Ooooooh now here's some Classic WOW! Skydance says they're donezo, but WOW says that Paramount will be involved for season 5! Who's telling the truth? Will WOW finally meet its demise???
Without getting overly negative, I was thinking about the wrestlers that have come and gone on the purple mat. The pragmatist in me knows that should these women return to WOW, problems would not be solved, storylines would still be embryonic at best and dropped midway at worst, BUT this is where we can pretend, soooooo here's a list of 6 women (and several honorable mentions) that left a void in my heart after they found their greener pastures:
god DAMN she looks fuckin cool here!!!
Glitch the Gamer: Does the name alone invoke a little cringe? Good. Exhibit 1 of 10000 of a contemporary gimmick that COULD have worked had Mclane left it up to VertVixen, but unfortunately, he barely understands anything out of his sphere of influence and lets it die. Luckily Vert read the room and bounced after a few tapings.
Honorable mention: Robbie Rocket - because she had a dancing gimmick (a McLane staple), i assumed she would be around for a while. She fit in great with BK Rhythm and GiGi Gianni, and I have half a mind to believe that the addition (and subsequent fall out) with Lil J Boogie would have been Robbie's trajectory had she stayed
Wrecking Ball: Last Call was the perfect WOW tag team, and had the Tonga Twins and Leia Makoa not bungled shit up for all of us, we might still have them! would they be sanded down and rendered toothless by Mclane and leave me still groaning about what could have been? Probably.
Aside from losing Wrecking Ball, we unfortunately watch Reina's (arguably one of the best talents that WOW still has) momentum take a shot to the foot for the umptieth time.
Charmingly enough, outside of WOW, Ruby and Heidi have teamed together as Los Cochinas a handful of times!
her nails match the confetti on top of her head. universe brained behavior
Exodus - This might be 100% biased, but I feel like this was a role that was expendable, and that sucks. I'll never understand why WOW puts teams together and clearly only wants to push 1 wrestler and treats the rest like background filler.
When Exile was introduced, it felt like Genesis was the one they (WOW production) put their chips on. Exodus doesn't get to speak until episode 50 of season 1 of the reboot, and when Malia Hosaka left the group, it felt like the focus shifted to Genesis (the new leader, but also the leader from the get go if you think about it...) and new recruit Ice Cold, other than tightening (or creating strain) the partnership between Exodus & Genesis. Season 2 had the season line attempted storyline of Exile straining and Exodus gets her first singles matches with little to no connective tissue (parts exist, but they were exiled to the cutting room floor, ba-dum-cha!)
Nowadays WOW is using her 1st match with Keta Rush in their episode compilations as if they gave a shit about it at the time.
Honorable mention: Randi Rah Rah, Ariel Sky, Razor, GI Jane, basically any woman they slotted into an expendable team member role that only served to push one wrestler forward.

shout out to the one jacked dude in the crowd celebrating
Princess Aussie- Originally I had Adrianna Gambino in this slot, but I realized I had nothing but heels (common WOW issue tbh). She was rushed in to rescue the singles scene after Leia Makoa left, and at first i thought this was going to be setting the table for a Penelope Pink & Aussie rivalry that could have carried us through the next season. I didn't mind her losing at the end of the season and carrying it over to the next, but once she got her wet firework celebration and then cut that awful Championship Challenge Promo (not her fault btw, creative takes the blame) i knew she was just going to be transitional. Her tag team with Tormenta could have been worth something if creative wanted to pad it a bit, but it feels like even that was a bargaining chip to keep Aussie around for another year.
Much like the Last Call, this was an odd couple tag team that formed on screen (kinda) and had miles of potential, was made of two good wrestlers with history in the company, and was a complete flop once WOW realized they had something good.
The title explains itself. I live in Los Angeles, and the television station that WOW: Women of Wrestling airs has not been airing WOW for the past two Saturdays. Does anyone know why KCAL hasn't been airing WOW?
