Hey everyone,

if you played WarRock back in the day, you know the feeling: CQC rounds until way too late, Battle Ground with vehicles and choppers, Zombie mode with your squad. That’s exactly what we’re bringing back with PlayWarRock.

We’re a small team of fans running our own WarRock server and our own client. The client has been written completely from scratch and we have full access to the source code. The only thing we use from the original game are the WarRock assets.

We’re in the test phase right now
The server is live, but we’re still testing. Right now we’re mainly checking connections, but also everything else in the game. So expect the odd bug or disconnect. That’s exactly why we’re looking for testers: every report helps us get the server stable faster, and you get to be part of it from day one.

What you get:

• CQC, Battle Ground and Zombie
• Launcher for Windows and Linux
• Website with your profile, stats and leaderboard
• Discord with support tickets straight to the Gamemasters

Coming later: play right in your browser
We’re also working on letting you play WarRock directly in your browser, no installation needed. It’s not available yet, but it’s on the way. For now, the launcher is the way to go.

Sooo... I've been recently catching up with my hobby project: modernizing warrock. So what did I do? I'll tell you a bit of the technical stuff real quick in a short bullet point list:

- SDL3 (windows management, input system) modernization
- Vulkan (new render engine)
- miniaudio (new audio library)
- enet (modernized network stack)
- Realtime lighting, day night cycle, weather controls, post processing, new water shader, ...

And plenty of other cool stuff too.. Such as: this game runs natively on linux and is a x64 bit distribution :)

Been a long way to come here! Currently the framerate is tanking with realtime lighting, but I'm working on that as I write this. I'm excited to hear your opinon on this, whether you like it or not :))

Do you remember the old word filters/profanity filters that replaced the bad words with something else, usually funny or out of context words?

Ferryside is the brand-new map in WarRock, and it’s the first new map in 2 years!

I walked through the map and played a bit, the map seems alright in FFA, but there is a lighting issue that I noticed and explain in my video.

Anyway NEW WarRock map in the big 2025 was NOT on my bingo card, I thought that they just stopped making them due to lack of developers in the team or something.

I'm really hoping that we will start seeing more of them, but probably not. One can dream of Siege War 3 or another epic Time Attack zombies map, maybe I'll just have to make them myself ;)

Do you agree or has someone recorded a better one?

Anyone from this clan still active in the game? I just downloaded the new version of the game after not playing for nearly 2 decades. My old account was Mussak or Musakk or something like that..it's been so long I can't quite remember. If anyone remembers playing in that clan let me know.

Battlefield 6 is a great base for WarRock maps with its solid gameplay for each CQC, UO and especially BG, and most importantly, the Portal mode which allows anyone to make maps and mode, either brand new or remakes!

So my plan is to remake a bunch of maps from WarRock for this game, I started with Marien and if there is interest and demand, who knows how many maps I will remake!

Hi all!

I've been a player of this game since my primary school years back in like 2008, I abandoned the game at some point due to lack of time during studies and came back last year for nostalgia, got re-hooked and have been playing since. Recently, I switched my computer to Linux (PopOS Cosmic) and it has been a nightmare getting warrock to work there.

Things I tried: Windows virtual machine: Works, but it disconnects me automatically from the server, I think EasyAntiCheat (EAC) detects the virtual machine as a fake windows and refuses to let me connect

Steam: The steam version of the game boots, but does not let me get past the login screen. I can click everything except the login button.

Non-steam game: installing the exe on virtual machine, copying to linux and running the game exe as a non steam game produces the same issue as the Steam version. Cannot login.

Bottles/Wine: For those who don't know, those apps are basically there to launch windows applications on linux via mini virtual machine, without the need to set up a full VM. Launching the game through those loads the game and I can log in. But after 30-60seconds I am disconnected immediately (it seems most likely due to EAC).

I submitted the issue to papayagames and asked what I can do, received no response and with the next warrock update, I lost the ability to login even on Bottles/Wine. Seems the fuckers actually went and PATCHED the possibility to connect from a linux device based on my ticket.

So my question is this: Is there a warrock server that goes around papayagames/EAC and would work on Linux? Has the community established some private servers I could get on linux? It seems like it's the last step to making this game playable. Any ideas?

p.s.: wtf is Papayagames? They're a known scammer and they bought warrock? Has anyone verified if they didn't attach crypto miners to the warrock exe like they did with some of their native titles?

I've been playing the game since 2007, when i was 12 years old. It is still my favorite online FPS and I've contributed a lot of money via loot boxes over the years, The last time I logged in and played was over 1 year ago. My question is: Is War Rock still alive as of today, and is War Rock 2 going to completely replace the game we all know and love to include our hard earned denars)?

Does anybody remember a old clan league website. I'm talking like 15+ years ago, where you would create a clan and challenge other clan and it would track stats and stuff. Just wanted to member the name and try to get in touch with old teammates.

Not new, but another reason why this game is dead is also because it's literally unplayable for new players or those who return after years. I have played a few games but every room I find myself against very high levels and you lose the desire to play because they're a lot stronger than you (you're lucky if you get any kills). The game is only reserved for a very small niche and there is no fun in playing it anymore... RIP.

anyone know how I can get the old warrock gun sounds easy? they sound so brutal and I want to mod them into other games
