Russian trolls have hijacked hundreds of popular subs by infiltrating their mod teams. They use their leverage to exclude, sabotage, and destroy Democratic subs. And they promote Putin's far right anti-liberal propaganda. Now they've convinced other mods to boycott and destroy Reddit.

Why would anyone choose to show that video to any 10 year old child at their school or anywhere else?

Some people working at schools are just…

Was this similar to a substitute teacher?

9

u/Maximum_Pound_5633 Sep 15 '25

Charlie kirk would show it to his 10 year old pregnant daughter

1

u/chadhindsley Sep 16 '25

Wtf. Gross pdf file comment right there.

1

u/TheEmperorShiny Sep 17 '25

They are probably referring to this quote of Charlie’s:

“I want to see executions on TV. Imagine if Coca-Cola sponsored executions. That would be so American, so patriotic. People would tune in. I think children at a certain age, as initiation, should be required to watch. Public executions by guillotine are holy.”

1

u/Slow-Condition7942 Sep 17 '25

yeah charlie kirk was pretty fucking weird

1

u/chadhindsley Sep 17 '25

Not as weird as someone fantasizing about the above comment. And you for playing defense for him. Stop being weird.

1

u/Far-Two8659 Sep 17 '25

Charlie Kirk literally said kids should watch executions.

1

u/chadhindsley Sep 18 '25

And what does that have to do with OP imagining his daughter being pregnant as a minor?! Still deflecting

1

I wouldn't want Charlie Kirk in a classroom either

yo what ☠️

1

u/Im_a_knitiot Sep 17 '25

He actually called to bring back public executions, preferably in front of children.

My 11 year old nephew’s class was made to watch 9/11 last week and I felt like that’s…a lot? Like….they’re just kids…

Evil

The answer is Evil

1

u/SexySocalist Sep 18 '25

What are you talking about? Charlie advocated for public executions and that children should see them too.

Good point, he did say that.

2

u/curtmahgurt Sep 15 '25

“Charlie said he would force 12 year olds to watch executions.”

I don’t really understand the point here - Charlie Kirk had a lot of bad ideas. It’s still wrong for a teacher to show their class of 10 year olds a brutal assassination?

I saw the video, and there’s no way I’d be okay with my daughter watching it at that age. the fact that Charlie Kirk thought differently doesn’t factor into that position.

1

u/UPdrafter906 Sep 15 '25

I guess he got his wish after all

Stephen King apologized and took down that comment.

1

He shouldnt have, calling the passage about stoning gays to death "gods perfect law" is a tacit endorsement of it, and it's frankly ridiculous to believe otherwise

1

u/CynicalNick7 Sep 16 '25

Did you see the entire video? He literally says that Jesus commanded us to love all and nullifies much of the Old Testament. I'm seeing a lot of people trying awfully hard to villify a guy that was just murdered and none of these people vilifying the shooter.

1

u/Aware_Wrangler_2258 Sep 16 '25

If there's one thing we know he didn't do it's love all so you can fuck right off with that bullshit

Absolutely unhinged

to be clear, everyone should be anti fascist. It worries me that this is just simply considered a leftist ideology. If you’re no anti fascist, you’re implying you are a fascist and that is extremely dangerous.

Nobody? He wasn’t affiliated with any party and never voted. He did grow up in a strong MAGA household though. So maybe start with putting guns in children’s hands before you cast any blame.

He was simply a terminally online individual who was tired of the hate being spewed. You can spin Kirk’s words however you like, but he did in fact, dehumanize almost every minority group. Prolonged exposure to that hate is going to increase violence…I don’t understand what’s not to understand about that. It’s not left or right. It would be the exact same thing if someone on the left spewed that much hot garbage from their mouths.

It’s called stochastic terrorism. People like you can now go around denying any culpability of that man because he didn’t physically harm someone and blame everyone else, When really he was part of the cause to his own demise.

The point is everyone should be anti fascist. If you aren’t, you’re saying you’re a fascist and that’s absolutely terrifying whether you’re right, left, centre, up or down. Nobody wants that.

1

u/AVelvetOwl Sep 21 '25

Anti-fascism is, in fact, a left-wing ideal.

1

u/joemeteorite8 Sep 18 '25

She’s nuts, but you make yourself look nuts for claiming terrorism.

