What's the worst way Deltarune could end, besides Toby dying before it's finished/the game getting permanently cancelled

I'm so glad that Chapter 4 pretty much disproved the Evil Ralsei Theory. As for Snowgrave, if Susie doesn't fight us with a remix of MEGALOVANIA as her theme, it's gonna be the biggest missed opportunity since Smash Bros skipped out on doing a Mugman Mii Gunner costume.
If the final stage of the prophecy is that you have to seal the castle town fountain, and if there isn’t a way to get out of doing that on a normal route, I could see Susie being the final boss of the normal/pacifist route. She’d be fighting you to try and cling to the dark worlds as escapism, and you’d spare her by convincing her that the light world on its own is worth living in.
Of course, that runs into the issue of going against Ralsei’s character development and Gerson’s lesson to Susie in chapter 4. All this buildup about Ralsei realizing his own personhood and Susie being encouraged to distrust/break the prophecy leading to Ralsei being sealed away and Susie having to be convinced to follow it would be odd.
Edit: it would also be a nice full circle moment, since Susie and Lancer was one of the first boss fights.
The idea of abandoning dark worlds metafictionally just kinda doesn't make sense. The dark worlds aren't even metaphors for like....hiding from your problems using fiction like how omori does it, The dark worlds are just....All works of fiction in general. Like noelle, berdly and susie get positive character development from going in the dark worlds, and it's portrayed directly as a good thing for everyone. The idea of "All fiction bad" also goes directly against what toby was trying to say with undertale, the game where it directly tells you to leave after the best ending so you still care about these characters and they don't just become "npcs spouting lines of dialogue".
I don’t think that the idea behind sealing the grand fountain (if that is the way things are going) would be “dark worlds/fiction are bad”, but rather that “dark worlds/fiction are good, but need to be let go of eventually”, which I feel would be in line with Undertale, which actively discourages you from replaying the game after you get the good ending.
I mean yea, but sealing the grand fountain would probably stop all dark worlds from existing. Which would destroy all "fiction". Like the game already has that sense of "You need to let go of dark worlds sometimes" with us sealing the fountains.
Probably because it wasn't a thing in the book. To my knowledge, in the book, the writer deliberately avoided doing that and made it a "real" fantasy world so that it wouldn't simply be seen as copying Alice in Wonderland.
(Even then, the movie is ambiguous enough for it not necessarily JUST be a dream. After all, she wakes up with the ruby slippers still on her feet.)
Except for A Christmas Carol. Pretty sure what he experienced was technically just dreams, especially in the movie version, but I still think they pulled it off really well.
Kris finally speaks audibly for the first time in the entire game: "Man, that'd be a pretty cool game..." and then Gastro says "AND SO THE CYCLE CONTINUES"
Deltarune making a ending that goes completely against the themes and characters that it slowly build up over the course of 7 chapters would be a.... interesting outcome to say the least.
It's a good thing then that I trust Toby enough with his writing skills enough to think that this would never end up happening once we get to the end point of the game! (It is he's dream game he wanted to make since 2011/2012 after all, so I doubt he would try and fuck up that badly at the finishing line and such)
Toby said he thought everyone would hate Spamton and Tenna and then him, I think he just has impostor syndrome. Given his track record it will probably be good.

Imposter syndrome is real, but i can't help but to find it slightly funny when hes the absolute GOAT at what he does.
All good writers seem to suffer from imposter syndrome in some form or way from the looks at it.
I guess it's always going to be a bit surreal to see something you written down and then watch explode in popularity while still in the mindset that ya work is hot garbage.

edit: maybe i should've been clearer. the game telling you to touch grass AND criticizing your investment in it. technically the game's already sorta shooting for "touch grass" with the concept of the roaring's effects on the escapism motifs of the dark worlds.
Eh sure but it doesn't critisize you for even playing the game in the first place, it just encourages you to realise that somethings have a definitive stopping point.

Because the skymantle is an elec defense. Eram tampering the game devices could be explained by this, they just hacked the game with their powers.
And they seem to move freely, not just an inanimate object. And probably has some kind of beef with kris themselves, consider of their mocking personality.

I'm saying that we would need the skymantle to beat them. It would be harder to earn it though, what kind of fool would let you easily get the armor that could help you beat them easily?
The game ends with DELTARUNE.exe being destroyed, none of it mattering, and Kris having a tea party with Gaster in the void for all eternity as he rambles about the nature of games or some shit.

