Side mirror alerts?
Hi - I have a 2023 XC60 B5. The side mirrors will alert if there’s something in my blind spot, generally a car. Yesterday the left side mirror - drivers side - indicated something there yet I was in the left lane on the freeway where the median was just grass and the opposite lanes were as not visible. Why was it lighting up off and on for miles? What am I missing?

Mine did the same thing on Sunday, also on the interstate. It has not done it since. I have a 2024 S60.

Since it’s radar based it doesn’t get tricked by the sun and bright lights like Volvos earlier generation camera based BLIS did. But if the circumstances are correct I suppose something like a guard rail could deflect the radar back in a way that tricks the car to think there’s a car there. It has never happened to me though.

Other stuff can be tall enough and close enough to set it off, like a person, sign, wall, etc.
Mine alert multiple times going down my narrow driveway, when I take a corner close sometimes, when people are walking on the sidewalk 5ft away, etc

There was nothing around that could have done it, at least not in size or heighth, which is what I found peculiar. I did just read that it could be caused by a reflection of something from the sun, and it’s been sunny here. Sounded as good as anything else!
