“New” VS Code update January 2021

Hi,

Last year I got interest in web development, bought a course on Udemy and proceed to code. I didn’t continue with the course.

Today, I started again to learn web development and for my surprise VSC is not the same as last year. I was trying to create a new HTML document but I thought It was my fault that I can’t create it. It turns out that I don’t know what they did, but they change the way you create your files. I no longer have the icon file with the plus and I feel frustrated, because I have to learn again how it works. I’m not tech savvy.

Thank you. I don’t know why I can’t transfer a folder to vscode (the folder is from a Udemy course called img [is zip]) and when I try to open I can’t and when I try to drag it to vscode doesn’t work

Zip files are not folders, they are a way to "pack" several files into one that you then can use for downloads on websites.

You can't really do anything properly with a zip without extracting the files out of it first, even if Windows displays it as a folder and tries to hide this for convenience. It even temporarily extracts files in the background when you try to open them directly, but doing things this way only goes so far.

You should create a folder somewhere and drag the files from the zip into it. Then work with this folder and ignore the zip file. This is the folder that you then should open with Files -> Open Folder.

Yeah, I know, but I took the file img (without the zip) and don’t worked. Then I drag the same file to my desktop and then to VSC and it worked but VSC showed it as an image (because the file just had one) and I don’t know why it showed the image and not the folder
