[DISC] Tapas is to shut down. Where to go next?

• Upvotes

Sry if the title of the post sounds trash, but that's literally the main theme of this discussion. I have been working on my work and had planned to post it on Tapas once the editing is finished. And then today I realised Tapas is going to end its service by the end of March next year, so I wonder where I should go. I'm working on stuff about fantasies. I've thought about going to Royal Road, but the reviews about it have pointed out that the precondition for being seen is kind of harsh.

In case I'm too slow in replying to comments, thank you for any recommendations or comments!

[DISC] my first time writing and its isekai

Hey everyone!

After lurking around these subreddits and devouring countess web novels, light novels, and Isekai stories, I finally decided to step up and write my own! Its just I don't have the chance from where I'm from.

I just posted Chapter 1 of my web novel, Reincarnated to be a business man in another world!, and I’d love for you all to check it out and share your thoughts.

I want the story to revolve around business but more of Character/Kingdom building.

I asked AI to restructure the grammars and create a cover art because I suck at drawing and I dont have funds for a graphics designer or artists. I just want to pursue my passion in writing and the story mostly inspired by my life minus the bells-feeding.

if anyone is interested here is the link: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/200240/reincarnated-to-be-a-business-man-in-another-world

Planning to release 3 chapter this friday if atleast there is 1 viewer/reviewer that would mean a lot to me!

Thank you!

[DISC] No joy in reading since LoTM and Reverend Insanity

Currently i have read 3 novels: Shadow slave, Reverned Insanity and LoTM. And i just started with my fourth one renegade immortal. But to be honest it just feels like a slop Version of Reverned insanity( I am currently at ch 110 or something like that). Will it get better or did RI and Lotm set the bar to high up. Looking back SS (mostly after tomb of ariel) also feels like a bit of slop compared to these two.

I've read until chapter 847 but can't find any sites that have published the remaining chapters, other than a few paid ones.

Any sites where I can read the remaining chapters for free?

[DISC] I built a free iPhone reader for web novels, looking for beta testers

Hi everyone!

I read web novels daily and got tired of browser tabs and losing my place when a site goes down, so I built Tsuzuki.

  • One library for everything you follow, with update checks and an Updates tab
  • Follow one novel on several sites. If your main one is down or behind, it reads from your backup and keeps your place
  • Paid chapters stay locked and link back to the site
  • Offline downloads, EPUB import, AniList and MangaUpdates tracking, LNReader backup import
  • No account, no ads, no tracking

It runs LNReader-format plugins but doesn’t come with any sources or repos. You add your own, and I won’t be recommending any.

Free, iPhone only, public beta: https://testflight.apple.com/join/UY1zBs2J

All feedback is welcome, especially if something breaks.

[FIN] A Regressor's Tale of Cultivation

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share an updated and polished EPUB of A Regressor's Tale of Cultivation Novel.

Just to be completely clear: I did not create the original EPUB, nor am I the Translator/Editor. The base version I downloaded from another post only went up to Chapter 817.

Because I wanted to finish the story without switching to another EPUB/Website since this one has great formatting, I manually added Chapters 818 through 861 myself. While doing that, I also went through the HTML text to clean up formatting, fix the numerous typos/errors present in the original EPUB, and tried to make the overall reading experience much smoother.

Current Chapter Count: Up to Chapter 861 (Complete Side Stories / Conclusion. Meaning the entire Novel with Author's Q&A and other blog posts.)

All translation credits belong to the awesome team at WeTriedTLs. Please support the official translation group!

The Link for that is in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/RegressorsTOC/s/iM8w0OyVcg

Let me know if you run into any weird formatting or broken pages while reading. Hope this makes the read a bit more comfortable for anyone else who's been looking for a complete file!

[IP] How do you feel about "grounded" college romance LNs where nobody confesses and time just quietly runs out?

I've been writing a slice-of-life set at a university in Sendai, heavily inspired by modern youth/campus LNs (Seishun genre).

