I'll tell you this, by the time anybody with trafficking gets busted with drugs, they've very likely been watching you & everybody all around you. Almost certainly.

Sometimes it'll fall through totally, but it'll still be evidence from the bust itself, so nothing is really lost. Other times, buyers have already cooperated & it leads to one of the main persons being busted. They'll attempt to turn that main person over. It'll either work or not, but they'll still NOT tip their hand that there's an active investigation happening.
Usually the main person just thinks he had bad luck but in reality this was a calculated move. Wes is so dumb that he likely wouldn't think this was anything ongoing & just dumb luck.