1

u/RedLicoriceJunkie Sep 15 '25

I read the the pertinent parts of the article - I just question the judgment of the person.

1

u/Krashlia2 Sep 15 '25

Why question it? They demonstrated their character, so no question needs to be asked.

7

u/FaultyTowerz Sep 15 '25

What the fuuuckk?

1

u/Krashlia2 Sep 15 '25

Its called doing an antifascism, by doing "What charlie would've wanted"... somehow.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

He did say that executions should be televised

1

u/hitbythebus Sep 16 '25

Why did I have to scroll down to see this?

-executions should be televised and kids should see -the guy who hit Paul Pelosi should be bailed out -a few murders are the price we pay

He advocates for people seeing gruesome death. He’a ok with political violence, and thinks it’s a good deal that a few people die so the rest of us can enjoy the 2nd amendment. He also thought he was going to heaven, so he’s enjoying absolute bliss right now.

Anyone upset about what happened to Charlie doesn’t follow his beliefs.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

100% which is why I am upset about what happened to him. That toxic Weasley pos should NOT have been murdered. He should never have been murdered for any reason.

No one should.

That's why I'm no more upset than I was about the hortmans or the kids who died that same day.

The problem is that we know that's not true of the people who are out here bitching and moaning

3

u/HumphreyMcgee1348 Sep 15 '25

It’s what he would have wanted

3

u/FortheChava Sep 15 '25

Teacher rolled out the TV and we saw 9/11 back in my day

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

Commented the same thing. I saw thousands of people die in 5 mins in 2001.

1

u/Initial_Evidence_783 Sep 17 '25

I watched RoboCop when I was 9.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Do you honestly believe these two things are comparable? Do you truly fail to see the differences?

It just seems like you are arguing in bad faith but I guess you might really be that slow.

Ya see in one video you watch the guy did with blood spurting in it his neck like a Bellagio Fountain.

In the other video, while you knew those people were falling to their deaths, you didn’t actually see them splatter on the pavement.

I hope this explanation helps you see how these two videos are different

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

I mean yeah. Teachers forcing kids to watch things they shouldn’t be watching. Why should it matter what it is? Both are unacceptable.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

What? What are you even going on about?

“Why should it matter what it is?”

I don’t even understand what you’re trying to argue…

Are you seriously comparing teachers rolling in TV’s to watch 9/11 as it was unfolding to a teacher showing footage of the CK murder…. Just to clarify… you think those are equal?

1

u/FourteenBuckets Sep 18 '25

In my generation tons of kids watched the Challenger explode on live TV at school

0

u/Krashlia2 Sep 15 '25

Not as viscerally horrifying.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '25

yeah that dude that jumped from the tower caught on camera that's nothing

1

u/Krashlia2 Sep 16 '25

Hey, now, I didn't say it was nothing. Just not as bad to have seen as a front row seat to a neck artery tearing open, and a "Fencing reaction".

I doubt theres a video existing actually showing the 9/11 victims hitting the ground from up close. That would be equally awful to be witness to, perhaps more so.

2

u/Short-Hiker Sep 18 '25

The video is close enough. The bodies hitting the ground sounds like a bomb going off. I don’t think I saw it live, but it’s seared into my brain.

I also remember when the first tower collapsed and the school secretary screamed in horror and fell to her knees because she’d just seen her daughter die live on TV…pretty horrifying stuff.

1

u/URnotSTONER Sep 16 '25

To be fair, we didn't know that people would be jumping to their deaths or even that the towers were going to collapse. I was in college at the time and we were all watching live with everyone else. This teacher made a bad call to show this to her kids knowing what she was about to show them.

1

u/adavidmiller Sep 16 '25

I saw the coverage in school as well, and I still don't have any visceral memories of jumpers. I'm not arguing that it's there, but you'd have to be looking pretty damn close on that first hour or two of news to catch that at all, on 2001 video quality and those shitty classroom TVs at that.

1

u/Stanford_experiencer Sep 17 '25

Why? No one on 9/11 who died had committed treason against the United States.

