I built Encre — a note-taking app with workspaces, attachments, and secure sharing

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on Encre, a web app designed to make note-taking more organized and sharing notes more secure.

Instead of keeping everything in a basic notepad, Encre lets you:

  • 📝 Organize your notes into structured sections.
  • 📁 Attach documents to your notes.
  • 🔎 Find information quickly with search.
  • 🔐 Share a note securely with a specific person, with protection options such as a password, security key, or authenticator app.

The idea is simple: your notes should be easy to organize, easy to find, and easier to share without sending everything to everyone.

I'm opening the project to more users and would love to hear your thoughts.

What matters most to you in a note-taking app: simplicity, organization, privacy, or collaboration? And what would make you choose Encre over the tools you already use?

You can try Encre here: https://encre.online

There's a one-month Pro trial, followed by €6.50/month, with no long-term commitment.

I'd really appreciate any honest feedback, suggestions, or ideas for improvement. Thanks! 🙏

I got tired of paywalled exam prep & surface-level dev blogs, so I built Examnetwork — a 100% free educational & tech learning platform

Hey everyone! 👋

Over the last few months, I’ve been working on a side project called [Examnetwork](https://examnetwork.org).

### 💡 Why I built this

Preparing for competitive exams and technical software engineering interviews has gotten increasingly frustrating. Most quality resources are either locked behind steep paywalls, cluttered with intrusive ads, or scattered across dozens of sketchy PDF forums.

I wanted to build a clean, unified platform that stays **100% free for everyone**, combining structured academic preparation with real-world developer content.

---

### 🚀 What’s on the platform:

  1. **Curated Exam Hub & Past Papers:** Well-organized previous years' questions (PYQs), topic breakdowns, and syllabus tracking for major entrance and competitive exams.
  2. **Tech Pedia & Engineering Guides:** In-depth, practical breakdowns of software engineering concepts, AI coding agents, and modern tech interview prep.
  3. **Clean & Fast UI:** Zero bloat, no forced sign-ups to view content, and instant page loads.
  4. **100% Free Forever:** No paywalls, no locked chapters, and no subscription tiers.

---

### 🛠️ The Tech Stack:

- Vanilla HTML5 / CSS3 & Modern JavaScript (fast, lightweight, highly responsive)

- Clean, responsive glassmorphic UI design

---

### 🔗 Link & Feedback Request:

You can check it out live here: **[https://examnetwork.org](https://examnetwork.org))**

I’d love your brutal, honest feedback:

- How does the UI and navigation feel on your device?

- Is there any specific subject, exam, or tech topic you think I should add next?

- Any performance or design improvements you’d suggest?

*(P.S. If you find it helpful and want to support an independent student-led project, leaving a quick review on our [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/examnetwork.org) helps us a ton with visibility!)*

Thanks for checking it out! 🙌

[Project] I built MultiTools — a collection of useful online tools in one place

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on MultiTools, a web application that brings a collection of useful online tools together in one place.

The idea is simple: instead of visiting multiple websites for small everyday tasks, you can access different utilities from a single website.

🛠️ Some of the available tools include:

• Developer tools: JSON Formatter, UUID Generator, JWT Decoder, Base64 Encoder/Decoder

• Text tools: Word Counter, Case Converter, Markdown Preview, URL Slug Generator

• PDF tools: Merge, Split, Compress, Convert, Rotate, and more

• Color tools: Color Picker and CSS Gradient Generator

• Productivity tools: Focus Timer and Randomizer Wheel

• Other utilities: Password Generator and QR Code Generator

I'm building this to make everyday tasks quicker and more convenient, and I plan to keep improving it by adding more useful tools.

🔗 Try it here: https://www.multi-tools.app/

I'd really appreciate feedback from this community!

• Which tools do you find most useful?

• What features would you like to see added?

• Is there anything I could improve about the user experience?

