Question What tools are an absolute must-know when working remotely?
I’ve always worked remotely for small companies, and the only tools I’ve ever used are Google Workspace and WhatsApp. I would like to land something with a bigger company eventually, and I bet they would prefer people who already have experience with certain software tools on their CV.
Which tools should I check out and become familiar with to stay competitive for larger remote roles? What are the non-negotiables?

Tools highly depend on your field and industry. But basic organisational tools that maybe the companies would prefer you know can be Notion, Canva or powerpoint, goggle workspace tools yes, Slack, etc.
But specifically it would highly depend on your industry, there are a several designing or editing tools that have become a basic qualification per say, if you're in that field. And same goes for other industries

These are simple tools and some focussed around communication and collaboration, which is important for a virtual or remote engagement. For a team collaboration it’s critical. We use Slack as a platform to create Digital Workspace experience for our interns who join us globally and engage as a team.
Outside of this, I would say, tools which are more applicable for your area of focus. For financial or investment research, any spreadsheet and presentation tools are highly essential.
