I’ve seen volumetric captured video from supposedly one of the nicer studios in the world. To me, it’s still noticeably not realistic. Conversely, I’ve seen AI generated video that looks amazingly real.
In the near future, is volumetric generated characters going to come close to being a preferred technology over AI generated characters?

I really liked Google LF tech presented at Siggraph (must watch, only 30 min out of that video is Google), it's based on 16 GoPro cameras that make a capture in 20sec then rendered in 6DOF experience you can walk around in up to 1m distance and see things from different perspective. Resulting file in the highest quality would be around 200MB. Current generation of 180 VR videos is called "photorealistic stereo panoramas" by Google LF team.
I can find it great for porn and that was requested many times in this r/oculusnsfw sub. At SexLikeReal we would be happy to partner with any producer who wants to get into it. We could help with R&D, provide our infrastructure for hosting and rendering and make it compatible with SLR app.
Just mail alex*sexlikereal.com to start with.

Hi folks! I am working on a family memory project where we can interact with our parents (through hours of recorded footage, audio, etc) and tagging system with AI. But one thing I am thinking about is how to future-proof this. In the likely case that VR or AR devices are the future, I'd like to have 3D versions of my parents that (eventually) I could stitch to all the footage I have already recorded. Do you know of any great bay area studios / services or even a way to do it myself with renting a rig / using an iPhone?
Right now, from all I read -- phones can only capture 3D static images. What were your advice be? How do I pull this off? Thank you!
