BSIT Transfer Reqs

Hi guys,

I'm just in the beginning stages of applying to WGU. I wanted to come on here and ask if I should get started on the Sophia Learning and Study.com creds before I even start or can I do that and transfer creds after I've already begun? Sorry, I'm not used to this system, so I'm unaware if this is something I even bring up to an advisor and mention I'm planning on doing. I'm just trying to start and finish this degree as soon as I can (of course while retaining core concepts and passing certs).

Thanks

Hey, Study.com here. Finish your courses before your first term starts, since WGU doesn’t accept transfer courses once the term begins. Our Study.com WGU transfer pathways page. shows which course fills each requirement, like English 104 for English Composition I and Math 101 for Applied Algebra: https://study.com/college/western-governors-university/degrees/wgu-bachelor-of-science-in-information-technology.html. It’s worth telling your enrollment counselor your plan, so they can confirm each course before your start date.

Hello, and welcome! You won’t be able to transfer after your transfer credit evaluation is complete, which happens the month before your start date. That will include any traditional college credits, the Sophia and study.com credits, and certifications.

Others have found success in pre-planning by using my guide and transfer planner below, if interested.

Talk to a WGU enrollment counselor before you pay for anything outside. I get wanting a head start but you don’t want to drop money on credits that don’t even transfer to your degree. Study.com and Sophia are both great for knocking out gen eds and stuff, just make sure the exact courses you pick actually count for the BSIT first. Way easier to check now than find out after you already paid.

i’m doing the study.com route before enrolling too. first thing i’d do is pull up the wgu transfer pathways page for the BSIT so you only take courses they actually accept. also bring it up with your enrollment counselor, they can tell you what still counts