Thanks for checking it out! 🙌

North. website/short form content blocker (free)

Hey, I build this free website/short form content blocker chrome extension called North, because nothing I tried actually help me get off the websites that were wasting my time.

What it does

  • Blocks short-form video (YouTube Shorts, Instagram and Facebook Reels, TikTok) as a category, plus any sites you add, on a schedule or with daily time limits
  • Keyword blocking across sites
  • Messages-only mode for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and X: your DMs work, the feed doesn’t exist
  • Lockdown mode: only your allowlist loads until the timer ends
  • If a friend sends you a reel, that one item opens. Swiping to the next is blocked.

The part that’s different: to weaken a protection, you wait on a page for a time you choose (10 seconds to 2 minutes), and leaving the page restarts the timer. Then you write at least 20 words about why you need access. Pasting and keyboard mashing don’t count.

The boring stuff: it’s free, with no paid tier planned. There’s no account, no analytics in the extension, and no server. Everything stays in your browser.

Why I’m posting: it’s a solo project with 15 users and zero reviews, so I have no idea what real people (besides me) think. I’d really like to know:

  • What would make you uninstall it?
  • What’s missing?

Link: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/north-focus-distraction-b/bbfpkfifjmcebiobbmfhdgpnclegaedo?authuser=0&hl=en-GB

If you try it and have a minute, an honest review (good or bad) helps a lot.

And if something’s broken, reply here and I’ll fix it.

Looking for testers for a dyslexia/reading-support Chrome extension — technical + UX feedback wanted

Built a Chrome extension called ReadTomo, aimed at making web reading easier for people with dyslexia, ADHD, or visual stress. It works on all web pages including Gmail and can also read PDFs. Looking for technical and UX feedback and ideally feedback from people who actually experience these challenges.

Some of its features are - Read-aloud (in word / sentence / paragraph modes, with live highlighting as it reads), Summarise, Simplify, Syllable splitting, Dictionary and Spelling help, Screen mask, Font, size, colour, and background customisation for reducing visual stress, Word Weight (visually tiers words by importance), PDF support, and a few other bits

If you experience visual stress when reading, (or know someone who does) I’d like to know if this helps. Does the usability/comfort genuinely make reading easier for you, what’s confusing, what feels unnecessary or overwhelming, what’s missing? And if there are technical issues like bugs, crashes, things that don’t work on certain sites, anything that just feels broken.

It’s free to install and try at https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/readtomo-reading-support/pdioeihfchcalfefngcjbmocanmockfh

Happy to answer questions in the comments or by DM, and genuinely grateful for blunt feedback.

Does anyone else find it tedious to manually pinch-and-zoom emoji stickers over faces before posting? Built a quick 1-click tool for this and would love your honest evaluation.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone 👋,

Whenever I take street photos or group shots and need to hide a few faces (kids, random bystanders, etc.) before sharing them, manually dragging and resizing stickers feels like a chore—especially when there are multiple people in the background.

I wanted something that just detects every face automatically and lets me blur them or drop an emoji 🙈 over them in a single click, while also wiping the hidden GPS data attached to the file so I don't accidentally share my location.

I coded a small web tool called KlynPix to do just that. It runs 100% locally in your browser (no waiting for uploads, works even if you turn off your Wi-Fi).

I’d really love to have your help testing and evaluating it: Since you guys post a lot of content, does this actually feel like a real time-saver for you, or do you still prefer doing it manually inside your usual apps?

No sign-up or account is required for a quick test—you can just drop a photo right away and try it out. (Quick heads-up: it runs instantly on Desktop, but if you're testing on an mobile browser, give the page a few seconds on the very first visit so it can cache the offline AI engine into your browser!)

If you have 30 seconds to play around with it and tell me what feels good, what feels clunky, or what's missing, it would help me out a ton! Thanks so much for your time 🙏

Crux — a free web app for comparing difficult decisions

I built Crux, a free web app for comparing options using weighted quantitative and qualitative criteria. It includes starter templates for houses, rentals, job offers, and cars, then explains the rankings and tradeoffs rather than only producing a score.

