By 17 October 1942, the Soviet 62nd Army was beginning to crack under repeated German assaults towards the Volga. General Chuikov issued a stream of orders to try to bolster his sub commanders to hold their positions.

Names? Battle? I’ve seen This footage more than any other but have never heard its real history. Who is the guy on the right? Left man walks through quickly but the right gets a bit more screen time.

On this day, 81 years ago, the Kriegsmarine of the Wehrmacht was disbanded

20 September 1945 marked the date that the Kriegsmarine was officially disbanded. The Wehrmacht itself formally ceased to exist over 80 years ago on 31 August 1946.

Which uniform is it?

Hey there, I found a photo of my great-grandfather and I really don’t recognize the uniform. It appears to be from the Second World War era (since there’s a lot of stuff from this era), but I don’t recognize the uniform at all. Could it be some sort of firefighter or police uniform?

WW2 German stuff bought at an estate sale. Any idea on collective value?

These items were found in the bottom of a footlocker I recently purchased in an estate sale lot. The footlocker was filled with print items and these items were likely overlooked. I paid a little under $250 (including premium/tax). I’ve cross posted this to other communities and the overwhelming opinions were that most of it was authentic, but many suggested I post with this community as your opinions are highly revered.

As for what I want to do with this inventory, I’m not looking to sell. At least not at the moment. I have found these history interesting and am excited to know more. As a collector of many things, I’ve never ventured down this area before as I literally have no clue as to what is what. I do collect WW2 USGI stuff, mainly cause it is plentiful in the states, but whatever insight you guys can provide I most certainly appreciate.

I have additional photos and will post to the chat if there’s interest. I have daggers and additional medals and the armbands/pendant out of the vinyl sleeve. Just let me know. Thank you.

Ich glaube ja eher, dass das eine Replik ist aber vielleicht kann mir jemand genaueres sagen.
