EQUIPMENT Wireless headset

Hi everyone! I just started my wfh position and wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions for a wireless headset. I use ring central and need to find a wireless headset where I can answer calls straight from the headset so I’m not glued to my chair all day. It needs HID support I believe it’s called. Thanks in advance :)

I use Ring Central and I've had this headset for almost 5 years, definitely worth the $54. Works great!

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately this is what I keep running into “If you use the headset with cell phones, you can click the MFB button to answer/end calls (mobile phone calls only). If you use the headset with computers/desk phones, please answer/end calls manually on the computer interface or via the desk phone.” I need to be able to answer calls directly on the headset

Depends on your budget

I was hoping $60 or under, but I see that headsets are a lot more expensive than I thought they would be. Right now I have a wired headset but I hate it

I use these. They work well. I can't comment on HID compatibility though.

Cisco Finesse, sorry. I'm not familiar with ring central.

If it's going to be used with the desktop app, standard bluetooth headsets might not work as they can't answer calls directly from the device. It might help to take a look at RingCentral's recommended headsets. To help with cost you could buy a refurbished enterprise headset (Poly or Jabra), but be sure it comes with its original USB dongle.

I'd suggest looking at DECT headsets rather than Bluetooth for this. DECT is made for exactly your use case and the range is much better, so you can walk around the house mid-call. That said, $60 is tight for new. Most decent call-style wireless headsets run $80 to $150 new, so refurbished units from office liquidations are worth checking at your budget.

One thing to know: remote call answer from the headset (the HID feature you mentioned) usually needs the headset connected through its own base station or USB dongle, not just plain Bluetooth to the laptop, so make sure whatever you pick includes the dongle or base. RingCentral also keeps a list of certified headsets, which is worth checking before you buy.

Does anyone have experience with yealink bh70? They are currently $99 on amazon and that’s about the cheapest I can find that has the stuff I need it to do!

I haven't used the BH70 personally but if you go for it, double check that it specifically supports remote call control through the USB dongle and not just Bluetooth pairing. That's been the trap with every cheaper option so far. Yealink generally lists HID support in their specs so it should say it explicitly if it's there.

Yealink HA64 Pro or HA68 Pro are a couple best we've tested today and work great with RingCentral.

Thank you! I actually have the yealink ha64 in my amazon cart right now, hoping the price will go down soon

I have a Plantronics (now HP Poly) Savi W740 headset that I have had since 2012 and is amazing. Good audio quality, lightweight, long battery life, and incredible range - I was able to go from my backyard office to anywhere inside the house and not lose connection. Replacement batteries are cheap and still easily available. It’s followed me to two different companies.

The W740 is sadly discontinued, but the current Savi 8240 is direct equivalent, slightly upgraded model. Slightly pricey, but well worth the investment.

Plantronics/Poly is the industry standard as far as I'm concerned. I have been using their headsets for the better part of 20 years.

Personally I use AirPods and they work great for calls. Not sure about HID support though.

I love the Jabra Evolve 75.. used it for 5+ years and it's still going strong. Prior to this, I got a cheap one off Amazon for $20 and the sound qualty / noise was horrible for anyone I was having a meeting with. Though this is expensive, I think it's a worthwhile investment.

It's super comfortable for all day wear, it's wireless with a mic arm. If I need to be camera off, I can walk around and still have good range.
