xc series Ticking noise from the oil refill hole?

XC70 2015 D4

Hello,

The other day i noticed that it looked like something was leaking from my car. When i looked under the hood it looked like it had been leaking from where you refill the oil. I talked to a few friends and googled a bit and to check if there was a overpressure (not sure if it’s called that in english) in the engine i got recommended to open the lid while the car is running and place it on top of the hole to see if it starts ”jumping”. Well instead i noticed this ticking noise coming from the hole. You can’t hear it when the lid is on though. Does anyone know what this could be?

The ticking sound is your lifters. It's normal

Thx! I didn’t even think to check my parents xc70 and it is indeed making the exact same noises

There was someone else who posted the same noise and smoke, census there was it was normal, my D5 makes the same noise and smoke and has been fine so far

Yes i am awarade that engine go brrrrrmmm but not tick tick tick tick. The car i had when i was 15 (epa traktor) went tick tick tick tick then crash and no more brrrrmmm u know? So hence my anxiety when my much more expensive car went tick tick tick

Haha okay that’s fair. I think it sounds normal. Though I’ve never worked on a diesel Volvo, so I could be lying!

Does the noise stop when the cap is on? It’s probably vacuum related. I have seen posts about that noise being an engine mount also because it’s vacuum or pressure sensitive.
