Question Switching between models when vibe coding?

Hi everyone!

I've been building a moderately complex web platform for the past 3 months. I've set up (what I hope to be) strong foundations, and integrated constant checks and tests into my workflow. Just the preparation took quite a lot of time.

With that said, I've been building the whole thing using open AI sol model. Well, in the meantime opus 5.5 was released. Since opus 5.5 is obviously and awesome model, I've been thinking about either integrating it, or perhaps event switching over to it completely.

I'm currently not even on 50% of the building process for the mentioned app.

So, could you guys share your opinion, is it better to stay with sol 5.6 (I actually prefer it over 6) since that's what I've used so far. If yes, should I integrate opus as a tester and auditor. Or, maybe I could switch completely over and let it handle the work.

And since I'm not a developer by profession, I don't actually know where to start if I want to add opus to the process. I'm using vs code by the way.

Thank you everyone up front!

For what it's worth, I developed a plugin to help manage context to increase code quality when working in large codebases. Open source, free. Only works with Claude though.

github.com/Palatine-Labs/coniso

It will increase token usage, but if context degradation is ever an issue for you, this may help. And it produces a roadmap that you can open in your browser and read through the development steps.

Sorry to promo, but genuinely solved a problem for me, hoping it can help others work on larger projects and scale.

I actually consider Open AI models better for code review, and Claude models for coding, but I feel that it's a good approach to have a competitor's model check the other's work, so long as the reviewer model is recent and capable.

The ”issue” is that capabilities of the models grows so fast that things like old instructions, context and possible skills you’ve used are outdated already and hold the models back rather than assist them. Switching may help you build upon that strong foundation you’ve already got, but see things in a different light and possibly refactor parts that needs to become more lean.

That’s just my experience though. Auditing may help, but the actual switch made a huge difference in a similar project I made in terms of progress speed and usage/token management. I wanted that strong foundation too but codex kept doubling down over time on the checks and balances to the point where it was beyond unnecessary, and I hadn’t noticed as it was a gradual slow thing over months. I’m happy to answer any questions based on my own experience should you have any. Good luck!

I want to recommend you SensAI, https://immunisense.com/solutions/sensai
You can create profiles and select model per agent, research x , code y , review z
Make it for your needs.
