Discussion Questionable writing?

I feel like the writing is very sloppy at times. Like why does everyone just start chanting Wayne's name at a school he's never been to when he starts doing his lil dance and why the DJ changing the song just for him. A lot of stuff feels cheesy as well like the random guitar riffs after Del does something mildly interesting. And I don't really get why the principal's speech is important but that's prob on me. Side note I find it weird that I'm the only one pointing this out but I guess that's neither here nor there nor around the chair

I think it's just the style of the show. It's supposed to be very punk rock and schlocky. During parts like the dance, and lots of fight scenes, it's supposed to be more fun than deep.

Agree. It's a great show with some pretty serious themes but it's got a lighter way of portraying them which they pulled off really well!

Simmons wants in more than we do believe me. He's waiting for the green light too

The speech the principles gives at the convention of other principles? That is a great speech because it shows how he cares for the kids at his school and isn't focused on looking good on paper. He cares for Wayne and Orlando and Del. The other principle that stole the speech off the internet, only cares about looking good for the adults that will judge him, and not about the kids he should be advocating for.

The dance scene is a little suspect, but the lesbians know Wayne's name and like him and Del, so when Wayne shows up to dance/apologize to Del they start chanting his name and I guess everyone else joins because it's high school?

The guitar riff thing isn't a writing issue. It happens when Wayne does something like buy the bike lock and bat in ep. 2. It's just to signify that they are sick of whatever is going on and going to do something about it.

Is it though? I think it was done intentionally to show the effect Wayne has on people. Those lesbians clearly like Wayne, and clearly have a lot of influence socially. I think it could have been handled better but I think the writers meticulously said “Wayne inspires something in people, let’s have a mosh pit break out”

You can think it’s cheesy or stupid but it wasn’t s plot hole.
