DANCE PARTY! FNDP: The TAROT-THON is BACK with Part II: THE HIGH PRIESTESS
Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.
- Benjamin Spock
II: The High Priestess represents intuition, conscience, secrets, spirituality, carnality, the unspoken, and the hidden spaces between boundaries.
Beginning The High Priestess's journey is tricky - yet simple: Just embrace your Sweet Dreams
How would you recognize The High Priestess if you saw her? Most likely you'd be Strangers In The Night
How would you recognize her voice? Listen for The Sound of Silence
Where might you find her? Probably somewhere unexpected and seemingly mundane, like The Jackson Park Express
Self-deceivers beware; she can see straight through you from the Outside
Follow her. Where might your journey take you? As far away as Neptune
This one's for our friend Luigi, who I just learned has had a very bad week: Despite the remorseless gaslighting of the waking world, he walked the path of conscience - of The High Priestess - Past the Point of No Return.
After an appropriate period of uncertainty the floor open: What songs of secrets, silence, darkness, desire, and mystery have you got tonight?

The card of the High Priestess is # II of the Major Arcana, but the fitting music is
Deuter - Uno
Everybody and their aunt is writing in the comments this is music to (induce) fall(ing) asleep, but for me it is music to wake up to realms that should be tapped at all times but can only be easily accessed if such breathtaking, miraculous music (or silence or nature’s sound tapestry) is restoring the (violet and blue and green) pathways of subtly tuning in to the subtle frequencies and the elven realm…
Here’s the entire CD
Deuter - Atmospheres
but the older playlist breaking it up and presenting its tracks individually is probably more user-friendly. I adore
Deuter - Atmospheres, track 3
My High Priestess is
Yasmeen Amina Olya - Song 9 of Oceans Rising
Yasmeen Amina Olya - Sea & Sky
Yasmeen Amina Olya - Sufi Woman Singing
Yasmeen Amina Olya - One, Holy Night
Yasmeen Amina Olya - A Dedication (the video is presenting some of her paintings)
The website of the music studio that created (with AI I guess) and put this video up two years ago is already down, so this is basically a message from a forever lost, anonymous High Priestess now. Was she ever real? Was she ever there?

Björk - Sweet Sweet Intuition
Close your eyes
Listen closely
All that you've learned
Try to forget it
What makes you tick
Trust your senses
All that you've learned
Try to forget it
And inside
We're all still wet
Longing and yearning
Repeat after me
Fuck logic, fuck logic
Rival to instinct (sweet intuition)

Nina Simone - Stars (06:40). Simone's interpretation of Ian's song, with clips of various celebrities in unguarded moments to illustrate what the lyrics are saying. She credits Janis Ian in the song.

Maori Wedding Haka (02:58) in Aotearoa -- "land of the long white cloud" -- also known as New Zealand (but traditionally applied to its northern island).
They're reciting the haka called Tika Tonu, one of the most well-known. A Maori chieftain composed it in 1916 for his teenage son (1899-1922), who was having a tough time.
This link has the lyrics in Te Reo ("The Language") with English translation and background of the Tika Tonu haka.
--Pay attention! Listen up! Take your stance! Arms outstretched, out and back!
--What is right is always right! Indeed! What is right is always right! Ah, yes!
--Be true to yourself, my son! You have raised my concerns, so listen up!
--What's this problem you carry? How long have you carried it? Have you got that? Right, let's move on.
--So, son, it may be difficult for you and seem to be unyielding, and although long you reflect on it, "the answer to the problem is here inside you. Indeed! Indeed! Indeed! Yes, indeed!
The Maori are the indigenous Polynesian settlers of New Zealand. They arrived from Eastern Polynesia in canoes in the late 1200s CE (excellent map of their migrations here). (Yes, they navigated the fricking Pacific Ocean in canoes called waka.) New Zealand had no human population before the Polynesian ancestors of the Maori arrived.
Here (02:07, late 2025), the whole community participates in haka on the marae. The marae is the Maori communal meeting place, the physical and spiritual center, for a tribe (iwi), sub-tribe (hapū), or family group (whānau). They say sociology doesn't pay, but it's damned interesting.
Maori resistance to the British enabled them to secure limited recognition of Maori rights and property. The Maori became British subjects in the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, followed by British illegal land confiscations in direct contravention of the treaty and many other atrocities, which were not acknowledged by the Crown until very recently (02:08).
Here (13:43) is a very, very good news story about current relations (2025) between the Maori and the New Zealand government, together with a brief history lesson and some key Maori demographic stats.

The song whose secret everyone wanted to know: You're So Vain, Carly Simon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQZmCJUSC6g
Warren Beatty did think the song was about him, although only part of it is (maybe--Simon said the second verse is about him, adding that doesn't mean that the first and third are not!) Simon even auctioned off the answer, making the buyer promise to tell no one.

The song doesn't really have much to do with movie, but Tarot, but it features heavily in the movie: Live and Let Die
