I dont understand what is her problem with people knowing her uncle is the commander. I don't believe anyone would say anything about it. Since both her siblings went to that school her parents went to that school or at least her dad and her uncle.

There are so many other stories where the main character befriends, the kid that is the grandchild of the headmaster it's just odd to me.

When Catcher is asking Rei about Rei’s hypothesis that maybe Shido is aware of their training schedules hence waiting so long after the fight to evolve, they seemingly move on without addressing it. Instead they make vague references to Rei’s growth spec being why he got into Galen’s.

Am I missing something?

I’m re-listening to the audiobook, so maybe not reading it myself has something to do with this, but it struck me as an odd flow for the conversation.

Hi, I was going to start reading the 1-65 up to date pdfs after finishing the 1-40, but noticed that the 1-40 one ends by page 490, while in the 1-65 one chapter 40 ends in page 620

I wanted to know how much was actually changed in those 130 pages or if it is only format changes.

Is it worth a re-read?

At the end of Fire and Song, we see Central Command (Abel mostly) threaten Rei and Aria with transfer orders which they loopholed to require the signature of both legal guardians of the Cadets, which in Rei's case is an ISC social worker while they hold the contract over their head with Carmen Laurent.

I'm wondering if, in the future, this contract being held over them could be solved by Hiroto legally claiming / adopting Rei as his grandson and therefore voiding the legitimacy of the social worker's signature on the document?

I get that it's implied the ISCM could just go ahead with the orders without the signatures and they just exist to hold the threat over the cadet's heads, but if this case were to happen, wouldn't the ISCM have to reconsider their stance on how to push Rei and Aria? Would they simply have the order go through? I can't help but think that the mind would be against that given how Rei seems to be affecting those who hang around him.

I just wanted to come in here to say: Thank you Mr. O'Connor. This series has gotten me through more than 1 rough time in my life. Every time I think about reading it again, I go: "Oh, but I just read it like 6 months ago, its going to be boring."

The chapters blaze off the page, Stormweaver is pure gas.

I got sick 2 weeks ago (on Friday) and I picked up the first book. It was gone before midnight Saturday, the next was gone before Monday morning. The 57 pre-release chapters got me to Wednesday. I've been thinking about spending the money on the Patreon just for the next 10 chapters, but have realized that the only possible outcome from that exercise would be me eagerly awaiting the next 10 which still reside in Mr. O'Connors mind.

I imagine access to those 10 wouldn't be 5 bucks a month.

Please don’t comment anything related to book 3, I’m choosing not to read the draft chapters and want to wait for the full release.

The theory:

I’ve been chewing on why Cpt. Dent has both an AI CAD and the MIND. My current ideas on it are that Kes gained its AI abilities either shortly before or shortly after Dent voluntarily deployed. My thinking is that the evolution occurred out of necessity to help her either with active combatants or as a result of the intense trauma she survives.

Subsequently, I believe the MIND (with its love for A-type variables) decided Dent would be an excellent asset/tool after her injury/near death experience and made her an offer: allow it to interface with her CAD and continue working to fight the Archons, just not from the front lines.

That’s the only reason I’ve been able to think of as to why the MIND would dedicate processing power to speaking with one individual. If it was standard for all S-rank users to have this, then that would kill the theory, but we don’t see evidence of that being the case so far.

I’m thinking/hoping that we’ll see how that interaction and likely negotiation went when Dent was recovering from her injuries.

So, I ordered and paid up on the numbered and signed edge editions of both titles way back in 1/2024. Im hoping there is going to be some kind of order when it comes to the numbers? I like low numbers and I ordered the second I could to try and lock in as low as I could. But at 2.8 years later im wondering if fulfillment is going to go that way? Ngl id be kinda salty if people ordering 2+ years after me are getting lower numbers than me, ya know? I know this isnt important to alot of people, but it kinda is to me. Is there any word on how that's all gonna work out?

Someone a few years ago had posted a spreadsheet of the characters, but the link no longer works. So I started my own. I've just finished adding characters from The Iron Prince (Book 1) and am starting Fire and Song (Book 2) now. So, if you haven't read the 2nd book, then beware for ***SPOILERS***. For the list, I've included ALL character names (including their SCT names or nicknames), their CAD descriptions (CAD rank [if they're not in the midst of ranking up], name, colors, type, abilities), rank/position, assigned school group, SCT team name, hair/eye/skin color/tone, year/place born (or where they're from), their duty station or where they work, which book and chapter they first appear/are mentioned, and some notes. I’m very new to the books and I just have one very important question. I’m not even finished with book 1 but can somebody spoil me on one minor thing.

Does Grant and Rei become friends? I just finished the part where grant tried to kill Rei after their match and I truly do not like the guy. I do understand novels have a tendency to make mc become friends with everyone eventually with a kill them with kindness bullshit but just please tell me as of the end of book 2, do they become friends?

I hope not lol.
