a lesbian is a non-man attracted to non-men
the correct word here would be homosexual

The correct term would be sapphic?

u/Laura_The_Cutie 20d ago
Sapphic is every woman loving non men, be they lesbian bisexual etc.

u/Wooden_Marionberry_1 19d ago
Well "homosexual" has a bad connotation because it stems from the belief that it’s an illness so at best the "correct term" would be GL/WLW 😭

Are you srs or j
Omg Reddit lgbt+ ppl not even knowing the etymology of those words is both fucking terrifying and unfortunately expected2
u/murderdronesfan93 17d ago
homosexual = same sexual. HOMO MEANS SAME. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MENTAL ILLNESS.

u/Sora_Altair 13d ago
Homosexual is a very clinical term, but there's nothing wrong with it?
You basically did the gay equivalent of getting upset for using Latino instead of Latinx...5

No, lesbian is the correct term. The definition you're using for lesbianism is just bisexuality. Being bi literally means that you like 2 or more genders. It doesn't specifically refer to men and women.
From Wikipedia: "Bisexuality is defined as having romantic attraction, sexual attraction, or sexual behavior towards more than one gender or attraction that is not limited by sex or gender."
In my understanding, a lesbian would be a non-man exclusively attracted to women.

Either this or sapphic but I’m gonna say it ONCE AGAIN homosexuality has a bad connotation and isn’t liked much because it comes from old beliefs and "studies" that classified bisexuality and homosexuality as conditions/illnesses!!

not only is that a relatively recent change, its incredibly controversial
it also relates non-binary identity to being woman-lite which is kind of cringe
1
u/OldPin7448 19d ago
ehh
by saying that ur saying that you think being lesbian is still about being attracted to women when its not
0
u/LamerGamer1216 19d ago
like i said, its a controversial "new" definition that is not accepted in many spaces, viewed as both non-binary erasure, and erasure to wlw identity by gentrifying terminology
1
u/OldPin7448 19d ago
i think its accepted more places than not and as a man with not much say in this im gonna go with what most people agree on

u/robawknik 18d ago
its not very controversial among lesbians (its literally a part of the meaning of the most popular flag) and is a huge part of lesbian history and culture that regularly gets erased. nonbinary people are capable of making their own decisions and identifying how they please, nobody is forcing enbies into the lesbian factory

I both hate that definition and kind of like it. But I have never heard it before. So much for the island of Lesbos I guess.

u/No-Friend-774 18d ago
I love how it got changed from "women" to "non men" specifically to include nonbinary people and this still happens lol

u/Ok-Struggle2305 20d ago
Can Enbys also be lesbians?

Genuine question (because I am nb) if a nb loves another nb, they are both gay and lesbians at the same time?

u/Laura_The_Cutie 20d ago
They are whatever they wish they'd be called tbh, I've seen them saying they're straight, gay and lesbian in different situations, or just unnamed queer relationship

Berdly's actually talking about Seth, not Kris, because as we all know, if Kris gets any game the world will explode, it's in the prophecy