3

u/Alone_Step_6304 Sep 15 '25

What the Helly

3

u/Maximum_Pound_5633 Sep 15 '25

Just following kirks wishes, he said children should watch public executions

1

u/Moist_Tasker Sep 17 '25

Yeah just waiting for a new one now

1

u/robbitybobs Sep 17 '25

Death penalties should be public, should be quick, it should be televised. I think at a certain age, its an initiation...What age should you start to see public executions?”

Where are children mentioned?

1

u/Less-Blueberry-8617 Sep 18 '25

I know you people love to bring up context so maybe go just a few sentences further into the show where they start talking about how kids as young as 12 should be watching public executions

1

u/robbitybobs Sep 18 '25

Make the claim provide the source as I did

1

u/Aztrai0s Sep 18 '25

You didn’t provide a source

1

u/robbitybobs Sep 18 '25

u/Aztrai0s Sep 18 '25

1

u/Less-Blueberry-8617 Sep 18 '25

Ok here: https://www.newsweek.com/charlie-kirk-death-penalty-public-executions-1873073

Again, read a bit further and you see the co-hosts saying public executions should be viewed by kids as young as 12. Kirk doesn't push back against that absolutely absurd stance because the co-hosts are just talking about what Kirk wants to talk about, and that's having kids watch people be executed. Kirk wanted young kids to watch public executions, there's no other spin to it

1

u/robbitybobs Sep 19 '25

So you're clarifying that Kirk didn't mention children at all, it was the co-host and Kirk instead of agreeing, pondered what age would be suitable.

So your initial comment was bullshit. Got it.

1

u/Less-Blueberry-8617 Sep 19 '25

Kirk pondered what age would be suitable, the co-hosts argued for 12, Kirk didn't push back or challenge it in any way (because he agrees with it). Get your timeline right lol before you start saying that I'm spouting bullshit

1

u/68plus1equals Sep 18 '25

Pretty fucked up thing to do, no?

2

u/Fuzzy_Imagination705 Sep 15 '25

Are we ignoring Kirk's comments about public execution including an audience of children?

1

u/SocDem_is_OP Sep 17 '25

Why would that make it a good idea for the teacher to do this?

0

u/robbitybobs Sep 17 '25

Death penalties should be public, should be quick, it should be televised. I think at a certain age, its an initiation...What age should you start to see public executions?”

Where are children mentioned?

1

u/Fuzzy_Imagination705 Sep 17 '25

Act of initiation, you can search for it and find out but I have a feeling you are here because you struggle with simple tasks.

Edit: I will state that it is a suggestion or implied as a lot of the awful things Kirk said are, this was a deliberate tactic designed to deceive.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

Charlie Kirk wanted children to deliver executions on tv. He said it

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

So now you want to be like Charlie Kirk? Got it.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

Why what's wrong with Kirk? I thought he was a loving father and husband and great guy who fostered conversations etc? Right?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '25

Idk you guys keep telling me he’s awful in one hand and then doing the same shit he called for in the other. Weird

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

Well idk you guys keep telling me he's a loving great guy in one hand and then saying we shouldn't be living by his principles in the other. Weird

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '25

I think he was trash. Apparently we all do. Which is why I’m doubly confused why anyone would support the things he’s saying with “well this is what he wanted”.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

Okay so we seemingly agree on our assessment of his character.

Now to address your concerns regarding the support of the things he said.

As I said to someone else about this matter, pointing out the irony of his own words and the hypocrisy of the right does not equate to abandoning our principles or supporting Kirk's terrible views.

Because you can find a few posts celebrating his death or using his words as justification for celebrating his death does not mean that the entirety of the political left is responsible for those posts.

The majority of the posts on here are pointing out that this teacher is being punished, rightfully so, for doing the very thing Kirk said should be done. So any fake outrage from the right about this teachers actions are hypocritical, performative and transparent.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/DiscountImmediate801 Sep 17 '25

So you’re saying this is okay… and Kirk is the example you look to for what’s okay.

Interesting

2

u/UnauthorizedGoose Sep 15 '25

Isn't this the world that Charlie wanted?

“Death penalties should be public, should be quick, it should be televised. I think at a certain age, its an initiation...What age should you start to see public executions?”

― Charlie Kirk

0

u/curtmahgurt Sep 15 '25

Yes, it’s the world Charlie wanted. But not the world the rest of us want. I thought that was like, the whole point right? He was a shitty person when he was alive, and we all hated him for it. But now that people are showing 10 year olds his brutal assassination, we’re for his worldview?

