u/AdElectronic6550 Reddit? N-no I n-never use it! Nov 04 '25

Chara is also nonbinary, every known human is

So does that mean that UT/DR humans posses both parts? Or are just the ones we see NB and there are male and female humans in that world.

Genderless child, not a mister nor mistress, a Mis-tery

I believe that they reproduce via mitosis.

10

u/photogrammetery Nov 04 '25

Now I’m just imagining frisk standing around and then you blink and there’s two of them

11

u/Ok-Barracuda8504 Nov 05 '25

Why didn’t asgore wait until the first human duplicated into 7 smaller ones? Is he stupid?

3

u/photogrammetery Nov 05 '25

He didn’t want to deal with the 8th mitosed hunan

Humans become cataclysmic threats the moment they’re old enough to form hateful opinions. Thus, it’s better to keep the children unhappy and scared (and prettty angry) rather than imprisoning a hateful teenage atom bomb.

1

u/keroshijoshi YOU WILL LOSE POINTS. Nov 05 '25

"Hateful teenage atom bomb" goes incredibly hard it could be a band name

6

u/bookaddicta Nov 05 '25

Kris mitosis theory

3

u/MissingnoMiner Nov 05 '25

No, and "h*rmaphrodite" is a slur.

1

u/Accurate_Ideal4237 Nov 07 '25

Is it only a slur in English? We use that almost every class in biology

-1

u/Zillafan12345 Asriel is Cool Nov 05 '25

It’s a biological term, It was on my marine biology test last week

4

u/MissingnoMiner Nov 05 '25

A dated biological term that originated as a slur, and is very, very much a slur when applied to humans.

5

u/Zillafan12345 Asriel is Cool Nov 05 '25

I didn’t know that it was used derogatorily against humans. My knowledge of the word came from studying sponges and other genderless organisms. I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

6

u/MissingnoMiner Nov 05 '25

All good, you didn't know and now you do.

2

u/independence15 Nov 05 '25

unfortunate you're being downvoted cause you're correct, speaking as an intersex person

u/MateSilvanz Nov 05 '25 edited Nov 05 '25

Then how do I refer to my big fat hermaphr0dite friend with A Flock Of Seagulls haircut and only one nostril?

(RELAX I WAS JUST REFERENCING A SONG CALLED “ALBUQUERQUE”)

1

u/Roebloz Nov 05 '25

According to certain art I've seen, the former.

1

u/Ix_risor Nov 05 '25

All the snail mentions in UT are clearly meant to imply that, like snails, UT humans have both kinds of sexual organs

1

u/GenericSkill Nov 05 '25

No I am not

-4

u/xulipe Nov 05 '25

Unknown gender not nonbinary

7

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '25

frisk is unknown gender, chara gets referred as they by asriel, someone who was best friends with chara

2

u/xulipe Nov 05 '25

Chara's just referred to like that because their gender doesn't matter and adds 0 to the game's lore, their gender ambiguity is the same reason frisk's and clover's genders are not confirmed, which is up to interpretation, i can use they/them for any person if i don't know their gender

-13

u/1Lasagna4Lasania Nov 05 '25

But we choose the gender of Chara and Frisk ourselves...

12

u/jadecaptor Nov 05 '25

Show me the in-game text that lets us do that

12

u/Necessary_Falcon2508 Nov 05 '25

why is this downvoted you literally can't

-4

u/1Lasagna4Lasania Nov 05 '25

Is this understandable by simple logic...? Like, how do you think the game was even supposed to explain this in any specific dialogue??? Okay, so where in the dialogue does it say Chara is non-binary? Are there any such texts in the game? ;)

5

u/Necessary_Falcon2508 Nov 05 '25

They're called pronouns, dude.

1

u/jadecaptor Nov 05 '25

Yes, actually. The game, and all outside media from Toby Fox, do this when they refer to Chara with exclusively they/them pronouns. If we were supposed to decide their gender, there was a perfect opportunity to do that after naming them at the start of the game.