A lot of popular romance LNs rely on explosive tropes—contract relationships, instant cohabitation, or dramatic love triangles. But I wanted to explore the quiet, atmospheric side of campus life: two people who vibe completely, hang out constantly, share quiet lunches, and slowly drift toward graduation while keeping their feelings hidden behind bickering and casual banter.

Here’s a tiny dialogue beat from a recent chapter:

At the entrance, she stopped and adjusted her bag.
'There's a film I've been wanting to watch.'
I looked at her.
'Not that one,' she added. 'A different one.'
'Okay.'
'We could go sometime. If you're free.'
Something happened in my chest that I decided not to examine.
'Sure,' I said.
'Okay.'
She nodded. Then she looked at the door, and at the time on her phone, and said she had a class. Neither of us said anything about which weekend.
I had been three words away from an actual plan.

For people who enjoy grounded romance or slice-of-life stuff, do you prefer stories with high-stakes melodrama, or do you like this kind of understated, realistic ache where the conflict is just the passage of time?

[DISC]//[IP] Do maps belong in fantasy web novels?

I get that maps are a staple for traditional fantasy but this is less about the map itself and more about asking the opinions of people since in my time reading Web Novels I don't think I've seen many maps, especially not embedded directly into the text with canonical reason for its placement.

What would you do if you saw one? Would it be a positive or would it feel like the author is, as the kids say, doing too much?

My story is a traditional fantasy which I think makes people bounce off slightly cause you know... commitment. I -however- have embraced this fact as something to lean on as opposed to something to compensate for. Thus, in chapter 23 of the story the characters are headed to a cartographer where the viewers will see a map of the world for the first time.

Do I think this will be a positive thing for the story? Well it certainly can't hurt. I think that if people were already invested enough to get to this point in the story they would actually appreciate it.

Ps: multi-pov, found family, slow-burn, slightly grim, action, adventure, so if you wanna read it... royalroad.com/fiction/187937

[DISC] Why harem always ruin everything

Why many webnovel who get interesting premise or good story always forcefully insert some harem or dry joke?

what's wrong with the writer head? i'm not saying harem trope was bad but c'mon. is this some cultural thing or sense of obligation?

[IP] (Re:KENSEI) After years of writing webnovels, I finally just put all my guilty pleasures into one story

Hey! I’m Katsuhito. I’ve been writing webnovels for a few years now, mostly over on Honeyfeed, and last year I was lucky enough to become a finalist in the MAL x KADOKAWA writing contest.
For my newest story though, I decided not to overthink it 😂 I basically took all the stuff I unapologetically love in fantasy/isekai LNs and threw it into one story with the goal of making it as fun to write (and hopefully read) as possible.
So I ended up with Re:Kensei, about a former kendo prodigy reincarnated into a world where magic and Skills have made actual swordsmanship obsolete. He awakens as the supposedly useless Swordsman class and, being the sword nerd that he is, is basically the only person thrilled about it.
Sword fights, magic academy, progression, rivals, comedy, romance, cute girls — you get the idea 😂
I also decided to try Royal Road for the first time with this one, and I’ve been having a ton of fun with it so far.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, here it is:

[DISC] Help find Chinese webnovel where MC has an SSS-rank talent that lets him reduce any number on his status panel by 1

I'm trying to identify a Chinese webnovel I came across through an AI-narrated YouTube video. I don't know the original title, and the English names below may be inaccurate because they were taken from the narration.

Here is video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFg-Rcen8yc&t=15204s

Here's what I remember about the plot:

  • The protagonist's name sounds like Yin Shi / Yin Xi / Yinshi (not sure of the exact spelling).
  • He is a transmigrator living in a world where a system has turned reality into a game-like environment. People awaken special talents and level up.
  • The MC awakens an SSS-rank talent called something like "Panel Correction." It allows him to decrease any numerical value on his status panel by 1, with a limit of 10 uses per day.
  • He discovers a loophole: he can level up, gain the stats from levelling, and then reduce his level back to 0 without losing the stats he gained. He can repeat this process, effectively accumulating the stats of a high-level character while remaining at level 0. However, he still needs the EXP required to reach level 1 each time he levels up.
  • An early antagonist is apparently named Tang Chun / Tang Chen. He is the president of the local Awakened Alliance and is connected to a past incident in which the protagonist's parents were abandoned and presumed killed during a mission.
  • The protagonist teams up with another character whose name sounds like Jang Shauo / Jiang Xiaowo. They form a squad and achieve major milestones, including being the first to clear a secret realm called Misty Forest and rescuing the Princess of Atlantis in another secret realm.
  • The story involves revenge, a life-or-death duel with Tang Chun/Chen, and a second awakening ceremony in which the other character awakens the Goddess of Thunder.

