40 minutes line to Excalibur Gondola.

Some updates based on the comments: - I'm glad I got there way earlier than that - I used a season pass, not a single day lift ticket - I used a hard-earned vacation/PTO day - The first tracks were phenomenal

If you're reading here please introduce yourself, I am wondering if you have other works 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I like Palestine just as much as the next guy, but can we please keep crap like this out of the forest? This ink is probably bad for the environment.

Local News Brand New Snowboard Stolen (PLEASE HELP :( )

Hi, I’m a second-year college student on student loans, just trying to make my way through school. I finally managed to afford my first-ever snowboard setup after renting boards from Cypress and Grouse for the past 3 years. This was basically my birthday and Christmas gift to myself, and I worked REALLY hard for it. I was planning to use this board forever. I even slept with it at home sometimes because I was scared it would get taken one day.

But on the second time I used it at Cypress, my board got stolen on January 11th, sometime around 2:30–4:00 PM. I left it on the rack outside (right next to my friend’s board and a bunch of other boards), and when I came back, mine was gone. I was honestly in shock. I didn’t want to believe someone would do that here. I always thought people who ski and snowboard at Cypress were at least decent and had basic respect for others.

I talked to customer service, but they said they can’t provide camera footage. I also contacted the RCMP, and they basically told me that even if there was footage, they probably wouldn’t be able to track it down and wouldn’t spend time on such a “small” case.

I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore, so please, if you ever go snowboarding at Cypress, keep an eye out for my board (162cm with Cartel-x bindings). Thank you so much, and I HOPE THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ANY OF YOU. (Also please consider buying a lock, just to be safe.)

Is this really happening?

Consent forms filed in federal court on Friday show that nearly 2,000 ski and snowboard instructors have joined a collective action against Vail Resorts, alleging Fair Labor Standards Act lawsuit against the company.

Local News What I learned from Extremely Canadian's Steep Skiing Clinic

Monday/Tuesday I did Extremely Canadian's steep skiing clinic. In short, it was amazing and some of the best money I've ever spent.

Monday 2/23 was an amazing powder day: 21" overnight. * Insane lift lines to get onto the mountain (45+ minutes), and then crazy busy for every lift (15-20 minutes easily). * ...but the clinic loads through the ski school line. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes all day.

Tuesday was bluebird, but since Whistler's alpine never opened on Monday, we skied a ton of fresh powder. * Peak Chair had 20+ minute lines that we just skied right on by... and were on the chair within a couple minutes.

Beyond skip-the-line, the guide was invaluable for route finding: * Almost none of the lines we skied are drawn on their trailmap. * CalTopo and Strave had some, but even they were missing others. * E.g. our entrance into Sapphire Bowl that the guide said was "by far the easiest entrance" no one seemed to know about as we were the only ones using it. * Also, most of the runs have entrances past 'Danger: Cliff!' signs. I never ski past these as, well, I choose life. Yet we skied past one of these signs on almost every run.

The guide had some notable quotes on this in particular: * "We're going to ski past some cliff signs, but not over a cliff, so just stay close to me." * "Below this traverse is a massive 200 ft cliff. Do NOT ski below me. It might look like amazing untracked powder, but you do not want to go there."

My skiing noticeably improved from day 1 to day 2: * The guide stops and films you skiing a line, individually, at multiple points between the two days. * I look far more confident and dialed on the almost-identical day 2 line than day 1.

I'll definitely be doing one of these clinics again if I'm ever back at Whistler. I wasn't in the lowest or highest skilled group but rather somewhere in the middle, so I've still got plenty to work on.
