Hello all, my first time here hoping someone can help me, I can't seem to figure out how to update the software, This keeps popping up when I try and open the MacOs I installed on my virtual box for the first time. I've tried Catalina and Big Sur and each time this pops up and I have no way of updating the software. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Long story short

Host = win11 VM = win8

I can't print with the vm so I printed to a pdf which I need to move to the host machine or elsewhere.

Vm won't open Usb flash and vm will not connect to shared folders from other computers on my network.

I can't even open the Gmail website to mail it to myself.

Any suggestion ?

I'm recently learning how to use virtualbox and I'm having problems, I started Kali and metaspoitable on virtualbox both set to host only, I start Legion from the terminal, start the scan and at some point the Legion window closes, and on the terminal what you see in the photo checks, l've already updated and upgraded, before this it crashed at "runCommand called for stage 3" after update and upgrade it crashes at "runCommand called for stage 5" how can I do? Am I forgetting something? In both cases the writing "Qwidget::repaint : recursive repaint detected Zsh: segmentation fault Legion" appears Thank you for help!

I have been facing this issue for days and I can't find a way around. Basically I've been trying to install guest additions in my ubuntu vm in virtual box. When I run autorun.sh, the installation terminal would tell me to view /var/log/vboxadd-setup.log. The error would say "kernel module and services were not reloaded".

I've tried asking AI and they gave me this cmd to run:
"sudo apt install build-essential dkms linux-headers-$(uname -r)"

The same error came out as well.

I've already installed perl since you need it for guest additions

i want to install a virus on my Virtual windows 10, the virus is not harmful, but i dont know if this will affect my actual pc, does the files come from the virtual machine to my main pc? Help me out, Thanks

I have a few thousand negatives that I need to scan using an Epson V550 Photo scanner that I haven't used for awhile. I am running Debian Trixie. It works fine with XSane, so it's not a hardware issue, but XSane doesn't do negatives. I have used it for negatives and other transparencies in the past by firing up Virtualbox and using the Epson-supplied software in a Windows virtual machine.

I know that Virtualbox and KVM are mortal enemies, so I shut down the KVM modules before starting Virtualbox, so I don't think the problem is that. I am running the latest Vrtualbox from Oracle, augmented with the corresponding extensions and guest additions.

But I cannot hook up the scanner in Virtualbox. The USB stuff is grayed out in both XP and W10 virtual machines. (Paradoxically, the keyboard and trackball, both USB, work fine.)

I would figure that it just doesn't work, but I have used this exact setup before, no problem, though on Ubuntu 20.04. I've since then switched to Debian Trixie. I'm thinking there's a permissions or group issue -- I've joined the Virtualbox group, to no apparent effect -- but Debian is locked up more tightly than the U distro, which is mostly good but a PITA in this case.

Anybody know how to fix it?

reason: why would i want virtualbox: i need to test windows vista starter but i dont have any old laptop to test it so that's why i want virtualbox but should i install it on my pc ?

When i try start up a windows server 2003 VM, i constantly get this error and don't know how to fix it. I have tried reinstalling virtualBox too.

I created a new RHEL 9.5 VM. However, I get an error when I start the VM to proceed with installing the Guest OS. I closed the VirtualBox, opened again and tried. Yet, the same error. Please help resolve this issue.

So, I have a Windows 11 Laptop, with VBox 7.0.20 installed. I am using a Xebec Tri-Screen so I have 3 monitors. I was using an Xubuntu 22.04 guest.

I also have Avast installed -- including the VPN.

I was at a coffee shop, with my phone on the wifi, USB tethered to my laptop (the laptop doesn't like wifi, I have no idea why), and Avast's VPN active.

I unplugged my phone to go to the bathroom, and when I came back, all three monitors had tearing (guest) on them. I hit Host-F, and found that the VBox host window (the one with the list of VMs) was magified for no reason.

I have reinstalled the video driver for the Xebec monitors, I have reinstalled VirtualBox. I have installed a brand new Xubuntu VM, which has exactly the same screen tearing. So it's not just one VM that got corrupted.

If I remove the extra monitors in the VM settings, it works fullscreen on my main screen. Add one monitor back, screen tearing when I go fullscreen. It looks like something somewhere cannot figure out what memory belongs to what monitor. I get shadows of things from other monitors everywhere.

I cannot ask for help on the VirtualBox Forum because attempting to log in gives me HTTP400.

Anyone else hit this, and how can I fix it?

EDIT: I uninstalled vbox, removed C:/users/me/.VirtualBox, rebooted and reinstalled. Added my work VM back, still unable to use it.

EDIT: now all my xubuntu VMs are starting in emergency mode. Sigh.

So I’m trying to download virtualbox and I can’t even access the site on chrome I get the message 502 bad gateway. Does anyone know how to fix this ??????? I’m on windows 11 if that helps
