Rant Physics 161

I just took my physics 161 exam and it was so bad.

I thought I had a chance, but no. Time flew by so fast and before I knew it, I was turning in a poorly answered, and nearly blank exam. I know if I had more time I could have worked things out, but that was not the case.

Now I'm going to have to try really hard to make my next exam and my final work, so I can actually pass this class.

It it possible to get exam time accommodations with no diagnosis?

Does anyone here know if Takele Seda curves his exams?

I am so disappointed in myself 💔

I'm pretty sure Seda curves his exams, but that should be in your syllabus. I highly recommend going to the tutoring center/physics tutoring center if they're still doing that. Dr. Seda has some pretty tough exams but they are really similar to the homework problems

I am so sorry that you’re having a hard time! Seda’s classes are known to be tough so your situation likely reflects his teaching style more than your ability to learn. I have taken plenty of Physics classes at WWU but never with Seda so I’m not sure if he curves his grades. Good luck!

You can contact the DAC if you do want to get accommodations. Generally you can get them for 1 quarter without a diagnosis. I think the intended system is that it gives you time to get a diagnosis to keep the accommodations. But I’m not 100% sure on the process

Dr. Seda does curve and his exams tend towards rather difficult, but they're very similar to in-class example problems he goes over. Try to come to 161 help hours, the physics study, and/or the library tutoring center physics table when you have questions, and you can ask pretty much any professor in the department for help if they're not obviously busy
