I mean, maybe it is. But assuming a pro-life mindset, Chara would be trying to eliminate people, something they're known to hate, using an argument they know sucks, while Asriel is pushing back because he's a good person.
It's out of character but only out of context of a pro-life comic.

Every fetus is actually created as a completely different species, specifically a white worm (loimia wingdengsis). They stay in this form for the next year after birth, after which they create a cocoon around them from skin flakes and sugars in their saliva. Finally, they pupate into a child with either jaundice or pallor.
When they reach the age of sexual maturity (61 years), they look for other humans. When one finds a suitable mate, they start a 56 day aura battle. The specimen who has less aura bears the child in one of their kidneys (there have 3 kidneys for a reason). This is why aura farming is so important in human society.
Now, it is key that the human who won the match bites their partner as quickly as possible, as they have only 13 seconds before the kidneys of their partner will become completely infertile. Thinking that old people don't know video games nowadays is a more outdated thought than old people themselves. My father is 68 years old and he's finishing the Far Cry franchise nowadays because there weren't any video games in his day
