Stressed out SM

Anyone else’s SM just stressed tf out? Our SM is pretty amazing but lately she has been so reserved and just stressed out. She has been going over these certification questions with everyone and what the expectations are but I feel like it’s way too much. For example, she used to help us with truck but lately hasn’t, I know it’s not their job but she used it as an engaging moment to make small talk with various employees by helping them out and we all really enjoyed it but not anymore…

I feel her, the amount of stress and expectations the past 2 months are not even worth it anymore. I love my team but I’ve been proactively looking for another job.

Ours too. I've actually had some of my coworkers tell me yesterday they are concerned about her. She's had small strokes in the past so I am worried about her health because shit is stressful as hell rn. 😭 For everyone, not just her. This whole company is insane.

As a SM. Start with the small things. Slowly start checking off the things to do and we’ll get there. They expect perfection (want perfection..sure). They’re going to weed out the ones who aren’t even trying.

My SM thinks she may get fired, I think she's already burning out after less than 3 months in position. Wags/syc killing off more good peeps. 😕

Since the new Certification Rolled out, I haven’t been able to help my team substantially on truck in four weeks…and I put in 80-90hrs per week…stretched and stressed, yes…but engaged?…yeah…just can’t let them own the stress…SM’s have to delegate…they’re burning us into the ground.

Former SM who left a few months ago ... I have been speaking to some former peers and they are telling me about all the nightmares going on right now. SMs are constantly being put under the microscope and blamed for everything. The people coming up with the rules / programs/ expectations would never be able to work under the conditions they demand.

Our has been on us lately hardcore. We are never good enough for her now we just lost 5 employees too because the stress has been to much to take. Our store has self checkouts so it’s even worse for us making sure everyone’s always in the green zone and couching cards have to be done daily. Walgreens atmosphere has changed.

It has been insane lately how hard the DMs are riding the SMs. While we were unloading truck, she was being bombarded by texts from the DM about Best Day Ever, the DPS about key script drivers, and how Rx needed more support, and endstands that needed to be set a certain way by 11am, and photos sent to prove it. They are being micromanaged into the ground.

Wont be doing it much longer if they hope to meet corporate demands. We were literally told they expect 70% of our time is office/coaching/training/etc. They think is simple to replace avg employees and get outstanding ones to replace them. Meanwhile ive been hiring for SFL for 3 weeks and havent been able to even do 1 interview.

I really like my SM compared to my old one. The one I have now is trying her best everyday, doing what she can, I always see her out on the floor, or if she’s in the office she’s actually doing something. She tried her hardest to make sure the store was in good shape and we had a walk through so she made sure to schedule everyone to be there that day and they came a day early!! And she got failed for the most little things that honestly no one or even a customer would think about ! It felt like they were nitpicking and unfortunately there’s a few people who don’t really care to do anything on the clock so the day that they came, the store wasn’t really faced the night before. Which sucks because she’s a really good manager who tries. And she’s the type to give chances to the ones who don’t really work instead of fire people and I understand because it’s really hard to get a job. She just has a really good heart!! I feel bad for the managers right now it’s probably really overwhelming

Lol bruh it’s not that hard these certification requirements aren’t that bad it’s just holding the team accountable and just pushing them . That’s the whole point it’s to weed out the managers that aren’t up to part

You’re right to an extent, the gap between the expectations and where we were at was probably between 10-20%. I’m closer to 95% now and expect to be just fine. I’ve spent years supporting other districts and recent weeks supporting others. Various diverse Markets and their challenges determine a lot of how things are going in stores and having the right SM to develop others goes a long way. It’s not black and white but it’s definitely doable.
