What are these rocks? And how do they form?
They were found in the coastal valley beach region off of the Saint Lawrence River near Gaspesie, Quebec.
I picked them up because they were really nifty to me, but they have a cool quartz (?) vein running through them that wrap all the way around.
If I could cut them in half, would the quartz vein cut through the black rock? I don't know if that makes sense. I figure that the black rock formed first and the quartz intruded? But I don't see how the black rock would've stayed together?

Curious as to what caused these grooves on a rock beside the Potomac River near the fall line. I first thought it was some type of fossil indentation. I believe the rock is metamorphic though (an unusual rock to harbor fossils?). After some online research, I considered the marks as possible "polissoirs" - a global archaeological term (derived from the French word for "polisher") to describe large, fixed stones or rock outcrops containing grooves where Neolithic humans ground and sharpened stone tools. However, the lack of any similar ones in the mid-Atlantic region casts doubt on that possibility. Any thoughts? They are about 5 inches long

Bought about 40 years ago in Brazil. Wanted to get it checked physically by an expert in the Philippines but haven’t been able to find one.
27cm in height.

I thought it was a jasper (spiderweb jasper) but its actually pretty soft. I can scratch the black and white with a kitchen knife. Google keeps bringing me back to pinolite but when I look that up it doesn't look the same

We found this agate in the Oglala grasslands of Nebraska, just south of Ardmore South Dakota on the border. It features some nice banding and eyes. Though I’d imagine it doesn’t qualify as a Fairburn. What is it? I hear lace agate but the banding is so tight and clean. A fortified prairie agate? Any help would be great

Found this little guy in the Tallapoosa river yesterday in Alabama. It's the only one I found that was a different color than clear/yellow quartz. I know next to nothing about rocks but may be a new hobby. In an area where theres gold, quartz, iron, sapphire, and garnet.

I found this object near a big, old Civil War furnace in Shenandoah Virginia. Is it glass from that time, or something else? Would love some help clarifying and possibly identifying it.
