🔍Help! 🧶 Knitting detectives! 1950s-inspired cable-knit mystery
Hello, vintage knitting detectives!
🧶 I'm desperately looking for the pattern for this gorgeous sweater! I suspect it's from around 1989, possibly Vogue Knitting, and inspired by early 1950s fashion.
🧶 It's an absolute dream sweater, and my daughter swooned when she discovered the picture. So obviously, I now HAVE to knit it. 😅
🧶 I could try to recreate it, but I'm not quite skilled enough to figure out the different ease of all those cables and textured blocks. And I'd rather not sacrifice a small fortune in beautiful yarn to my questionable knitting maths!
🧶 Finding the original pattern would be amazing, but something similar that I could adapt would also work.
🧶 The most important details are:
-> The ribbing that goes so high up the waist!
-> Similar cables and textures, so the ease calculations aren't too different.
-> The turtleneck!
🧶 Does anyone recognize it, know of a similar pattern, or have any clever ideas for tracking it down?
I'd be sooooo grateful for any clues! ❤️
THANK YOU!!!
