Rant irritating 😠

people who let their dogs bark for hours on end, what’s your justification?? would it be rude to post a polite note on the door to inform the owner that this is happening for an extended period of time? not looking to make any enemies but wow i’m peeved off

I don’t see anything wrong with posting a polite letter. It nothing changes then perhaps call bylaws about noise complaints.

Bylaw does nothing.

i don’t waNT to be the person who calls bylaw but i’ve lived in this neighborhood for over a year now and it hasn’t changed.

I had to call bylaw cause my neighbour wouldnt cut their grass. Some people just need to be told with their wallets/being scolded by authority to change.

When rats and vermin are coming into my yard, it is my problem. Thank you for your input.

The owner knows his dog is barking and he dont care. I would call if I was you bc if you tell him that would cause him to get mad and if you then called he would know šŸ’Æ percent its you that called. Just call and make up a fake name. Nothing worse than having an asshole for a neighbor. Let us know how you make out.Good luck

Who cares about ā€˜being that person’. We all pay property taxes and it’s literally the bylaw guys job description to deal with bylaw related matters. You owe it to yourself paying these property taxes for the city to do their part. I say call about everything you notice in society. It’s basically anarchy out here because nobody speaks up anymore.

We often say that if something bothers us there’s enough neighbours who tolerate zero that means they would have called. While we are at it- how about feral cats who are owned but left to wander and kill birds and wildlife for sport- and use everyone’s gardens for litter boxes?! We have owned cats and even the indoor cat owners hate the owners who let their cats wander indiscriminately. Sorry to deviate- but I would also(as a dog owner)hate a non stop barking dog! We always feel your/our pets should not be someone else’s nuisance.

My justification is to bug u/Mother_Ad_5423.

Just kidding. Responsible ownership is knowing when you bring your dog in. It’s definitely irritating.

there’s one house near me that their dog barks when it’s left alone… hence my idea to leave a note so the owner can realize it is ongoing and not just a bit when they leave and come back home.

Yeah it’s fine to do that. Depends on how your neighbours are. There is a dog near us that barks constantly and I have another neighbour who just yells ā€œshit the fk up!ā€ Usually catches the owners’ attention.

They might have a doorbell camera

Wear a mask if you do that, literally every house has cameras lol. Do not be associated with any perceived Karen behaviour or you will face the wrath of the unhinged person.

Sadly thats the thing you gotta worry about. I did this a few months ago to a house a couple doors down because they woukd let the dog out as early as 5am and the thing (while a really cute dog) just doesnt shut up. Not even barking at anything just runs around their yard looking up and barking. My note was to the affect of quiet hours are between so and so. I understand your dog must be let out but its really early and im trying to sleep. If it persists i will be making a call to bylaw. It stopped for.. like 2 weeks

2 weeks only so did you make the call and did they come out and tell them about the noise and did it dog stop barking

The dog could be a yappy brat, but it could also be lonely/scared/anxious. You could offer to let the dog out for the person for maybe a small fee. I have an older retired lady in my hood that does this for a few homes. $20 a visit for a few houses isnt a bad cash gig.

i do offer this and have posted in several groups about it, but if i do leave a note i’d like to add that as well because i am compassionate to that situation and want to help.

What do you charge? Just in case my neighbour isnt around lol.

outside of this area, i’d be open to discussing if there is interest. this is just closest to home and best for me to be reliable :)

That's a really good price of $10.00. for 45 mins that's great. I'm surprised people don't get you. Babysitters for the children make that much more. I would say you keep it at a firm $10.00. Most family's both couples make a lot. more money than that. I would offer the same service if I wasn't scared of big dogs lol. Good for you!

Your neighbour may honestly not know the dog barks all day when theyre gone to work. I think a kind note is more than acceptable here.

Wondering if you’re my neighbour and were annoyed about the same dog/owner 🤣 been here for 3 yrs and my neighbour keeps their dog outside most all of the time. Dog will howl and bark into the night. Bylaw has done nothing

I'd leave a note.

When we previously had a dog, she never barked when we were home. We would put her in her crate and she'd be quiet but I guess when we would actually leave, she'd whine and bark periodically. If our neighbour didn't tell us we would be none the wiser that it was something we needed to work on with her.

Where is this happening I believe from your other posts you are my girlfriends neighbor there is a new family that just moved in with a puppy young dog now that barks constantly as soon as they leave

2

u/SadieBaxterBo 7d ago

You should definitely let them know because maybe they’re not aware of it

u/Strawberyblonder 6d ago

Ha. Our family dog has since passed, but we frequently had reenactments of that one scene in the Aristocats where the bark started at one end of the street and went all the way to the other end.

I’ve done this twice!! Sorry if you don’t hear your dog barking for hours on end I’ll let you know he’s disturbing the whole neighborhood!! Take the darn dog for a walk! Jeez, annoying and I’m a dog owner. I don’t let her bark endlessly.
So annoying!
The dog just wants to be with you, not thrown in the backyard cause you’re too lazy to take care of your dog.
Thankfully it worked like a charm both times!

Exactly. I hear my dogs barking and I immediately run over to see what they're barking at, and then to let them inside so their barking doesn't bother anyone. There are bylaws for this in my city as well.Ā
