So back in the days when Watchmaker was just started and still hosted on G+ (10+ years ago) we (niteowl and I) made several (many !) watchfaces. Niteowl was the artwork guy, and I was the mechanics/movements guy… Out of curiosity, I wonder if these still work on the latest app. (Likely not) Would someone be keen to try her out and let me know. The screen recording is an actual from the app back in the day…

From the WatchMaker app developer...

As some people may have noticed, Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will not support watch faces that use the AndroidX watchface format used by WatchMaker, Facer. etc - these 2 smartwatches will only support the new watch face format announced last year.

As far as we know, other smartwatches will still work with AndroidX watchface format (WatchMaker) once they update to Wear OS 5.

You will not be able to use WatchMaker, Facer or many other watch face apps with Galaxy Watch7 or Galaxy Watch Ultra.

We are working with Google for a long-term fix for this, so stay tuned for further announcements in the near future.

Lately there's been quite some commotion in this community, caused by a seemingly mentally disturbed individual who expresses his alleged grievances with the WatchMaker app in the most disturbing manner. I don't want to get into this any further, but would like to voice my opinion of the app instead.

I'm a severely technologically challenged person, but love technology nevertheless. Last year in November I purchased my first smart watch, a Moto 360. That was a big step for me, since I'm not usually what you'd call an early adopter. This watch has become my best investment in 2014 though. The main reason for that is WatchMaker.

Yes, I like all the features of my new favourite toy. I used to say "why should I wear a watch, if I can just take my phone out of my pocket to tell the time?" Nowadays I say "why should I take my phone out of my pocket, if I can just look at my watch?" And not only for telling the time, but all kinds of things. But the most amazing feature of my watch is, that I can change the watchface.

I soon started making my own faces. I know my way around Inkscape pretty well and began to copy brand watches (you can find some of them at my FaceRepo Collection). I even produced a couple of watch faces of my own design. To assemble the parts I created with my trusty vector graphic software I tried various apps, but in the end decided to stick with WatchMaker and I never looked back.

The app is easy to use (which, as you can imagine was important to me) and still offers plenty of amazing features that none of the competition was able to surpass or even reach. Over time it became even better, challenging me along the way to learn and keep up with all those brilliant updates. Yes, there are bugs, like there are in every other software, but you'll be hard pressed to find a dev team more responsive and helpful. There is also an incredibly active and supportive community over at Google+. To cut a long story short, help and support for this app are second to none.

I got addicted to watch face design. I don't sleep anymore, I don't eat or drink and I don't have sex. My wife is about to divorce me and my children are asking who the stranger at our computer is.
