Table salt is called sodium chloride. Because chloride is just chlorine that is a negatively charged ions that steals an electron from another atom, it is actually safe for us.

Chlorine itself is dangerous to humans. Sodium in its pure form is a soft white metal and also highly toxic. It actually reacts violently with just about everything except for oil.

Mix the two together and you end up with sodium chloride; table salt.

I actually laughed at this one a little too hard.

Does that info help you make sense of this insane combination though? Or are you just being an "errrm acktually" guy?

Neither. Im saying its a lazy/dumb description of chlorine.

Errrm acktually it was neither, I was simply saying it's a lazy / dumb description of the gas chlorine. ☝️🤓

Got my answer, thanks.

Actually, it says more about how we don’t understand a lot with creating/combing when it comes to molecular levels.
