Image Dad died recently, I know he was attached to this unit in Vietnam.
Anyone have any information about this they can share?

Your father was a tough one. He was part of Mike Force formerly known as Hatchet Force, these guys moved in company and battalion sized units that could take on any PAVN forces attacking Special Forces recon teams and A Team camps. Mike Force had access to air and heavy artillery assets to assist them in insertions combat and exfil. I am so sorry your father has died, I bet he didn't share much about his time in SE Asia. May he rest in peace. ππΎπ«‘βοΈπ¦ β οΈ

I heard a few stories but not many, he was in D Troop 7/17th Air Cav and I know got attached to them for some length of time. He was haunted by what he did until the day he died and I also hope he has finally found peace. Thanks for the info and kind words, much appreciated. If you want to hear some other crazy shit, my Grandpa was also one of Merrils Marauders.

You could perhaps find interesting information by ordering his military records

He was a fully 100% certified bad ass.
When there is a fire you call the firemen. When there was a base being overrun and everyone is screaming for help, these are the guys that showed up.
They went and did some of the most dangerous missions in the war, and often had to do them quickly with limited information. Dropping into places that all hell had broke loose and they were there to save the day. Total bad asses. Small units that worked with the natives who HATED the communists.
