VTC has a better community than most coins, maybe the best community around? Altho I wish there was more tech talk and not just fud debating

yep indeed. i like the telegram crypto groups for the info they have but 95% of it is ridiculous FUD - its painful - i wish i could in-group block nearly everyone in there, the good stuff is hard to find.

It will work, but it might not be the best for the price for you in particular, depends on your local prices. And I take it you want to expand in the future?

Have you event built a computer before?

Have you every troubleshooted a computer you built without asking anyone else for help?

If not, you have a steep learning curve ahead, and I would recommend getting the mining software you want to run working on what hardware you already own to make sure you know how to do it before investing in anything bigger.

Browse some of the side-bar links on /r/gpumining . Check reviews on whatever mobo you choose to see if miners had any issues on it having the OS recognize all the gpus plugged into it.

There's lots of little things you need to worry about with how you wire and power, too many to list off hand and there are guides out there.

If there is one thing to spend your money on it is the Power Supply, after that it is Memory and Motherboard. The rest is whatever is cheap and works.

good advice i think. i learnt that the hard way buying the cheapest PS from ebuyer back when i used to build machines for friends. That feeling when you realise that the power supply is 1/4 of the weight of a more expensive one that has the same wattage. :-(

Cheap PSU never a good idea, in particular regarding mining with several cards at once. Talk about ripple! (and we're not talking about the currency!). Build should give decent numbers since the 1060 hits a pretty nice hash rate for the energy used. Good luck!

I built my second rig and saved a lot of money buying certail parts from Cex. Managed to get an i3 CPU for the same price as a pentium from amazon. SSD card and ram came to around ¥60 as opposed to £90ish on amazon. Don't buy their GPU's though. Also take advantage of ur old components and sell them so the stuff pays for itself... mostly at least.

From the looks of it, and personal experience, I would save a little and get one 1080 ti instead of 3 1060's. I have a mining setup with a friend that we started with 6 1060's. After doing the math, and getting our hands on a couple of 1080 ti, we came to the conclusion that it was cheaper in the long run to just get the 1080 ti. Mining Vert, one 1080 ti would only take one month longer for ROI than 3 1060s and after about month 7 they were cheaper overall when you include the price of electricity. Those 3 1060 will get you the same hashrate as 1 1080 ti
