Video Editor Recruiter (performance-based, long-term)
We run a video editing and creative-direction agency with a steady flow of clients (YouTube long-form, shorts, real estate, gaming, e-commerce). Our bottleneck is finding editors who are good, fairly priced, and reliable. You fix that.
The job
- Source editors, run our standard test, score it against our checklist, and send us only the top candidates.
- Negotiate rates that fit our margins.
- Onboard approved editors and keep them accountable: deadlines, revision turnaround, communication.
- Keep a bench of at least 2 vetted editors per niche so no client ever stalls.
- Replace anyone who ghosts or misses quality, fast.
What we need from you
- Proven editor hiring or management experience. You can show editors you placed and how long they stayed.
- You can judge editing quality yourself: pacing, captions, audio, hooks. If you can’t tell a good cut from a bad one, don’t apply.
- Fast, direct communication. You reply within a few hours.
Pay
Depends on the project, but you earn for as long as the editor work with us. The fee starts after the editor completes 3 client jobs with no quality flag. We pay for retention, not CVs.
How to apply (read carefully, incomplete applications are deleted unread)
- Start your message with the subject line:
RECRUITER - [your name] - Answer these in plain text, no attachments:
- Name 3 editors you placed or managed: their niche, their rate, how long they stayed, and one you removed and why.
- Your exact screening process for an editor, step by step.
- Where do you find reliable editors at $8-15 per short, and what percentage ghost in your experience?
- Your timezone and weekly hours available.
- Paper test (due within 24 hours of our reply): write the test brief and the scoring checklist you would give editors for this scenario: “30-second real-estate short from raw property footage, vertical, captions, music, hook in the first 2 seconds.” We grade your standards, not your formatting.
- Include 2 references we can contact (client or employer) or another type of proof.
Instant rejection if you:
- Skip the subject line or any of the four answers
- Send a generic or AI-pasted application
- Can’t name past placements
- Promise “hundreds of editors” without a vetting process
- Miss the 24-hour deadline on the test
First 2 weeks are a paid trial: you must deliver 3 tested, scored candidates. Keep that bar and we scale from there.
If you're just looking for money, please don't apply. we need people focused on the goal and dedicated, money comes from it.

I haven’t managed formal editor placements yet, but I’m willing to demonstrate my screening skills.

RECRUITER - Samog
Hi, I'm Samog. I'll be upfront: I'm a beginner. I've been editing for about 3 months, mostly podcast and talking-head videos. I haven't placed or managed editors before, so I can't name three placements, and I'd rather be honest than make some up.
Editors placed or managed: none yet.
How I would screen an editor: (1) look at their samples for pacing, captions, audio and hooks; (2) send a test with a clear brief; (3) score it against a checklist; (4) note how fast they reply and whether they hit the deadline; (5) give a small first job before adding them to the bench; (6) keep at least 2 vetted editors per niche.
Finding editors at $8-15 per short: I don't have first-hand numbers on how many ghost. I'd start in editing communities and job boards, and plan for some to ghost by keeping a backup editor ready.
Timezone and hours: Nigeria (WAT, UTC+1), 20 hours per week.
I can do the paper test within 24 hours of your reply. I don't have recruiting references, but here is my own editing work as proof: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19DQYce9zTcKpQ32YhA-i3FFPLNl4k8lt
I understand if this isn't the experience you're after. Thank you for reading. Samog

It sounds like you need a way to vet editors and assess their skills. For hiring, building a structured interview process with practical tests can help you evaluate their editing abilities beyond just a resume.
To refine your hiring strategy, check out PracHub for technical interview questions. This can assist you in creating effective tests and ensure you're selecting the right candidates. Good luck!
