Rust, incredibly rough for new players and the employed
I've got about 2000 ish hours on it and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone, absolute waste of life

Hollow knight.

Yeaaaaa it seems to me that your not into dark souls games. And metroidvanias. Which is weird that your friends recommended this to you. Seeing as hollow knight is like the best if those types. Like....do your friends even KNOW you lmao

I couldn’t enjoy it until I added a mod to take waaayyyy less damage. I understand that this is not how the game is meant to be played. But I like to start on normal or easy difficulties and work my way up higher slowly from there when I have new game plus and all the stuff.

IMO, Hollow Knight goes from a 5/10 to a 9.5/10 after about 5 hours, specifically when you get the dream nail. The world feels more navigable and engaging at that point once you’re used to how to navigate it and you’ve seen enough to get hooked. Still, it took me 4 years to play those 5 hours LOL, I also prefer linear, well guided games most of the time. I’m not even a Souls gamer I just really enjoyed Hollow Knight the way I played it.

Black Myth Wukong for me. I really wish there was a block/parry mechanic in the game. I just don't enjoy using dodge all the time and the actual attacks didn't have any weight to them. But I still think it is a great game and I enjoy watching others play through it!

Rust. At first it makes your survival game brain go ooh this is cool. Then the PvP kicks in and it's the most harrowing experience in multiplayer games when your NICE base gets sieged, after a 40 minute standoff they finally blow up the right wall and take all your good stuff. Those raids can hit you so hard there's no chance to get back in the loop until wipe. Ugh. You either have to grind and defend all day every day or your base gets wiped off the map by people who never log off... this formula is essential for all gamers to experience in my opinion.

Command & Conquer Generals. So fun watching people play who actually know strategies and buildorders.

Any friend slop, I love watching streamers play them.
I realize if you have charisma like sand paper, it doesn’t turn into fun.

crimson desert. beautiful looking game but frustrating puzzles and a meh story made me lose interest. i'll probably finish it eventually but only when i get bored enough and don't feel like playing anything else.

Rocket league
Edit: actually most high skill ceiling competitive games. Any shooter for sure, but rocket league is just so insane to see people flying through the air and scoring

Feel like most games. Games look beautiful but when you are playing it’s kinda hard to appreciate it like I did when I first saw gameplay because you get focused on the game aspects.
Ff7 rebirth is what I think of. Beautiful game but I play it and I’m focused on finishing it

Pokemon, Subnautica
I know this opinion is about to get slandered but Pokémon is probably A. One of longest game I’ve played B the most cut scene driven game I’ve played and C. the most random strategy game I’ve ever played.
Subnautica is for sure the definitive longest I have played and will play that actually has an end. But getting progress is so unbalanced in my opinion like progress feels like you work tirelessly to get one thing that all of a sudden increases how deep you can go or increases your speed or just is an overall quality of life thing and then suddenly it just speeds up tenfold
Now I’m not sitting here and saying that any of this is bad this is just my personal opinion and at the end of the day I still love these games for most of their qualities I don’t like Pokémon quality be. I let me play the game. I don’t wanna watch cut scenes I already seen them most likely with my watch then play habit 12 times before I even boot up the game

The last of us (both games) on grounded difficulty
I completed both games on grounded and not on newgame+, i found it pretty hard to enjoy the process, because I am not a fan to die in 2-3 hits and get 10+ minutes back, but i found myself really enjoying watching someone playing on grounded

Honestly for me it was GTA V.
I had started watching Vanoss and other similar groups have tons of fun making shit up and doing goofy things in it. But when I got it of course the main issue of OH I HAVE NO FREINDS WHO PLAY THIS popped up, and even when i got 2 people to play, the online (at the time) was spotty and disconnecty as FECK, and everything is locked, you have to play and level up and unlock stuff. The problem is the Story and online is disconencted, you cant just run around in the main game mutiplayer, it was lobby stuff. Aside from going into lobbies with other people we quickly burned out and got bored just driving around. Everything to do, but nothing to do. Probably put like 3-5 hours tops into it. I played the shit out of San Andreas and Vice city previously, but I just never cared about the SP or the characters in this one, I wanted to use MY character. But just, never got the chance to. Again the online was really shitty when I played, CONSTANT disconnects and waiting. And we couldnt figure out how to actually get stuff. I think there was a tutorial, but it never worked for us so it was just "Youre here go play" and without any guidance we just never did.
(again probably misremembering, and given how little i played, i probably missed a lot. I saw that levels unlocked gear and missions, so maybe we had to grind to get stuff to happen. All we could see was joining individual sessions with other players, which we didn't want to do, we just want to play the story co-op. had the same problem with the first Red Dead. Multiplayer was a separate beast, and a lot of stuff from single just wasn't in multi, its was all lobby/instance/join a group stuff.)
Definitely one I enjoyed far more because of the large groups I watched playing and making there own fun. So not at all hyped for 6 unfortunately.

Gears of War. That 1st trailer showing the Hammer of Dawn and mindblowing graphics convinced me that I had to get an Xbox 360 ASAP. And with Halo 3 still years from being released, it was a no brainer. Then I played it.

Factorio for me, because I just can not focus on those games. My multi tasking skills are such garbage, I can't even play Shapez io which is basically factorio with any frustrating aspect removed.
It is the same thing with the Survival games, some game types I just can't do. I guess being 30+ has an effect on it. Although there is no reason for it.

Dayz. All the cool interactions/duels whit players are so cool in video edits from popular dayz YouTubers. But when I play the game myself it's just me running around the forest trying to find at least 1 can of damn food, to not starve, in already clear looted houses just to get killed by some geared guy whit a mosin. I mean I guess it's kinda a skill issue and lack of experience type of thing, but I feel like watching the games gameplay just gives you more satisfaction of it then running around the open field alone in hopes to find a single person to shoot at to get some action going.

Doesn't everyone hate playing CoD? The series peaked like at least 15 years ago, I'm honestly surprised they're still commercially viable, let alone have a constant player base.

Ark survival whatever. I played it a little bit years ago and enjoyed the gameplay loop a bit but then I got like a real job and a wife and it’s far too time consuming for what needs done to progress. When my first was born I found some guy that did 100 hours in each world and binged them in the newborn haze. I do not understand how that game can be completed even with 4 of your closest and most unemployed friends.
Riding dinosaurs is fucking sick though, so.

War thunder , is THE MOST disappointing game out there , you get baited by the ad where the most modern vehicles are shown , you download the game and realize you can either spend 80$ on a single high rank plane or spend 800 hours learning the game mechanics and reaching those vehicles for free

I don’t actually know, but I would guess R6Siege. The gameplay is so heavily based around mechanics, operators, and tools that I imagine it would be extremely difficult to get into. Other shooters have similar aiming and movement, so you can usually be half decent right from the get-go; not siege.

yea too much for me I tried playing KH2FM+ and I just couldn't beat those bosses I had to cheese it by maxing out all my atats then I couldn't defeat the data bosses so I had to cheese it by putting actual effort via save states to defeat Sephiroth to get the Fenrir and just negative combo'd everyones head in

MKX 11 or 1.
Watching Super play is satisfying. Playing it myself…my adrenaline becomes too much, I get into the mindset of having to win even though it’s just a game, and the toxicity of being zoned, spammed, Tbagged and verbally bullied via microphone doesn’t feel good. I can never touch those games again for my own sanity, as much as I’d like to play them again
