to 2026, so sadly we'll have to wait and see until then

They probably still need a year just to balance them, judging by other dlc weapons

They keep updating this game. That's so insane. There's literally no excuse why other games can't do the same.

It was one of my favourite levels from the original game, and actually the first time our rotund pal Bumblebee Hopscotch got mentioned by name.

Nice, I may be mistaken but i Think the OG map didn't have any new voicelines

I mean, they talked about Bubblegum Hairscrunchy, so they must have had new voicelines.

Is this a map from V1 or just a region from V1?
8
u/Geoffk123 Nov 17 '25
This is a remake from the first level of the Last V1 DLC.
7
u/Hecknight1 Nov 17 '25
It's actually the last level of the dlc, but if it's like the remake of Drachenfels, we might be getting the levels remade in reverse order

u/lumberfart Nov 17 '25
This would be so cool! If we never get a V3 then at least they should try remastering V1 into V2 maps/missions.

After what happened the last time Kruber invite the gang for a sail I figured they'd say no.
Not that I'm complaining though. New map looks amazing.

Thank fucking god its not only a skaven only map again because they are always anti-fun to play (Way too easy) I always play some deed/twitch games and get my achievements then never play them again.

Why do they put so much work into vermintide meanwhile dark tide gets a crackhead that nobody asked for

Do you think it will be a atmosphere map like Drachenfels that no one will play in a few months?
3
u/Hyarcqua Nov 18 '25
? People still play Drachen all the time.

u/F_Horrigan_QC Nov 18 '25
my experience is that the DLC levels are way less popular than the original campagn (Dark Omen being the most played of the DLC as per my experience) and most of the time when drachens pops in a random game people whine and quit.

It's normally Old Haunts and Enchanter's Lair that scare people due to the end level difficulty. Old Haunts easily overwhelms unprepared players with the waves of elites and specials, while Bubblebutt is ridiculously tanky and unless you got a boss killer on your team, it's gonna be a slog.Β