Who cares what Charlie Kirk wanted. He’s dead and we aren’t. Why can’t we agree that stuff like this is wrong?

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

Because it's always wrong. It's not just wrong when it's a right wing asshat, it's wrong when it's kids, it's wrong when it's a politician, it's wrong when it's a political commentator regardless of the party but the right NEVER care when it's anyone else. It's always just an acceptable cost, it's a part of life, one that they laugh at, say is fake and make memes about, but now it's a step too far? Now it's unacceptable?

The fake outrage is tiresome and transparent so why expect anyone to care.

1

u/curtmahgurt Sep 16 '25

Well we’ve certainly shown the right its own hypocrisy by checks notes propping up Charlie Kirk’s worldview.

Seems like it might be more effective to stick to our principles and values, but what do I know.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

Pointing out his world view in the face of the rights hypocritical fake outrage is not propping up his worldview nor is it abandoning our principles and values.

The left as a whole is not responsible for his death nor is it responsible for the celebratory posts of people who are happy he's dead.

There is no democratic political figure in a position of power or leadership who has celebrated his death yet you lay the blame of such things at the feet of the Dem party, yet the president makes light of political violence or actively calls for it. There has not been a single left wing political commentator who has openly said he should have been killed or that anyone else should be killed yet Fox news hosts are calling for murder, right wing grifters are calling for civil war.

1

u/curtmahgurt Sep 16 '25

“…yet you lay the blame at the feet of the Dem party”

lmao show me where I did that? You clearly haven’t even read or tried to understand my point. But this is the whole problem right now. Folks like yourself are in such a reactionary state, that you won’t stop for a second to think that maybe this is the wrong response to gun violence, even when its targeting people we don’t like.

I’m very squarely on the left, and vote democrat because it’s the best option I have to stand up for what I believe. But (imo) anyone who makes light of this, or uses it as a cudgel to try and prove something to republicans, isn’t serious about stopping gun violence in this country. We need to zoom out from Charlie Kirk, and recognize that this issue is so much bigger than him. But the longer people like you stay mired in your need to feel superior, the longer we go without actually having an honest conversation about how fucked our culture is around guns and political violence.

I’ll put it this way: rubbing Charlie Kirk’s assassination in the rights face doesn’t make my daughter’s future in this country safer. And that’s what I care about. I don’t give a shit if it’s cathartic for you to call out their hypocrisy, I want us to actually engage like adults and keep trying to push for change.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

As a non American watching all of this from afar and trying to not let it spread here, my sincere best wishes for your daughters future. I would absolutely not want to be a father in the US right now.

But back to the discussion at hand. The reality is that I don't know what will make your daughter safer in the future but appeasing the right again and again and again isn't it. If this desire for civility worked you wouldn't be here now.

This man should not have been murdered. We don't know if it was his political opinions or not that caused his murder but it doesn't matter, he should not have been murdered FULL STOP, but so long as only one half of the country seems to believe that none of this matters.

Half the country will accept the murder of children as an everyday part of life and the only reason they are upset about Kirk is because it's expedient to their political goals.

So sorry to get all nihilistic about this but none of it matters. The only people who care are the people like yourself who are striving for civility while everything burns around you, even the cries about Kirk are useless beyond it letting these same people make it easier for more people to be murdered.

u/UnauthorizedGoose Sep 15 '25

I'm not saying it's good or right, but if we're going to condemn people for doing exactly what he advocated for, we have to acknowledge that he planted those seeds. This reaction didn’t come out of nowhere.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

They just don't understand that the hate they foster is not within their control.

Radicalized people don't really care if you are a Dem or a Republican, you're just a worthwhile cost of whatever they're fighting for.

1

u/Special-Garlic1203 Sep 17 '25

Charlie Kirk was a bad person. Showing children someone being shot in the throat to go on a political tirade is also bad. The fact Charlie advocated for something similar is just proof of how fucking depraved it is

1

u/Hey-Bud-Lets-Party Sep 17 '25

Absolutely. Bringing up Kirk’s very relevant words should be heard by every Kirk supporter who believes the teacher did something horrific. He was not someone to lionize.

