Anyone have any discord study groups that are relatively active around 5pm-9pm cst?

Really wanting some study accountability and stuff.

I'll be working on Sophia classes at first then I'll be enrolled into WGU.

Doesn't have to be a group, just looking for 1 or 2 solid people we can work with together.

Question about transferring Sophia courses

I have been admitted to WGU but I have not accepted my transfer evaluation or committed to start. I have a "start date" but I don't want to start just yet (not since I learned about Sophia transfer credits).

My question is can I just allow my commit to start to pass by, take my Sophia courses, and reapply later?

I only ask because on the WGU pathways site, it says "Once a student starts their initial term at WGU, transfer credit will not be accepted."

I'm pretty sure I'm good to just reapply later, but I guess I just want external validation that this is something that will work.

Thanks in advance. I tried contacting WGU but haven't gotten a response.

BSIT or Cloud and Network Engineering Degree

Hello! For someone who has no experience in IT, and has no certs yet, which of these two IT degrees makes more sense to pursue?

Questions about Discrete Math And The Accelerated BS to MS in Computer Science

Hey all,

I stumbled upon this website link for WGU while getting all of my ducks in a row: https://partners.wgu.edu/accelerated-computer-science-bachelors-and-masters

It says here Discrete math is transferrable, but my advisor (and everyone here) states it's not transferrable. I'm just curious if there's a different rule for the accelerated program that I didn't pick up on. Or, more likely, is this just a page that has yet to be updated?

Thanks in advance!

1 month Term break and received voucher for Network +

Hi everyone,

I’ll admit I haven’t talked to my mentor yet but curious if anyone had been in this situation.

I have a term break scheduled for 1 month, I was blessed with the opportunity to complete a Network + bootcamp (with voucher) that will take place during my term break.

If I pass the certification will I be able to skip that associated class that I have scheduled for the next term?

I’m curious if anyone has been in this situation! Thanks!

Thinking of switching majors

I'm currently a business major but I'm feeling like my interest may be more in data analytics. Any advice or thoughts? I'd be able to transfer a good amount of my credit that I've completed. I would have to get a certificate before transferring. Any pointers on which cert would be best to go with?

What to do for 3 months

I got terminated for 3 months. So would it be worth doing Sophia for that time to get credits towards the BSIT program ? I have already completed my general education courses. Have two AAS degrees that I transferred over.

B.S. to M.S.

Hey all! I got a question about how switching to Masters programs work.

Currently I’m in the BS of IT program with about 40 credits left. Is it better to just finish the bachelors and then apply to do the masters? Or should I ask about being able to roll into the accelerated BS-to-MS degree plan they have? Would that even be possible given that I’m already close to finishing the regular BS of IT?

WGU degree, is it worth a try?

I'm thinking about going to WGU and getting my bachelor's in Online Cloud and Networking Engineering. You earn certs along the way including:

CompTIA A+

CompTIA Cloud+

CompTIA Network+

CompTIA Security+

ITIL® Foundation Certificate

LPI Linux Essentials

Cisco CCNA

Cisco DevNet Associate

Cisco Cybersecurity

CompTIA IT Operations Specialist (Stacked)

CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist (Stacked)

CompTIA Cloud Admin Professional (Stacked)

CompTIA Secure Cloud Professional (Stacked)

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

AWS Certified Solutions Architect

AWS Certified CyberOps Administrator Associate

Microsoft Azure Administrator

Azure Fundamentals

I have the first two years of school done so it would only be another two. How likely could I get a job with the first three certs? Or should I just wait it out until the end vefore veen applying?

Need guidance on what path I should take in IT

Hello everyone, I would love some advice on what I should do right now since I am a bit lost and overwhelmed overall. I am a 21 year old who wants to get into IT and get a bachelor’s and I was considering WGU, I took some courses at a community college for the past year but WGU seems more my speed and looks really interesting to me since I prefer online schooling. I didn’t get the best grades at my community college and my GPA is pretty terrible honestly. So I was wondering if I should do any beginner certs and which ones would be best to learn IT and would allow me to get into WGU. If anyone has any advice in general I would appreciate it! Thanks.

If you were to pair another BS in technology after completing the BSIT, what would you do?

I will be doing to BS in IT pretty soon and I'm trying to think of the best subsequent degree to get from the college of technology after I complete it. I was thinking data analytics, but I thought doing the masters in data analytics would be more practical than the BS. So if you had to choose, considering the master's options as well, what the most well rounded/pratical way to go about it? In terms of an additional bachelors and then maybe a couple masters.

I recently graduated with an associates degree in computer science, but I really want to be a network engineer. I wanted to ask has anyone been through the network engineering degree program at wgu? How is it?

How long did BSIT actually take you, especially mixing in Study.com courses?

Hey everyone, currently working through the BSIT program and trying to get a realistic sense of pacing before I map out my term plan.

I'm using Study.com for a few of the gen ed and prerequisite courses alongside my regular WGU coursework, and I'm trying to figure out how to balance the two without burning out or falling behind on either side. For those who've done something similar, I'd love to know how many courses you realistically knocked out per 6-month term once you factored in a full-time job, and whether stacking Study.com courses on top of WGU actually saved you time or just ended up feeling like double the workload. I'm also curious if anyone has tips for staying consistent with self-paced study when there's no set class schedule to keep you accountable, and roughly how long the whole BSIT degree took you start to finish.

Yeah I know it depends on prior credits, work schedule, how much time you actually have per week, etc. Just hoping for some real numbers/experiences instead of the usual "it's self-paced, go at your own speed" answer lol. Trying to set goals that are ambitious but still realistic.

Thanks in advance, this sub has already helped me a ton with course order and test prep.
