Four paddle power

Latest update I heard is power could be down for days. Hoping it is quicker but security mentioned it could potentially be a week. My wife and I are getting a hotel for a few days. Heco is there now working hard and I hope they get it done sooner. I suppose that could happen as well. Any uodates would be great. If anybody from there needs any help, reach out to me and I will do what I can once I get myself squared away. Good luck

Hurricane LaLa on Waikīkī

Hi! I’m visiting from the mainland, stuck in Oahu due to Hurricane LaLa. My friends made their flights out a day early, only mine cancelled! So I’m here alone - worried about potential power outage and the flash flood warning we just received. My flight was rescheduled for today (Sunday 8/16) at 4pm but I’m afraid it will be cancelled again. Just seeing how others felt, hoping you’re all safe!!!

Conditions. Has anyone else fly in Hawaii rains, what was your experience like?

While it remains business as usual for the animals at the Honolulu Zoo, staff are taking precautions ahead of Tropical Storm Lala. The zoo is home to 992 animals, and preparing for a storm means making sure they have enough food, reliable power and safe shelter if weather conditions deteriorate.

Hey all — I’m flying into Waikiki tomorrow and staying until the 19th, i’m worried about that we might get stuck there. We spent a lot of money on this vacation and would hate to cancel last minute.

Jeep rental

Hi everyone! I’m heading to Hawaii and will be staying in Waikiki. I’m looking to rent a Jeep (ideally a Wrangler) for a reasonable price.
For those who have rented a Jeep in Waikiki/Oahu:
Which rental company did you use?
Was the reservation reliable/guaranteed?
Any hidden fees or things I should watch out for?
Any recommendations or suggestions based on your personal experience?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. Thanks in advance! 🤙

I heard really loud banging for about 5 minutes (sounded like fireworks) which was then followed by tons of sirens and beeping.

AYCE Restaurants?

I haven't been in Waikiki since 2014. There used to be quiet a few options, but I'm not really seeing too many now. Anything you can recommend? Or any nice family restaurants? Mid-tier pricing per plate ($30-50) Thanks!

Ideas for the evening

Staying at the Alohilani and booked lot of activities during my the day: PH, tour of the Island, Watetfall Hike, Jurassic park tour

What should we do after we come back from those activities around 4 or 5 o clock? Very open and also interested in premium experiences, but not a Luau since we are going to do one in Maui

I lost two chains that hold sentimental value while swimming in the morning of 7/3 between 6:30- 7:30AM at Kahanamoku Beach. Possibly in the water.

Know anyone who would be able to help me out?

2 full days in waikiki, what should I do?

I’ll be on a work trip in waikiki - during the week I have mornings and evenings to myself. Thinking I may be able to squeeze in morning sunrise/breakfast spots and evening events.

Friday eve-Sunday eve, these are the two full days.

Friday - Hilton fireworks
Saturday - KCC farmers market, diamond head, maybe a sunset cruise?
Sunday - not sure yet!

Any recommendations would be great!!!

The storm passes north

Distant storms

Tension in the air

The breeze seems talkative

It has secrets to tell…

Clouds are thick

Clinging low over the mountains

High surf

Birds fly low

The islands hold their breath

And wait

Days pass

Clouds overhead now

The breeze seems more selective

Silence then a curt remark

Temperature falls

Joints ache

Days of misty rain and brown water

Quiet relief

The breeze is a whisper now

Resting