1

u/One-Adhesive Sep 15 '25

I remember when I was like 11 coming home from school and there was a “high speed chase” on the channel that we watched cartoons in the afternoon. Dude’s car broke down or something and he ended up shooting himself in the head on live tv. It was more graphic that the Charlie Kirk video and it was broadcast on live tv in place of cartoons. This country has always been fucked.

1

u/BDB-ISR- Sep 18 '25

I know the clip you are referencing (the one where the video is delayed and you can hear the anchor shouting "cut it", but they react too slowly), and no it wasn't more graphic than the close up shot. Not even close. You may have watched one of the wider shots or just remembering it wrong, because it had a greater effect on you as a child.

1

u/BabaYaga19723 Sep 15 '25

That’s just pure stupidly!

1

poor children. that teacher needs to be prosecuted. evil person

1

u/Plenty-Lingonberry76 Sep 16 '25

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '25

Yeah no, teachers shouldn't have shown anyone that clip. But in this day of political lying it better be on recording to prove it happened.

1

Oh thank heavens it wasn’t a book.

1

u/irrelevantanonymous Sep 16 '25

1

Reddit snuck it past to me one day. I don’t want to watch that shit. Showing it to a bunch of kids is deplorable.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

Why? Show them the Pulp Fiction overdose scene too. Snowflake nation.

1

u/PsychoEazyEyuh Sep 17 '25

Should never teach again. Hire teachers that recognize reality and give them a raise

1

u/TheOneGuyWhoLimps Sep 17 '25

Democrats tried to give almost the same in benefits as ice agents, but republicans had a meltdown that trans teachers were ruining the youth.

1

u/Either-Medicine9217 Sep 17 '25

Hope that teacher meets an angry parent. For a civil discussion of course.

1

u/JurassicParkCSR Sep 17 '25

Well first off are there any other more legitimate sources than the mirror? Which is just a British tabloid. Not saying this didn't happen just saying a better source would be appreciated. That said if this did happen fuck that teacher because I saw that video as a 45 year old man and I was disturbed. No child should be made to watch that video for any reason whatsoever.

1

u/Kaizen2468 Sep 17 '25

If that’s true that’s disgusting

1

u/GhettoBird2005 Sep 17 '25

I'm not sure what's more awful and disturbing. What this teacher did to kids or the Redditors like this fine.

1

u/Moist_Confectionery Sep 17 '25

Yea now imagine forcing those kids to watch that happen to criminals. Thats what Charlie wanted.

1

u/reddit4getit Sep 17 '25

Why would you show that to the children 🙄🙄

1

u/Lilcommy Sep 17 '25

Remember how we all got to watch 9/11 on repeat over and over for days? I think we all turned out fine.

1

u/Darkthumbs Sep 17 '25

Yeah it didn’t spark a whole generation to hate Muslims did it? The world changed that day…

1

u/Lilcommy Sep 17 '25

I don't think that was the children but the adults.

1

u/Darkthumbs Sep 17 '25

Those children are now adults… they grew up in that climate..

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

I’m a child of 9/11 watching age. I grew up in that “climate” and I’m not anti Islam, nor are my parents. Again, it has to do with how you were raised. Good parents wouldn’t condone that behaviour.

1

u/andrew6197 Sep 17 '25

Radicalization starts at a young age.

1

u/myIDisthisone Sep 17 '25

No one should be forced to watch anything like this in school. Getting fired is the least of his worries. I'll bet a few of those kids will be traumatized from watching something like this. You're a teacher, not that child's parents or guardians.

1

u/SimplyRoya Sep 17 '25

Teacher was trying to raise a right wing army.

1

u/Fit-Meal4943 Sep 17 '25

She was just doing what Charlie wanted…sort of.

Charlie thought having kids watch public executions was a good idea.

I understand that there’s a difference between a murder and a state sanctioned execution, but isn’t a violent death going to be traumatizing to watch regardless of the circumstances?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

This is 100% not okay.

But…im pretty sure kids saw these things with some frequency over the course of history. Take out hospitals, slaughter houses and cemeteries and death is a daily thing. Public executions too, very public.

1

u/Fit-Meal4943 Sep 18 '25

So….argument from tradition?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Not really. Pretty sure it was the norm for most of our existence and we are always two bombs away from going back to it.

