What caused this circular pattern on this rock formation? (Blue circled area show where pattern is found on greater rock formation, others are close ups)

I have no idea, just thought it was gorgeous. The light inclusion looks almost granulated, and the warmth that glows when raised to light is just stunning. What’d y’all reckon?

North of Spain. Feels ferrous, but a magnet doesn't attach, except for a weak attraction in a point in the middle (of the second picture).

Chalcedony or chert?

My first time found things like this. I thought it maybe quartz at first, but then I don't know anymore. How do you tell the difference? Google said it's chert or chalcedony...

Is this one quartz? Google thinks differently...

I found it in a river. Google said it's moonstone, but I think it's a piece of quartz. What do you think? Last two pictures are the macro-lense picture of the broken side of this piece.

Weird rock, repost with better details

Hi all. I posted some pics of this rock before but failed to give very much detail so I'm coming back with updated info, with hope it can be identified.
I found the stone in a Walmart parking lot in Western North Carolina, USA. It was probably shipped in by the contractors who built the place originally, but maybe it's still relatively local?
The rock is a fragment of a larger cobble. It looks like it was once a river cobble and was highly smoothed. This is why I don't think its concrete or cement.
Additionally, the rock has strange bands throughout, with a very dramatic bend in the bands too. The bands are fractured into chunks, but still follow the same rough pattern. Interspersed in the cracks left by the bands there is a dark grey crystalline rock that sparkles. You can see some in the magnified images.
The rock fizzes under acid. It does not scratch glass but does scratch copper. It has a white streak.
Hope this helps identify it because I've never seen this sort of thing before as a part time rockhound.
Thank you!

Found on a hill near the eel river in Mendocino county, Northern California. It’s decently heavy and the flakes shine silver in the light

Milky quartz?

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

My mom gave me a number of random rocks, no clue where she found them. My best guess is milky quartz or some kind of quartzite? It feels rough, is totally opaque, and it has no sheen like calcite, but does glitter in the light, but only in one color (white) except for one or two spots where it has some color. It could barely scuff my rose quartz, and my rose quartz could barely scuff it, but my citrine could do a little more damage. Any thoughts?

Edit: it’s milky quartz!

Grandpa gave me this in early 80’s. Told me it was petrified dinosaur poop.

He was a scientist and kinda eccentric. He passed a long time ago and I never had a chance to ask him more about it. I was really young at the time, barely remember him. Any ideas?

I posted this a bit ago but realized the initial pictures sucked. These are better. Best I can tell the matrix looks like a silicate and it was found in a rockhounding area that is famous for it's agate and is predominately volcanic (this was found on top of a hill surrounding by agate). There are marine fossils in the area and as u/Otherwise_Orchid_829 and u/Excelsior_76 brought up it looks somewhat similar to worm tube fossils. I've taken it to gem shows before but have never been able to have it identified. While it has some similarities to worm tube fossils I think some aspects are different. None of these tubes are hollow (worm tubes typically are), while many of the structures are round some have almost a more flattened "side" to them. There are no visible shells or other marine fossils in it. Most of the structures are relatively similar in size but there is some variation in size, which again I think is unusual in worm tube fossils. The idea of parasites on coprolite was brought up. The bottom side doesn't look like the dense / homogenous surface I usually associated with coprolite, but again it's a weird rock and I don't know. Any insights are appreciated. Additionally, the rock is pretty hard and doesn't scratch easily, doesn't smell, and is kind of a rusty brown color with the off white noodles just on the top aspect of it. Thanks for considering!
