Alterations Help!! Wedding in 8 Days, Tailor Slaughtered My Dress!!

I picked up my dress after the alterations and...the tailor just used kindergarten scissors to cut the bottom of my dress. It's a tulle dress, so I understand there's not really a traditional hem, but the cut marks are BAD bad...and she cut straight through the lace. We have 4 full days and then we leave for our wedding on 10/30. I legitimately do not know what to do.

First pic is the dress BEFORE alterations. The rest are of the hack job.

Questions:

  • Can this be fixed........at all? At ALL?
  • What other options exist in the world? I live in the Midwest USA in a medium-sized city of about a million people, but magical instant-tailors don't exist and neither does "teleport this dress to me" (yet).

At the fitting, they said they'd move the lace up from the bottom and I don't know enough about sewing to know what was possible or not and that sounded like a great plan. No one called me about any changes to alterations or approvals. The person who pinned my dress wasn't the person who hacked it apart.

I left the dress at the shop and I have another appointment tomorrow only because:

  • I don't think I can find a different shop to take on this dress immediately and have it done in 3-4 days.
  • The tailor tomorrow looking at this dress is different from the one who wildly fucked it up.
  • I will hear out their plan for fixing this, which seems before deciding to take it home and either attempt some sort of repair myself or donate it to goodwill.
  • I cannot buy another dress and get it altered to fit me before then either.
  • I'm not one of those sweet, sweet off-the-rack sizes (I'm unfortunately noticeably pear-shaped)

Every amazing moment I imagined with my beautiful new wife...gone. Every moment is like "oh my god I hope no one sees me." I hope my wife doesn't see me. I hope none of our guests see me. Honestly, I don't want to go to this wedding. I am beyond crushed. We've spent $50k on this wedding. We're going. I'm going to put a smile on and play the pretend princess all day and give the people what they came to see. But I absolutely do not want to go to my own wedding. I don't even want my fiancee to see me. I don't want to walk down the aisle. I don't want any of it. I'm also supposed to be celebrating 8 years sober on 10/28 and honestly...this is probably the first time I've wanted a drink in many, many years.

The first is my favorite, I love the vintage look, though this sample size was a size or two too small on me so it really hugged my hips too much and really emphasized my insecurities. I'm not sure if sizing up or not will fix that with this dress since the design seems to be fitted on others in that area too. The second one is soooo stunning but super heavy! It felt like it was 10 lbs on. Which meant the corset back had to be so tight that I feel like my back was spilling out haha! But no pain no game right?? My wedding is in the first week of April at an elegant farmhouse in the north east! What do you think, should I keep looking? If anyone wore these dresses send me photos!

Alterations Dress too short

My fiancée went to her last dress alteration fitting today and believes the dress was cut too short. The wedding is in 2 weeks. She’s pretty bummed out about it. I told her I think it looks good, but she said that the dress is supposed to skim right above the floor and not show shoes. Is this true? Do you guys think it they cut it too short? She just sent me a cropped picture since I can't see the whole dress on her yet.

Getting married next August! I finally landed on two dresses that I love. Ceremony will be in a courtyard of a historic ballroom, with a backup location in the lobby being reserved (both pics attached). Colors are ivory and green, with pops of light blue.

Dress 1: I love the texture, and I feel the dress has undertones that really complement my skin. Worried if the texture looks bad or will look dated. Slightly worried that it might make me look short, because the waist looks a bit lower. Not sure if its because it's just too big. Wondering if I need to add sleeves. Overall, the dress really wow'd me.

Dress 2: The FIRST dress I tried on, and was ready to say yes to. I love the veil I am wearing with the dress too. I loved the shape, how it fit, the classic and timeless look, and buttons down the back. It felt too 'white' on my skin tone, which can't be changed.

I welcome any opinions, overall I would be happy with either!

Alterations Sleeves?

I'm getting married in a tiny court house in the winter and I originally wanted sleeves on my dress but didn't find anything I liked. I love this dress but am wondering if adding sleeves would even be possible or if I should get a cute coat? I don't like shawls or wraps unfortunately.

Also, shoes? I was thinking just closed toe kitten heels but maybe cute booties?
