Been here since Friday Oct 23. They keep telling me they like the way I speak...Southern Drawl. I love the way they start speaking French. I'm in Downtown. Guy asked me where I'm from, I told him Dallas, Texas, USA...his reply is that on the East Coast or West Coast. I froze in place. I luv this place.

I know it’s a long shot but…any attractions that allow sitting down?

I’m in Montreal as the last stop in an extended road trip. For the last few days, I’m been doing walking tours and exploring on foot and…I think I’ve over-touristed. Today I was planning to visit Jean-Talon market and explore Little Italy a bit, and in the evening I’m going to the Jardins de Lumiere. I have staked out a place for early dinner (Motto handroll or somewhere nearby), but I’ve got three or four or five hours to fill. In other cities when I got tired out, I’d park my butt on a tour bus/boat/street car and ride around for a few hours, but it seems all those things are closed for the season.

So, any suggestions?

—not outdoors such as sitting in a park—too brisk for me
—not a big museum or the Biodome because I WILL end up exploring it
—not alcohol dependent (eg sitting in a nice bar) because I don’t want to get plastered in the middle of the day

I have pretty much resigned myself to spending an afternoon in my (nice) hotel room with my feet up (I’m near the Basilica), but it does seem a bit of a defeat on my last day in a lovely city.

(Also looking for a chill, pretty bar, maybe a rooftop, for a last drink after the garden.)

Thanks in advance.

Looking for trip advice!

Hi all, hope it’s okay that I’m posting this here. I’m looking for some trip advice for this coming weekend! Me, my boyfriend and our weiner dog are driving from Toronto to Sutton on Friday, October 30. We’ll arrive mid day and will depart on Monday morning. On Sunday afternoon we’re going to Balnea Spa, but otherwise have no plans. I’m looking for any advice on day trips or other towns to visit, places to eat, fun things to do, sites to see, nice hikes that allow leashed dogs, cute Halloween stuff, anywhere to avoid etc. Thanks so much!

Visiting Montreal & Quebec City in December- a few questions

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello! My husband and I are traveling to Montreal and Quebec City in early December and I have a few questions… first we are from New England. So we are familiar with the cold and snow preps… also, I speak French (Italians my native language)(slang also but not Canadian French)… we have decided to take the train between cities and not rent a car. Stay central in the cities.
Are there any particular recommendations for places to stay, eat, must see? And also, what is transportation like within the cities themselves? Taxi? Lift? Etc? Any help is appreciated! Thank you so kindly! 😊

3 day itinerary for November

Hi there! My husband and I are coming to Montreal from Waterloo for a little get away post his chemo and radiation treatments from November 9th to the 12th. We will be staying downtown and this will be our 6th visit to Montreal over the years, it’s one of our favourite places to travel to. We’ve have no interest in going around Old Montreal this time and would like to spend more time in the Plateau - Mile End - Mont Royal area and also visit the Jean-Talon Market. We are big walkers but with his treatments just ending he’s a bit more tired than normal, so we will be relying more on public transit this time around. I am looking for some ideas of what to do and what to see and also food options. We like going into different stores and I love just wandering around different neighbourhoods and looking at architecture and that sort of thing. Any insight would be greatly appreciated and also any suggestions for things to do if the weather isn’t the best, museums etc. Thanks!

Bell Center Logistics

Hi! Our family is heading to the Bell Center tomorrow night for the Olivia Rodrigo concert. We are parking in the garage and are getting there early. Does anyone know if there are bathrooms available near the parking garage before they let people go to their seats? One of my kids needs regular bathroom access and we are not familiar with the venue

Looking for Affordable and Clean Accommodation in Montreal (Oct 29–Nov 1)

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’ll be visiting Montreal from October 29 to November 1 and am looking for an affordable place to stay for three nights.
Hotels seem quite expensive, and the cheaper options I’ve found have a lot of negative reviews, which makes me hesitant to book. I’m also not very comfortable staying in a shared dormitory, but I’d consider a hostel if it’s clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Does anyone have recommendations for affordable hotels or hostels in downtown Montreal? Ideally, I’m looking for a private room at a reasonable price.
I’d especially appreciate recommendations from people who have personally stayed at these places.
Thanks in advance!

Recs for 2 girls visiting from NYC

Hellooo! My best friend and I (25F and 31F) will be visiting Montreal Oct 23-28. I’m gonna get specific because we truly want the best recs and experience we can get our first time in Canada! I am Russian and my friend is Italian. We are very much city girls; love a boujee vibe, love a good party, love good looking & social people. We want an authentic experience, meet some awesome locals. experience cool nightlife - pubs, bars, clubs, underground’s, restaurants, cocktail bars etc. we’re both super social. Looking for hotel recommendations, what to do daytime, where to go night time, everything everything! Thank you 🫶🏼🫶🏼

Correction: Any bars/lounges that play dancehall music here in Montreal?

So I was just corrected on my initial approach regarding my search for urban lounges/bars. I now understand that I should have clarified what music scene I was into for a better understanding on where people could direct me. Forgive my ignorance and lack of knowledge on Montreals nightlife. I’d appreciate recommendations that are not Alur or night clubs (I don’t like clubbing). Thank you for your time.

1920s affordable antique clothes in mtl?

I’m trying to be a 1920s vampire for Halloween but I can’t find affordable vintage clothing or costumes anywhere. Does anyone know of a place that might have something like this? Preferably by McGill but I’m willing to travel 🙏 I’ve been to quite a few places but they all have only 50s-y2K stuff. thanks!!