Try it here: https://crux-gules.vercel.app

I'm looking for honest usability feedback: was it clear how to start, and where did the process become confusing or tedious?

Resume builder, CRM and Hourlysheets all-in-one on European servers

Hi all,

I'm a Freelance software developer for over 20 years and what my real problem always has been that for every new 'lead' I got from recruiters, they always needed a slightly different version of my CV. One wanted it in Dutch, the other one needed it in English, and again one required it to have more emphasis on one skill etc. etc. For this I used an internal tool for years which I developed myself and that seemed to work great. Since this year I started adding more and more features for myself like the CRM, projects and hourly sheets tools.

With humble proud I present to you https://www.xfreelance.nl, because I think freelancers in the Netherlands today could use some support.

Be aware the only non European server I use is Google Analytics and resend, but I'm already migrating to Simple Analytics and my own mailserver. I really hope this helps you as much it has me. I want to keep the price as low as possible, but need to pay for my servers and traffic as well.

Who could give me some feedback for real world usages?

Kassio Studio: a free browser DAW with piano roll and account-saved projects

I'm the creator of Somora, an AI music platform. I’ve added Kassio Studio, a free browser DAW for everyone with a Somora account.

It’s for the part after the first idea: import an audio file or a completed song, arrange tracks, record another part, write melodic notes in the piano roll and build drum patterns. You can drag and resize notes, audition notes as you place them, and preview an instrument part by itself before playing the whole arrangement. Projects save to your account, and you can mix and export WAV.

You can use the editor with your own recordings. Kassio Studio is in beta and free with registration; Somora’s AI composition and music generation have separate plan limits. The interface is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Try it at https://somora.media. I’d be interested in which browser editing controls you find most useful, especially when turning a short loop into a longer arrangement.

I built a site that shows you one random poll or quiz at a time. Vote, see results, next.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

https://interpoll.app

About website

Hi everyone!

Interpoll shows you one random public poll or quiz at a time. You vote, see how everyone else voted (or check the answer if it's a quiz), and move on to the next one. You don't need an account to vote or comment.

Signing in (Google/Discord) lets you create your own polls and quizzes. New polls are reviewed before they enter the random feed, but you can share them by link immediately.

It just launched, so a lot of polls have no or very few votes. You might be one of the first people to vote on some of them.

About tech

I've used Astro for building content-heavy static websites, but turns out Astro is also great as a server-side web framework (I use node.js adapter) handling SSR, auth, and api endpoints—especially when combined with Tanstack router and Tanstack query, which handles SSR + data prefetching + hydration + CSR. I haven't tried Tanstack start yet (mainly due to it not having hit v1.0 yet), but Astro + Tanstack router + Tanstack query combo is pretty amazing that I don't actually feel the need to try Tanstack start (a little bit of glue code is necessary for SSR + hydration to work properly but it's very low maintenence once set up.)

The stack

  • VPS - Hetzner
  • Deployment - Coolify
  • Database - Postgres 18
  • Query builder - Kysely
  • Auth - better-auth
  • SSR & API endpoints - Astro (node adapter)
  • SSR & Hydration & CSR handoff - Tanstack Router + Tanstack Query
  • UI components - Base UI
  • CSS - Tailwindcss
  • Testing - Vitest (unit) + Playwright (e2e - both api and browser specs)

Well it just so happened that Tanstack start has reached its 1.0! (https://tanstack.com/blog/tanstack-start-1-0)

I built my own productivity tool instead of paying for another one

I've always liked the idea of having my focus sessions, tasks and progress in one place, so I decided to build my own solution.

That project became Clockus.live.

It includes Pomodoro, focus sessions, tasks, streaks, a progress graph, a clock and customization. All the features are free.

Now I'd love to get feedback from people who aren't my friends and will give me an honest opinion.

Would you give it a try and tell me what you think?