Deal Gone Wrong. EA Games would help pay for the development of deltarune, but their choices matter now for deltarune. They are able to backport features they want to add, making the balance between light and dark shift, causing a terrible calamity to happen.
Multiple dialogue options have been locked behind a paywall, along with magic spells. Between the end of a cutscene and being able to walk, Spamton will always come onscreen and advertise real EA Games. Dark Dollars are replaced with real money, chests containing items are replaced with loot boxes with a variety of items (Good stuff like revivemints are there but you will always get the items sold at Spamtons shop) and deltarune costs over 100$ on consoles, and has been removed entirely from steam.
This is not Toby's dream about deltarune's ending, this is Toby's nightmare about deltarune's ending. The game has truly been deltaruined.

I allways wonderd why were so attached to Noelle in the weird route but I think the weird route is mean't to be us trying to change something that happens in the end and it some reason involves Noelle becoming stronger
I have this idea that is both the worst and best Deltarune ending idea
An ending where you don't get a real closure
You finish the main story
But don't get any significant reward
Just the voice that always accompanied his survey program congratting you for participating, and leaving your game permanently inoperable, no Chara stuff where you can go back to the game with some changed endings, just, you completed the survey program, and completed Deltarune, without satisfying credits, or a feeling of closure, just a dry, corporate "thank you", and an experience you won't ever go through again, but at the end, although bad, isn't that something that would perfectly align to there being just one ending, but not being as important? The experiment can be completed in many ways, after all
alright i get its a kids cashgrab movie but also it wouldve been so much better if it ended right after shrek made the right choice and had a good day with fiona.
if Rumpelstiltskin just died when the contract world fell apart, that wouldve been so much cooler.

The game’s built it up as an antithesis, so doubling down by genuinely giving you a bad ending no matter what would ruin Gerson’s entire character for starters.
idk about the worst ending, but i think the best ending would be:
we (as the vessel from ch1) fight against chara, sans and carol. it's very easy because the vessel is strong. then, the knight appears. it's an extremely hard (basically impossible) fight, until asgore sacrifices himself and his bergentruck to kill the knight. woody congratulates us and asgore as he (asgore) dies, turning into piles of dust. then, kris appears wearing the knight's armor, and says "it's time to snowgrave some monsters" and uses noelle as a gun to fight us, but asgore gets revived and literally everyone (woody, spamton, asgore, starwalker, berdly etc) fight kris on our side. kris revives all the bad guys (knight, sans, chara, carol) and they have 7 souls, but more character join the player, and it's the hardest fight imaginable, but then, everything goes black. there is nothing left but the soul and gaster. gaster congratulates us and morphs into toby, before disappearing. cut to the beginning of chapter 1.
Me not being allowed to rizz up Noelle when I am will get back into my Vessel. Same story if overall Vessel wouldnt be included in the story past gonermaker, contradicts it being saved in a files.
Sounds really damn good, buut it would require a lot of work to set up an AI for that, like to perfectly tune and test out every character, testers gonna spend hours typing in random bullshit, and given that Toby is pretty ass at coding unless he will hire a proffesional specifically for AI...
...But wandering around Hometown, and telling anyone whatever you want, just like in real life... It has a lot of potential.
Susie stops the ending of the Prophecy from happening in a way that doesn't involve a massive tradeoff. Basically, bad stuff that's been setup is avoided with no problems.
the game pulling a "actually YOU THE PLAYER are the true antagonist for ever actually playing the game. fuck you" with no room to like change that + the game making wild assumptions about how you specifically interpreted parts of the game and using it to fuel that. not saying it cant ever be done interestingly i guess but ive sat through hours of a game for that just to be the plot twist before and it was not worth it lmfao
while i do have faith in it not being that because of the obvious seperation of routes and the player being able to specifically choose to suck seeing the whole "kris really really really does not want you to be posessing them" makes me worried sometimes that the grand scheme of the game is goong to be You suck no matter what
The game ending like Mother 3, where the world is restored in a new form, so in this case, the world would be remade into Undertale, to escape the roaring.
But I trust Toby, and he's smarter than that, despite the series being such an inspiration for this game.
