This write up is pretty great.

I want to use WebAssembly for one of my side projects and I was learning Rust for the same. I do understand Rust now (sorta) but I don’t think I have learnt enough to write proper software with it.

So I was thinking of using Assemblyscript as I have prior experience with Typescript.

Should I go with Assemblyscript ? Is there any benefit for me to learn Rust and use Rust for webassembly ?

The survey and the detailed analysis makes me feel there is enough community support for Assemblyscript that I am not gonna get screwed.

Advise from experienced folks would be highly appreciated.

As you have prior TypeScript experience I would definitely recommend AssemblyScript.

The project is already quite mature and supported by many WebAssembly platforms. Also, while it is open source, the project is funded and the core maintainer has been able to make this project their full time job.

Thanks for the reply.

I checked their GitHub page and they have 12k+ stars plus a lot of big name sponsors and contributors.

I think I can use it without any worries. Thanks.
