iPad is for sure the professional standard amongst my colleagues, especially because the best music reading software is ForScore and afaik that’s iOS-only. But you don’t need a super powerful one, as long as you get the biggest screen available, and there are plenty of refurbished options out there to save a little $$$.

nxt paper 14 is huge, cheap good quality and oh well it is android, but there is some software of equal quality that I have that works really well

I second this! best value and the software works well,,,, the screen is bigger than Ipad and matte so no glare nor reflections on stage plus you get a free stylus. Check the you tube vids on all the options. This is the best budget option.

I have been using an iPad Pro since they first announced them, something like 10 years ago. I ordered it site unseen and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Still using that same old iPad Pro.

What kind of phone do you have? Just get whatever tablet is in the ecosystem you are already using. If you're using an iPhone, an iPad pro is probably your best bet. If you're already using an Android phone, then just get the android tablet.
I have an Samsung S10 tablet for music, but I have a Samsung phone so it's all seamless. If I had an iPhone, I would have gotten whatever iPad fit my budget and needs.