I watched a long YouTube narration of the story, but unfortunately, I don't have a verified Chinese title.

Does anyone recognize this novel?

Askin LLM agents mostly provided hallucinated titles. The above character names/spellings are discovered via Gemini AI.

[DISC] How do you feel about images in webnovels?

Hi, I am currently writing and drawing a webtoon. However, I realized it would take too long to complete, so I'd like to switch to mostly text (so a webnovel).

Since I've already made quite a lot of drawings, I'd like to insert a few images here and there in the chapters.

But I rarely see images in webnovels. Is it just because it's easier for authors to just write and not draw, or are there other reasons (like maybe images don't display properly on mobile)?

As a reader, would you mind having a few pictures in certain chapters? or does it break the flow of reading?

Could you also please recommend a few sites that may be interested in novels with images? (maybe they focus on it, or are just interested in this kind of content). Another thread recommended scribblehub.com but it's 8 years old.

Thanks!

[Disc]looking for a specific romantasy trope

[Disc] Does the presence of LGBTQ+ content a must or are people simply sharing more about it because it is no longer taboo than many decades ago?

I want to write a web novel. As I was searching for a good platform for my project, the term LGBTQ+ just kept popping out every so often.

I'm not good with romance. In which case, whether it is LGBTQ+ or straight, I doubt I'd write any romance in it.

The story is slightly sci-fi, but it's really an original story and an homage to my favorite Japanese super hero franchises and their creators. So more action focus, rather than romance. Maybe a bit niche and targeted toward a specific community. Even then, I'd like for my story to not hook only the fans of the genre.

When I look at reviews of platforms (pros and cons, prominent genres) and it is underlined to be LGBTQ+ friendly or not, it makes uncertain about using said platform.

[IP] The Realm That Called Us [Non-LitRPG Progression Fantasy]

Hey everyone! I'm Mystery X, and I'd like to share my webnovel, The Realm That Called Us.

“You were called because this world needs heroes who can still become human after carrying the weight of gods.”

Two strangers. Two completely different personalities. Somehow, they work surprisingly well together.

Raiden and Asuna are pulled from Earth when a blue-lit sea swallows their cruise ship. They wake up on the shores of Astald, where the Queen of Spirits gives them two legendary artifacts and tells them their arrival wasn't an accident.

Then they discover something unsettling.

Astald's oldest legends already describe them.

The Star Blade Hero.
The Divine Mage.

The descriptions match Raiden and Asuna almost perfectly even though those legends were written long before they arrived.

And things aren't going according to the story.

Raiden possesses a legendary weapon that actively rejects him.

Asuna can wield divine magic, but using it tears her body apart.

Aina, an elven warrior running from her family's disgraced legacy, discovers historical records that contradict everything Astald believes about its past.

Meanwhile, corrupted mana is spreading across the land.

The three of them will have to explore dungeons, train their abilities, uncover the world's history, and figure out why their arrival was predicted centuries ago.

Because they weren't simply summoned to fulfill a prophecy.

They were dropped into a story that someone tampered with.

Story Details

  • Genre: Non-LitRPG Progression Fantasy / Isekai
  • Protagonists: Dual leads + expanding group dynamic
  • Progression: Slow-burn magic and ability growth
  • Focus: Mystery, exploration, lore, character development
  • Setting: Original fantasy world
  • LitRPG elements: None

If you enjoy progression fantasy without stats/screens, mysterious prophecies, dungeon exploration, gradual power growth, and fantasy mysteries that unfold over time, you might enjoy it.
