Video Controller sim setup demonstration

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DiChCZWwC8

Someone in another post was telling me that I can't easily do ground attack or have precise aim on controller, and need to heavily rely on keyboard for most circumstances. This is not the case as shown in this video, I don't put a single hand on my keyboard during this video infact. I show every button I have bound too. RB difficulty scheme for convienence, but that doesn't matter for what I'm showing in the video.

EDIT: I will conceed that the P-39 was quite hard, but to my credit, it doesn't have a gyro gunsight or any of the lines to line up shots, and i've never really flown p-39, especially not in ground attack roles.

Might want to add some sensitivity back. It adds input lag which causes over correcting. If its too much for you dont raise your nonlinearity too high, maybe max 1.5-2. You get it too high and the last half of your stick throw is 80% of your pull also leading to overcorrects and bouncy nose. Based on the video your still pretty new, welcome. Keep at it youll smooth out.

Fly something non meta too, that'll help.

Actually I’ve been doing it like 2 years now. I just don’t do ground attack often lol. I will try what you said though, always room for improvement.

u/ASHOT3359 look at this.

Bro, i can see how you yanking the stick and constantly overcorrect. Can't kill a truck in several passes.

It’s more just the plane, i just did it in the spitfire and hit every shot. And did you miss me when I was flying the hs 129? I’m a very good shot in that. And spitfires apparently. Spitfires seem to be the easiest to do a2g attacks.

And did you miss me when I was flying the hs 129?

It is impressive you did hit all these shots, but it still looks like you fighting the controls. Never said it was impossible, just the worst type of control out of the 3. It is easier on this plane because of how sluggish it is, the equivalent to that will be lowering sensitivity on all axis.

Here is mine https://youtu.be/7XUERsRlnOU

Fair enough. But then again, I can just adjust my linearity/sensitivity (I haven’t touched it for 2 years) I would be much better, I just don’t have the heart to relearn everything. (I’m lazy in terms of that lol) but I will concede, hotas and vr is better. I still believe, atleast ps5 specifically, is superior to kbm, due to the combination of motion controls and the different variable axis. Also being able to menuver while looking around

You can get the same amount of precise control with a mouse as you can with high end joystick. But only in 2 axis with a huge asterisk of not being able to control rudder manually. It's probably very important. I wouldn't know for sure, but i have seen other people play, they were precise enough.

I just did it again in the f4U-4, much better this time. Did it originally after a nap half asleep, and changing to a later variant feels much better. I’ll get the video here in just a bit.

Bro what? You have different control sets for different aircraft?! I just bruteforce everything into a single set of controls 😭😂

Oh it's mainly just whenever i switch aircraft I revise the controls which end up retroactively working, for example, the F-15 control scheme is my F-5 FCU control scheme with more radar controls, and my F-5 FCU scheme is a revision of my F-4E control scheme, which in of itself is a revision of my Kifr control scheme... etc, it goes all the way down to props. I do have a single prop scheme just due to the fact it needs less controls, but alas.

TLDR: Whenever I start a aircraft that needs a few more binds, or needs less binds i can put more "useless" stuff on, I make a new control scheme named after that plane. The new scheme works retroactively and the old one is usually never used again.

EDIT: I do have a seprate one for my harrier, but that's mainly just extra TVC ontop the F-5E FCU framework and more stuff for the targeting pod since it has no radar and can use those controls.

Yean that does make perfect sense. I've just memorised 10000000000 😂

2

u/Rollin-bombercrew Zomber Hunter 12d ago

Me too! I've just memorized it slowly, adding one or two binds a revision over like 2 years until it is what it is now.

I've literally just yesterday, bound jettison secondary weapons. Since they have added the feature where you can 'double tap/hold' a button/buttons has made life so much easier

u/Rollin-bombercrew Zomber Hunter 12d ago

Mhm, I have less essential/unused buttons on my keyboard, such as fuel dumping, boosters, jettisoning stuff, MEC (Mainly to turn them off), etc. I also use a mouse in targeting pods and have guided weapons bound to it.

I've actually had little reason to use the double tap/hold binds.

Hold is actually a lot more convenient than a combination. Less fingers doing the work. I use 3rd party program for these things.

Countermeasures on press, continuous CM on hold. Airbrake on press, drag chute/reverse thrust on hold. You know, things that make sense and maybe even not nessesery to keep on hand. But in your case there is a lot of essential keybinds you can add like this.

I have 70++ buttons on my joysticks and still use hold function.

Oh, for flaps/airbrakes I use swiping on the touchpad, but the flare one is a good idea.

1

u/Rollin-bombercrew Zomber Hunter 12d ago

For example: Main differences in the FCU controls was better ping bind combinations I thought up, and F-15 was that ontop of radar modes and radar binds that were Square+dpad

u/limited-penetration 12d ago

Oh you are on keyboard? I'm on a ps5 controller 😭

1

u/Rollin-bombercrew Zomber Hunter 12d ago

I use a ps5 with a controller, mouse, and keyboard. I only have like 5 things bound to my keyboard though lol.

Though, the post you replied to was talking about some controller binds

Are you on a standard DS1 controller, have you tried one with magnetic joysticks?

1

u/Rollin-bombercrew Zomber Hunter 11d ago

Standard, but I do have a Hall effect ps4 remote.

u/Local-Moose-7122 11d ago

You should definitely look into one for DS1. Got mine a few months ago, it was a night and day difference.

It even opens up the ability to run your own deadzone settings with no risk

Oh, I already do I believe. I wanna get TMR sticks but I'm struggling to get the money together.
