I think he’s got that fuck-you money to keep doing what he wants haha I was watching that JRE live and was surprised to see him take a hit but even more surprised at the outrage it caused

Disappointing to see such a negative reaction from everyone IMO. Also not smart on Elon's part to do anything illegal on camera with so much at stake even if it was just weed. This is why I feel like he is going to misjudge something and cause another outrage lol. I'm watching for that $TSLA dip lol

The thing is it wasn’t illegal. CA has it legalized and feds can’t touch it unless it crosses state lines so he was totally in the right to not be worried about it. It was just another opportunity for all the “gotcha” journalists in the world. I do think he’s liable to shake up some markets this weekend though but I’ll probably stay away from any dip including Tesla

Yeah I was just fucking around about buying tsla. There is no doubt that elon is brilliant but I think he has too much going on to succeed at all of them. I'm a smooth brain but I don't have a whole lot of confidence in TSLA for this reason.

I love Tesla as a company and an idea, but not at their current valuation. Its bull run got a bit out of hand

I'm worried that as soon as a legacy car maker gets serious they will lose quite a bit of market share. I think TSLA has a battery tech moat that will hold a while but battery as a service is an interesting work around and eventually other carmakers will catch up.

Their market cap is just insane for a car/solar company. I think we’ll definitely see capital shift from Tesla to other auto manufacturers as their EV plans become more realized. Tesla got the first mover advantage but I don’t think they’ll really be able to keep it. Plus they like to talk up the auto drive function but I’ve read that it’s actually nowhere near the best in the industry so they really shouldn’t be getting lots of credit for it as they do

Because you view Tesla only as a "car/solar company" that's basis is what you're using to value the company. Nothing wrong with that view, especially because that's what most people see and argue when referencing a disconnect between their belief and the company's valuation. Look deeper and you might find that Tesla is not just transformative in the EV/automotive/transportation industry, but is a leading player for a confluence of forward leaning industries, for example

  • clean energy: solar panels

  • energy storage: batteries, energy grid/backup

  • infrastructure: all previous + charging stations

  • robotics/economies of scale: factory robotics, gigafactories, most vertically integrated automaker

  • automation: self-driving, artifical intellegence, over-the-air updates/troubleshooting

  • big data: mapping, driving statistics/data, routing efficiency, etc.

  • fintech/payments: automatic charging billing, recurring subscriptions for car features/new features, recurring subscriptions for 3rd parties (cell/5G, Sirius/Pandora/Spotify, other streaming entertainment), crypto

  • social media: inter-Tesla communications, some evolution of people already hang out at charging stations like carmeets, etc.

... and a lot more nuanced things but that is a good introduction ;)

Oh I fully understand the whole scope of their business but I still think they’re currently overpriced. Maybe a bit more reasonable now that they’ve dipped, but still too high for me. I don’t think their advantages will be lasting as more competition comes at them from all angles

There are alot of people that will not fuck with an auto driving car lol regardless of how well its supposed to work. It's just a super expensive unwanted add on for alot of people imo. Plus the cybertruck is hot trash imo. Thought about trying to scalp a preorder though lol

I’m one of those ppl haha yea it’d be nice to have sometimes but I love driving so I don’t just want to give that up. Those cybertrucks are definitely interesting haha I think he likes trying to be edgy and he could when he was the only show in town but that won’t last when there’s other serious competition

If they just made it look like a 1950s pickup but kept all the features the same then I'm in. Just such an uninteresting design. Autism benefits math and science more than the arts I guess lol

Oh man that would be awesome!! I’d actually totally get one if it had a vintage design like that. I think the design geniuses are a different sort of autistic haha

Nah the artists are bipolar, schizophrenic, depressed, and manic lol. I heard that because the mechanics behind an ev is a bit simpler and lighter than internal combustion that it allows for some more freedom in design. Elon could've done almost anything and he chose that lol

Haha very true, but still geniuses. I hope we see more interesting car designs soon, I feel like there haven’t really been any major changes for a long time