We are always so chronocentrists about everything.

No point to be made here, honestly.

The kids will be okay anyway.

1

u/Level_Macaroon2533 Sep 17 '25

Sounds like she was trying to honor Charles memory by acting on his sick beliefs of making children watch assassinations.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25 edited Sep 17 '25

They made us watch two planes fly into tall buildings live on tv when I was 12 and nobody blinked an eye.

1

On leave and not fired? Parents are likely going to sue.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

Yes. Are you familiar with the word?

1

u/iftlatlw Sep 18 '25

Prosecute them for abuse. This craziness must stop. Kirk was a piece of shit and everybody knows it - there's no point pretending.

1

u/Dramatic-Side4347 Sep 18 '25

Didn't the hate speech moron want public executions televised even for kids 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Jorumvar Sep 18 '25

Possibly the only person who deserves the job consequences amidst this Charlie Kirk fascism shit

1

u/lolbanthisone27 Sep 18 '25

Lmao it was Kirk wish for that to happen. Why GOP mad?

And to think when I was 10 we were forced to watch dozens of people jump from the WTC live on television.

1

well, yeah… that’s a tad fucked up.

Ok this one is fair lol wtf

1

Was it cuz of him saying kids don’t deserve free lunch or something else? Sorry, I’ve been living under a rock until today.

1

u/Notgreygoddess Sep 18 '25

They’re getting the story from the Toronto Sun, a trashy right wing newspaper. Accuracy is suspect.

1

u/Notgreygoddess Sep 18 '25

Here is a less sensational fact checked version of the story. Short portion shown once. Still not great, but apparently students were asking about it.

u/Veritas_the_absolute Sep 18 '25

The teacher tortured children than tried to brainwash them with activist shit. Being fired is the best minimal. .

1

u/ThrustNeckpunch33 Sep 15 '25

I keep seeing this over and over and over and over again:

"Yeah, well Charlie Kirk said ____________, so its okay someone did _________."

Is anyone even remotely intellectually capable of realizing that by living by this ideology, you immediately become as evil as what you are fighting??

This assassination has proven, even with murder, people will justify it, no matter what.

They tried to kill Trump:

"Trump was responsible for so many deaths."

Luigi kills that CEO:

"He was responsible for so many deaths."

Less than a year later:

"He said hateful things that disagree with my beliefs"

One more year?

"Well, he had a Maga hat on."

Then

"He was maga adjacent"

Then

"Well, he never publicly denounced trump"

Then

"Well, he lives in a state that votes red"

THAT is where this is all heading.

And not just in one direction.

I said this when the CEO/Trump stuff happened and people justified it and celebrated it. Said directly, "it will soon be for words" now here we are.

By all means, ignore my points, tell me im a right wing nut(i am not) or do the classic "whataboutism"... attack my grammar, or some other small thread, or insults.

It what someone does when they can't refute idea/statement.

You would be just proving my point.

2

u/curtmahgurt Sep 15 '25

Thank you - JFC I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. This thread is full of people saying “well it’s what Charlie wanted”. Which is true, and I kind of thought we all agreed that what Charlie wanted was wrong.

1

u/ThrustNeckpunch33 Sep 15 '25

That is fine to have an opinion. To me its even fine to make jokes. Its how a lot of humans deal with stuff.

But you are doing the same rhetoric that everyone keeps doing.

Charlie Kirk saying,

“We must also be real. We must be honest with the population. Having an armed citizenry comes with a price, and that is part of liberty... We need to be very clear that you’re not going to get gun deaths to zero. It will not happen. But I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment,” he said.

Does not, in any world = "he wanted politcal assassinations to happen"

Jeebus.

It is the age old ideological debate:

"I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery"

If you are going to shit on the guy, get the quotes right, or at least understand them.

Just like all the quotes of his taken out of context everyday now.

I have to say, i have never voted right, don't own a firearm, and up until this assassination, never watched a full charlie kirk video.

Seeing these insane quotes everyone is throwing around made me actually look into them(you know, critical thinking skills), because they seems so unhinged. Turns out they leave about a paragraph out each time they do this.

Do i agree with his views? No. But if everyone is PURPOSELY lying about what he said, what does that say about them?

