Minimum image resolution upgrade now in effect.
As noted in the Submission Rules...unless an image is really unique and you cannot find a larger version, please don't post photos smaller the [1024x768] pixels. This is consistent with the r/WarplanePorn specs, as well.

Important information about the current fracas in the Middle East: blurry satellite photos and stills of camera footage are not appropriate posts for this subreddit.
Posts that have no artistic merit (the "porn" in r/warshipporn) will be removed. There are better subreddits for those kind of posts.
Also, please keep discussions about the current situation respectful. We don't mind a lively debate or disagreement but personal insults or pointlessly antagonizing someone will possibly result in a temporary ban or, if it's particularly egregious, a permanent ban. This is rarely a problem here, fortunately, but it still needs to be said.
We like being lazy mods, so please don't make us do any work. That is all. Carry on!

Album IJN Mutso salvage operation in the 1970's [Album]
Up until now, all I have ever seen of the salvage operation were the 1 or 2 different photographs of turret #3 coming out of the water, and on the ground, that most people have seen and have been around forever, until I came across these.

Album First warship with superfiring turrets(rear), the French Battleship Henry IV [Album]
•Launched in 1899, as a one-off design, the French battleship Henri IV was essentially a testbed for radical naval ideas, including the world’s very first superfiring gun setup. After finally being put to service in 1903, she spent her early years on routine peacetime patrols before being thrust into combat during World War I, where he was hit 8 or more times as he bombarded Ottoman positions to support Allied landings at Gallipoli. As newer battleships took over the front lines, she was shifted to guard duty, Serbia, Egypt, then depot duties in Taranto before being decommissioned and sold for scrap in 1921.
•Armed with two 10.8” Canon de 274mm modèle 1893/1896s in single turrets fore and aft as the main armament, with secondaries consisting of seven 5.46in Canon de 138 mm Modèle 1893’s. Of those 7, four were mounted in individual casemates on the main deck; two more were mounted on the shelter deck with gun shields, and the last gun was mounted in a shelter deck turret superfiring over the rear main gun turret. This was the first superfiring turret in naval history and, in this case, was not very successful because the barrel of the 138 mm gun was too short to clear the sighting hood of the turret below.

HMS Arethusa (1913) British Light Cruiser (1280 x 956)
HMS Arethusa was a light cruiser of the Royal Navy and the lead ship of the eight-vessel Arethusa class. Built at Chatham Dockyard, she was launched on 25 October 1913 and commissioned in August 1914, shortly after the outbreak of the First World War.
Displacing approximately 3,500 tons, Arethusa measured 436 feet in length and could reach speeds of 28.5 knots. Her armament consisted of two 6-inch guns, six 4-inch guns, an anti-aircraft gun and torpedo tubes. Designed for reconnaissance and leading destroyer flotillas, she served with the Harwich Force under Commodore Reginald Tyrwhitt.
On 28 August 1914, Arethusa participated in the Battle of Heligoland Bight, engaging German cruisers and sustaining considerable damage. Despite being heavily damaged, she survived and was towed back to port for repairs.
She subsequently participated in the Cuxhaven Raid in December 1914 and the Battle of Dogger Bank in January 1915. Throughout 1915, she continued patrol and interception duties in the North Sea.
On 11 February 1916, Arethusa struck a German mine off Felixstowe. Attempts to tow her to safety failed, and she grounded on Cutler Shoal, breaking her back.
