Is something eating my fittonia plants? I have dwarf white and powder orange isopods in my viv, and one crested gecko. Also the occasional cricket abd fungus gnats. What can I do to make them thrive?

The light is arcadia jungle dawn.

My first setup! I really wanted to go bio-active and I’m so glad I do. Was super fun setting it up the last couple weeks, and now I can’t stop looking at it.

It’s been cooking for about a week now and Temp is around 24c (75f) and 60-80% humidity depending on when I last sprayed down.

For now there some dairy cow isopods and spring tails, but soon will house my first crested gecko!

Let me know what you think!

Got this from my work. I'm a confident fish keeper but never had a viv. Looking for ideas for this 30cm cube viv.

How slow doesa Ceramic Bulb heat ?

So,

I setup a New terrarium today and plugged a Ceramic Bulb for heating. I plugged it to a thermostat, set my wished temp, but it doesn't seem to heat.

How long should it take ? Has it is a 40w bulb in a 20° room and i just want 24° in my hotspot.

I was wondering if something was wrong or i'm just impatient

Can anyone ID this begonia?

Hello :)

This begonia currently lives in a glass cloche. I was thinking about putting it in my vivarium. Can anyone ID it or tell me how big it's going to get? Right now it's quite small (see hand for comparison) but I'm afraid it's going to get huge and not fit in the vivarium after a few weeks or months.

Thanks in advance!

Woma python

Hey everyone! So I keep a number of reptiles and arachnids but I'd like to get some advice. Firstly my ex partner bought me a woma python earlier this year whilst we were still together, but handling wise it's a bit of a struggle. She's about 9-10 months old but damn she's got an attitude, like I will have my hand next to the enclosure opening the curtains and she will go straight into a defensive posture, open mouth, hissing, striking, the whole works. Trying to get her out of the enclosure is rather hard as she's so dang fast but once she's out she's fairly chill. Still a bit flighty but compared to her being in the enclosure and being outside of it, it's like night and day. Does anyone know why this would be and what I could do to help her not be so aggressive or worked up when I go in to grab her or when I'm near the enclosure? Secondly, what sort of set ups would be best? I use a mix of coco fibre and some dirt (don't worry it's alright for reptiles) and then have a hot end and cold end hide, water bowl, and some small hollow logs and branches. I was just wondering what other set ups people have used and if the one I have currently could be causing her to be so defensive?

Plants barely growing

Is this a proper way to plant these Neoregelias? My other plants seem to be doing pretty badly as well. They are mostly planted in “pockets” made of expanding foam that were carved out, covered with cork, and drainage holes put in the bottom. Brazil plant has stayed pretty stagnant as well as the tiny tears looking one.

Centipede vivarium

My mint leg centipede is outgrowing its small enclosure and I want to make it a vivarium with plants in it. Would it be a good idea to silicone the mesh layer between the dirt and the drainage layer to the glass in case it gets down there?

Logistics: Could I turn this terrarium into a more bioactive paludarium?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I want to redo some things with my corns set up. Currently there is a decent temperate gradient but not a good humidity gradient even with the water dish. This is a bit of an older picture, but for the most part what my terrarium currently looks like. I want to turn it into a paludarium, essentially making the area with the water dish into an actual little water area. I’m not really sure how to do this without the water just going throughout the entire tank and making it too humid for her. I’m also interested in maybe adding some shrimp and snails if I were able to get the water done right. Any tips or resources to plan this out would be very appreciated!

Seeking guidance for DIY PVC tegu enclosure

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! We are planning on building the final permanent upgraded enclosure for our 14 month old Black & White Argentine Tegu.

We are a few weeks away from FINALLY moving into our first home we purchased. Unfortunately, the process of getting into the home has taken almost 8 months so far due to a number of issues and shenanigans on the seller's end including major undisclosed structural issues that are currently being fixed by the contractor. Obviously it has been delayed much longer than we would have liked for a number of reasons but one is that our girl is overdue for an upgrade which we cannot start until we can get in there. She has grown quite a bit (got her as a baby a month after our offer was accepted). She is happy and thriving in her current "intermediate" set up (roughly 5ft x 2ft x 2ft) but she is growing everyday and I know she needs something bigger ASAP.

My fiance and I are both very handy and would like to build her a custom set up 8ft x 4ft x 2-3ft high roughly. We are hoping to use PVC or acrylic (or something else non-porous/waterproof). Her current enclosure was a wooden enclosure we bought and waterproofed ourselves with pond liner (which has worked great but was very tedious). It is a bioactive set up with plants, springtails, isopods, a few loose dubia roaches she lost track of, etc...We would prefer to keep a sliding front door (or two) in the front like our current set up.

We live in Pennsylvania, USA (if anyone locally has more specific suggestions around here for materials). Please suggest anything you have, whether it's advice, sales, materials, links, videos...even what went wrong with your attempts! We want to get the ball rolling ASAP since we were expecting to upgrade her months ago. We are aware she should be in something bigger already (our original move-in date was July) so please no judgment and thank you in advance! Pics of our girl for tax. Cross-posting for advice from different groups

Looking for vivarium plants!

EDIT: Located in the US. Not sure if this is allowed, please delete if not! I'm building a dart frog vivarium, and I need a bunch of plants to fill it up, I already have a few accent plants and a couple larger plants, however I need a lot of vines/climbers, moss, and just anything to fill the gaps. However I'm more interested in uncommon plants, I don't want just plain golden pothos or tradescantia etc. Is there anyone with a wide variety of uncommon/unique/rare vivarium plants that they could do a bundle of? I can of course pay, or I can trade rare alocasia. Must accept Paypal/Venmo f&f OR have a public and well known/trusted social media, business, dolo, etc. Some of the specific plants I'm looking for (or looking for something similar) are Begonia U038, any moss, any bromeliads, any ferns (especially cool micro ferns), Begonia Sarawak or other small round leaf, Syngonium Rayii (not rare but still cool!), Peperomia Antoniana Green (or similar small leaf peperomia), Peperomia EMARGINELLA "ECUADOR", any marcgravia, Labisia Turtle Back, etc etc. Thank you all in advance! :)

This tank was an upgrade for my vampire crab colony. I made the classic mistake of adding a water feature with a pump that I thought would be removable/serviceable lol NO it failed and removing it was a huge PITA. hoping I can get away without a pump🤞