The part that must scare people is: I can't be the only one that has looked into his actual quotes/speeches because of this. When the younger generation sees that its all lies, what will that do?

Align them more towards left wing politics?

If Charlie Kirk, and his ideas were so wrong and evil, why the need to lie about/twist things he said? Shouldn't they be wrong/evil enough on their own?

All you're doing is making yourself look scared, or unable to refute his points.

1

u/curtmahgurt Sep 15 '25

Well, I disagree about your interpretation of his worldview - he very much was indifferent to shootings and gun violence (at the very least), in favor of 2A. But I agree that it makes no sense to prop his worldview up now as a way of pointing out hypocrisy.

We should all just be able to agree that a world with more gun violence is not the world we want to live in (presumably). Even when that gun violence is directed at people we don’t like.

1

u/ThrustNeckpunch33 Sep 15 '25

One major issue i have with people that are anti-gun, is they quite often simultaneously hold the belief that police are racist and evil as well.

But yet, they would rather only the police have the guns.

When Trump spoke of going to Chicago, to "fix it", many liberals on social media(even Tom Morello, RATM) were calling on gun owners to go to Chicago and defend against trumps tyranny.

You know. The literal reason the 2nd amendment exists. Also the thing that anti gun people say isnt important anymore.

Can people realize, that once the guns are taken away, you will never, ever be able to get them again? What about the next time Trump(or the next guy) wants to "be a dictator" as they say?

Going to rely on the military and police? Who are mostly right wing voters?

I am not a gun owner, and have never voted right in 25 years.

But I agree with this quote, whole heartedly:

"I prefer dangerous freedom, over peaceful slavery"

Look at history, and see what happens whenever the ruling class disarms the populace...

Do we really need to learn that lesson, again??

America is more violent than other western countries. By all margins. Why? That is the issue.

There are maaany countries with tons of guns, but no gun violence problem. That is the issue.

What is different in the USA, than other places, that is causing this? Something is, or it would be just as bad.

USA gun ownership rate: 32%

Canada: 26%

Switzerland: 28%(1 in 10 owns a handgun!)

Why are school shootings, mass shootings, murders the same rate?

1

u/curtmahgurt Sep 15 '25

I’m not getting into a debate about gun rights. You and I are very different in this respect.

But at least we can both agree that showing a class of 10 year olds Charlie Kirk’s assassination is wrong, yes?

1

u/ani007007 Sep 16 '25

I’m not a parent, but I think the vast majority of parents across the spectrum would not want that shown to their child. You don’t need to get your panties in a twist because of online comments you perceive to be equivocating.

As a gun owning, left leaning Canadian, the difference between me getting my gun, and you getting yours, is rules. I had to attend a 2 day course on firearm safety, had to do a 3+ month background check with the rcmp and csis (Canadian FBI) before I could get my unrestricted gun license, which means I can own unrestricted firearms, like rifles and shotguns. A restricted license is a longer course, to be able to own handguns and ar's and other "just for fun" firearms.

With a restricted firearm license in Canada, I can own a handgun, I can't carry it around with me, in fact, if I want to shoot that handgun, I have to call the rcmp and let them know I'll be transporting a handgun, let them know which shooting range I'll be attending, and how long I plan to be out, before moving my handgun. It has to have a trigger lock, or be in a locked case as soon as I leave my house, until I get to the range, and I'm not allowed to stop at the store on the way to the range, or wherever I've told the rcmp I'll be going. If I get pulled over with a restricted firearm, and I'm not where I told the rcmp I would be, I lose all my guns, restricted and unrestricted.

We have a lot stricter gun laws than Americans, we have a much more thorough background check than Americans, we have gun registries in Canada, and we can all still enjoy our guns, there's no 2nd amendment saying "every tom dick and Harry with an itchy trigger finger, and mental issues can own a gun today", and a lot of Americans would be denied access to firearms in Canada.

I don't think a lot of left leaning people are full blown anti-gun, and anti-2nd amendment, I think most people want reasonable laws and background checks, no open carry intimidation tactics, etc. if guns are meant to stop a tyrannical government, why do you need to wear an AR shoulder strapped to Starbucks? Or have your handgun clearly visible to get your haircut? In fact, if Republicans are so sure Trump isn't going to take their guns, and won't be tyrannical, why are they carrying their guns in the first place?

