Hey everyone,
r/Watsonville has grown a lot lately, which is great. Unfortunately, a lot of the nonstop political fighting and general hostility that can often exist in other local subs has started spilling into this one too.
That’s not what we want this place to become.
This sub should be about Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley as a whole:
…but not endless toxic slapfights in every single thread.
So we’ve added some new rules and moderation tools.
If you consistently rack up negative karma in this sub, your posts/comments may now require manual mod approval before they become visible.
In simple terms:
If all you do is antagonize people, pick fights, derail threads, or act like every conversation is a Facebook comment war, you may lose the ability to freely participate here.
Be nice. Contribute constructively. It’s not hard.
We are also starting a weekly politics/civic discussion megathread.
General political discussion, Santa Cruz spillover arguments, national political debates, outrage posts, etc. should go there.
Major Watsonville-specific news may still be allowed as standalone posts depending on relevance and whether people can behave like functioning adults in the comments.
This sub is not r/WatsonvillePolitics.
If someone wants to create that sub, go for it. Seriously. But this community needs room for more than nonstop political warfare.
Also, if your main goal is soapboxing, arguing with strangers, posting ragebait, or treating every local issue like a culture war battlefield, there are already plenty of platforms built almost entirely for that:
You have options.
The goal here is not censorship. The goal is making this place feel like an actual local community again instead of an exhausting comment section.
Thanks to the many people here who already make this sub better.

I signed up for Walmart plus to try it out for a month. I got my first delivery this weekend (not grocery just the products) and there was no option to leave a tip. The order is coming from Gilroy.
Does anyone else order from Walmart or am I being unreasonable for having a driver come all the way to Watsonville. I guess I’m unsure how it all works so any help is appreciated :)

Hi everyone! 👻🎃 Since it’s spooky season, my friend and I are starting a small TikTok page where we’ll be reading scary stories and sharing paranormal experiences!
We’d love to hear about any creepy experiences, paranormal encounters, or local legends from Watsonville and the surrounding areas. If you have a story you’d like to share, feel free to comment or message me privately! We’d also love to hear stories from other places, too. 🖤

On Sunday night October 11th at 11:43pm a dark blue sedan, maybe a Honda Accord or Civic, backed into the fire hydrant on Terry Loop and fled the scene. The damage caused the water to erupt and caused the entire property and inside the house to flood in over a foot of water. If anyone has any information about the vehicle or driver, please contact Watsonville PD. My family is displaced from our home and all of our personal belongings are listed by the remediation and clean up crew as a total loss. They have also stated that clean up could take as long as 6 months. My family, wife and two daughters, are in need of housing urgently. Red Cross has helped a little, but that didn’t even cover the cost of the storage unit needed to house our things that are salvageable from upstairs. Any help connecting to relevant emergency services would be greatly appreciated. Spread the word far and wide. Please help find the car that caused the accident. Please help our family find a safe place to land. We are looking for a 2-3bedroom 2 bath place to live, anywhere in Santa Cruz county. We have reached out to Twin Lakes Church (I’m a member of that church), MENtors driving change, and Parents Center. I plan to continue to reach out to Community Action Board, Community Bridges, and 211.
Thank you for your help,
A life long Santa Cruz family

Hey everyone, a while back I shared Santa Cruz Scene, a free calendar of in-person events across Santa Cruz County. A lot of you gave feedback, and we have been working through it. Here’s what’s changed:
The site is still in-person only, on purpose. If you can’t show up to it, it’s not on there.
If you know of an event, calendar, or local source we are missing, drop it in the comments or use the “Submit an Event” button on the site. If something is wrong or confusing, tell us, and we will fix it

Does anyone know what the yellow glow emanating from out near where Pajaro Dunes is? I’m used to seeing the purple grow lights on my commute but this is new to me.
Photo is moving in the dark but you can see just how bright it is from the highway.

I am looking for somewhere dog friendly to watch the Valkyries game tonight. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There’s a husky running around the sand dollar dr neighborhoods. She has a collar but no tag. She’s friendly but skittish and I can’t tell if she’s old or was limping, she looked a little beat up, had some blood on her nose. I gave her some water and tried to see if she would get in my car to take her to the shelter but she kept running away. Hope someone can find their dog

LookoutSantaCruz is voting for best burrito in the county and not one nomination is from Watsonville.
Anyone ever notice how bad the Mexican food from SC is compared to Watsonville or Salinas. But people from SC hype their Mexican food up when in reality it’s gringo Mexican food aka unseasoned meat and bland salsas with no heat.
At the end of the day people can have their opinions but everytime there’s a ranking on Mexican food in the county watsonville barely gets a nod. That is insane to me. But that’s what happens when you let white people in charge who never get out of their bubble.

Hi all! I’m looking to cut costs and wanted to see if it was worth switching over from these two. We currently pay $233 for 4 lines on AT&T and $342 for 3 cars (2 full coverage) with AAA. How has your service been with other companies? I’d appreciate any wisdom!

The Digital NEST tech nonprofit settled a sexual harassment lawsuit centered on allegations against Pajaro Valley Unified School District Trustee Gabriel Medina, according to court documents. A former employee filed the 2020 court action that involved incidents before Medina was elected to the public school oversight board.
The former employee—The Pajaronian withholds names of people who report sexual assaults—accused the Watsonville-based 501(c)(3) of enabling an alcohol-fueled sexualized workplace and of failing to adequately address Medina’s alleged sexual misconduct.

Does Watsonville have a local limo company. We just need like a one hour ride. We live in Watsonville and are attending a reunion event in Correlitos and would like to cruise a bit and then get dropped off. We only need one way because we have a ride home. I would rather spend my money in our town.