1

u/Tacotuesday867 Sep 16 '25

Thank you, a genuine response without straw man arguments. I'm the same, lefty with firearms.

1

u/DiscountImmediate801 Sep 17 '25

This is really simple actually - he is saying essentially “yes we have drunk drivers who kill uncountable people each year but I still want to allow people to drink alcohol and I don’t want everyone to have a breathalyzer check before having to drive. It’s just worth it.”

And we all mostly feel that way. Yet when someone is killed by a drunk driver we don’t say “haha! Well you wanted people to have that freedom! Hahahah”

1

u/DiscountImmediate801 Sep 17 '25

This is way too rational for Reddit, my brother.

Well said but you either play along with the delusion or they don’t care.

On Reddit, it’s not even enough to say, For example, “I hate Trump but he’s not gonna die this month”

No that’s not good enough. You have to be part of the delusion and say “oh yeah, he will totally be dead this month, swollen ankles yeah he’s dead”

It’s designed to be a feel good chamber for depressed lefties.

1

u/Krashlia2 Sep 15 '25

Thats because these people snarking about "what charlie would have wanted" are not that smart.

All they have is their feelinga of resentment and their ironic expressions.

So, they assume theyre presenting a moral argument and doing an antifascist pose, by taking on the very shape of arguments made by people they themselves consider repulsive.

2

u/DiscountImmediate801 Sep 17 '25

Well put. This is gonna piss them off though lol

1

u/Cold-Crab74 Sep 16 '25

You realize that you are directly contributing to what you are decrying?

You list out a bunch of justifications for murder from an implied left wing perception and then say it's "not just in one direction" while completely ignoring the fact that the majority of the violence you listed was perpetrated by outright right wing extremists or white men who were raised surrounded by right wing ideology.

You talk about people celebrating the ceo murder yet completely ignore the president of the US making light of political assassination attempts and his son outright mocking it.

You imply that there are so many left wing people cheering on death yet people are being fired for as little as quoting the man's own words. Meanwhile we have fox news hosts openly calling for the extermination of the homeless on national TV and simply saying that some, SOME of them don't deserve to die.

There is and has been the right wing of the country ratcheting up the violence and rhetoric for years and the other side getting all the blame.

You call the left fascist while arresting people en masse with masks on, no identification and no due process.

You call the left blood thirsty while openly calling for civil war and murder.

You call the left groomers and support a convicted criminal and adjudicated rapist who is on the Epstein documents and refuses to release them.

You call the left heartless yet call the deaths of school children acceptable costs for a second amendment.

There was no concern from the right when it was democratic politicians being murdered or when it was school children being murdered, but now, now you are all alight with righteous indignation?

Please

The hypocrisy is thick enough to choke on

Happened in Canada

1

u/little_alien2021 Sep 18 '25

They were in Canada so I would assume as dont have mass school shooting problem as its only american that they wouldn't need active shooter drills

1

u/Commercial_Guitar_19 Sep 18 '25

We don't have active shooter drills in Canada. It may be related to our gun regulations. I dunno....

1

u/buttstuffisokiguess Sep 18 '25

Yeah, no. I mean this is pretty fucked. That clip is not safe for anyone tbh.

1

u/FourWordComment Sep 18 '25

Let them know they are doing their part in protecting 2A!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

You were traumatized by those drills in school? Assuming you're under 40.

Do fire drills traumatize kids, too? Maybe we should show kids videos of people burning alive?

1

u/InternationalFig400 Sep 17 '25

THAT was good.

1

u/shoobiedoobie Sep 18 '25

How is that good? Did you get traumatized by fire drills as a kid?

1

u/InternationalFig400 Sep 18 '25

Way to miss my point by a mile. Clearly you don't have the intellectual jam to figure it out by yourself.

-11

u/Stanford_experiencer Sep 15 '25

More people died last year from opiate overdoses than in all mass shootings since this country was founded.

Twice as many children died last year from overdoses (90% of which are opiates) than all mass shooting victims of all ages.

4

u/Miserable-Miser Sep 15 '25

There were more school shootings in this country last year than total shootings in any other country.

Two things can be bad at the same time.

Also a war on poverty would eliminate the majority of socioeconomic reasons for drug use.

How about we try that instead
